Ok so before I started downloading my free copy of ML thru a torrent client I called apple first to find out what is the status of my claim and guess what! they said expect the e-mail to be in your inbox between 3 or 4 CT because your request is almost complete, so yay!!! I don't mind waiting some more haha!! If you call apple care make sure you have the first claim number you used, don't keep resending requests because they sure have the one you sent the first time and sending a second request will put you in the beginning of the long long line. Also, make sure you ask the customer support person to check the status of your claim, I had to ask the customer support person like 4 times and finally she told me exactly how long I have to wait until it is approved, I hope this info helps those that are still waiting.

funny thing is I called yesterday night probably 38 hours after waiting.. the CSR said "oh i see here that its approved" and i said "ok is there anything you can do to speed up the process?" the CSR said yes and said he would fire off the email with my code and i should receive the code within 10 min. 40 min later i call back, a different CSR says he doesn't know whats happening and why the CSR would tell me that as the wait is 72 hours. seriously... what... the... F....

I'm coming up on the 48 hour mark myself. I did call AppleCare yesterday and they told me to give them a call back if I did not receive a content key via e-mail by saturday. You can see if your form was accepted by calling apple.

Windows 7's release date was announced months before official release and PC Makers were allowed to take requests for Windows 7 BEFORE Windows 7 was offically released. This meant that OEMs could quickly approve everything and send out the copies on release day.

But sigh... Apple's stubborness with keeping everything secret has came back to bite them in the tail. I don't see why they couldn't have launched the up to date program in early July, have the claims coming in a send out the codes a with a message saying

"By the way, this code is useless until Mountain Lion releases. Don't bother to spam the redeem button because you'll be wasting your time. If you accidentally lose this code, too bad, because you may not request another one. Have a nice day"

I submitted my request at about 12 noon central US time on the first day. Didn't hear anything for 30+ hours so I ended up submitting another request with the same info late last night. I didn't get any error saying the request had already been submitted and just this morning I got my code/password. It was for the 2nd request I did based on the reference number.

If you've only done one request, I would suggest trying again. If they give you an error message, then whatever. If not, then maybe your first request wasn't processed properly.

Long story short: Try submitting a 2nd request if you haven't heard anything from the first one early on release day. I got my code for my 2nd request 10 hours after submitting it.

This is annoying. From what I can tell my first request from ~48 hours went through successfully because it says the SN has already been used. Yet people who are submitting claims now are getting their codes within hours.

I know the minute I just fork over the 20 bucks I'll get my code. Trying to be patient. I was one of the few (or maybe many) who signed up when the Up To Date site temporarily went live on Monday. Never got any email however and now when I try again I get the serial number already submitted error. Emailed uptodatesupport@apple.com as AppleCare told me >48hrs ago with no response yet. Grrrr.

I applied to the up to date program Wednesday morning and said "receive code within 24 hours" .... still no email... been checking every 6 hours.

(╯°□°)╯︵ :apple:

lmao!

**EDIT

I just tried to apply my information again it says serial already claimed, hopefully I get the code by this afternoon so I can install this weekend!

Not if Apple had no record of your claim when you submitted it the first time around...or the second.. (As reported by some who called Apple, and as logic would dictate if the system let you submit more claims without telling you that your serial number has been claimed.

But then, you receive the email with the code...and the claim number is that of the first claim you submitted...all logic crumbles..

Logic somehow back on the table. Well, sort of. It didn't make sense that I received the serial number of the 1st claim, since I submitted it twice after it until it told me "serial number claimed".

Well, I just got 2 other emails from Apple...with 2 new redemption codes for Mountain Lion.

So the first submission did register, even though it let me submit it afterwards.

So...for those of you worried that it didn't, there is hope I say :p

I need a code

Bad Luck

So I submitted my code Wednesday morning, emailed yesterday, and today. I have never heard anything from Apple. Kind of crazy.

It says my Serial Number has been claimed, so it must have gone through originally. Just no code and we're into the 50th hour.

Just something to keep in mind if there are others that still have nothing!

We are in the same boat.

Apple's OS X Mountain Lion Up-to-Date Program Experiencing [Early] Hiccups

Nothing for me yet. Submitted when the pre-live fiasco happened. Code already redeemed...

I think the title of this thread could have been changed a few hours ago (or even a day). Going without ML is not an issue in itself, but this is way too long to go unresolved. "Early" sounds like something happened on opening day. (of course, it does't really warrant a new thread).

Apple's OS X Mountain Lion Up-to-Date Program Experiencing Early Hiccups

Got my code this morning at the exact same time that I submitted the request 2 days ago. Code worked. Download is crawling however, so I think I'm not the only one.

…and downloaded it onto her 2008 aluminum macbook yesterday.

it's a tad slower than snow leopard, i wonder if its just the nature of the 2008 aluminum beast or it's because she has almost no free space on her hard drive.

With OS X, it's best to have at least 10% of the boot drive free, else it will slow the system down. That's been the case since the Public Beta. That said, I presume that it's going to slow down older hardware.
