Still waiting for my code after 21 hours. WTG, Apple!

Called Apple Care and all they told me was that the code may take up to 72 hours (weekdays) to arrive. He didn't even mention the issues Apple is having with the Program. Amazing how the rep didn't know (pretty sure about this).

In the UK Nearly 22 hours in and still no code

Applied as soon as the page went live. Spoke to an AppleCare rep who said my application was successful but my code probably could take up to 24 hours to arrive. 2 hours and counting - then I'm ringing again. I'm in the UK.

I really don't think this has anything to do with server meltdown or Apple trying to make impatient people buy it - to be honest I find that thought ridiculous. I mean you're honestly going to tell me Tim Cook woke up yesterday morning and thought: "Hey, I've got an idea, we'll stage an embarrassing technical issue to get a few extra bucks from people who can't wait for a code". Really?

I'm not down playing the frustration - this really should have been slicker - but I guess patience is the key. I know it's really annoying seeing all the reviews and status updates for something that we technically should have by now - but what are you gonna do?

I'm tempted to buy it and when my redemption code arrives - let my brother have it! I'm only impatient as i'm at work and the download speed is more than double what I have at home!

Still waiting , but hey , maybe is for the best

Submitted the form yesterday at noon , made the mistake of using wrong serial number ( the form was rather odd to fill up ) , they asked me for proof of purchase, submitted that. Re submitted form with correct serial number ( I started a new form) was not asked for proof of purchase this time.... Got a confirmation number , but no e mails, since then, nothing. I don't have my hopes too high on getting it anytime soon from what I reading here, oh well... No biggie, maybe is for the best , since that has given me time to prepare all my Macs for the update, and read about other people's experiences ... will see.

I Just emailed Tim Will Update if i gwt a responce

Tim et al,
The issues with the upgrade you are having are unacceptable I paid over 1400 for my new macbook air with the understanding that when Mountain Lion came out I would be able to upgrade for free on the day it was released. But no I have yet to get a SINGLE email telling me it is in progress, rejected, or even received. You really need to get this corrected. So I ended up purchasing the Mountain Lion But I expect you to refund that purchase as I bought my Mac book air 2012 and would expect especially for that and the retina Macbook pro to be automatically accepted and they where brand new and all qualify.

I recommend you look in to how Microsoft is handling the windows 8 upgrade and copy that in the future. if you have issues understanding it heres a break down

1. Announce Specific release date Ahead of time (Optional)
2. Allow those who buy qualifying computers to apply for the upgrade when they purchase computer or a few weeks before release.
3. Send codes Before the release date to download OS and allow us to enter it and it confirms the code is ok and The os will show up on release day (Recommended) (But could also be sent on the day of release)
4. use your data centers spread across the US/World to distribute the downloads to keep from crashing one center (Required)
5. Release the product and Mac App Store will automatically start downloading the moment it gets a notification that its available (Optional)
6. Worst case if you follow this you will get complaints about a slow download which is MUCH better than keeping us waiting without so much of an email saying yes we got your submission.

Thanks,

Chris *******

Hi guys,

I'm new with Mac, please could anybody tell me: I bought my Macbook Air on June, 23 and got it with Lion and would like to upgrade to Mountain Lion. Does the upgrade also replace the image on a hidden partition used to restore it later from "OS X Recovery" ?

I mean, if some day I need to restore a clean system, pressing Control-R during the startup and getting to the OS X Recovery, will this reinstall Lion or Mountain Lion?

Thank you!

I think so yes but no need to worry anyway as there is a feature built into the firmware as to where you can connect to wifi and enter in your apple ID and it will download the latest os that you download/paid/entitled too :) and install it as normal

No code yet. I submitted the form seconds after the page went live yesterday (1:45 UK time). anyone from the UK received their code?

Im from the uk and submitted the form about the same time as you ( when the form when up on the site) and still dont have mine :(

I just got this from apple in reply to a email I sent about my code not working.

Wow, thanks Apple! That sure fixed the problem...

what is this email address? I need to ask the support team sth too

still waiting...

at 23 hours here now... I submitted mine with "Retail Store" when actually the Business Team at the local store had put my order in as an "Online Store" order since it was a custom config... I'm hoping that's not going to be a problem - they said it shouldn't be, and if it is, they'll help me out. But still, I don't get why this is taking so long for everybody!! Really should have been a much more simple (and quicker) process.

the password protected PDF is one of the dumbest implementations of promotional code use I've ever seen.

Especially for something that costs just $20.

I did end up receiving my replacement code today at 3:56 AM EST approximately 19 hours after originally submitting the claim.

>_<

It's unbelievable that they are taking so much *********g time for something as simple as this ****.

16 hours and still waiting. :(

Luckily I'm not about to get on a plane or get a kidney transplant or head off to Mars and NEED my upgrade right now. :D

Just hit 20 hours, nothing from Apple.

I really don't mind waiting, but the lack of response from Apple is pretty disheartening. We all know something has gone wrong, I just don't understand the lack of acknowledgement on Apple's side. I would feel much better if I had received a "We are having technical issues with our Up-To-Date program, you will have a code in XX time" email. It's not that hard to send out a mass email - Then again - They are approving all request "manually". (According to what others have posted)
Uh, Huh?
