at last! my wish came true. i hope the ipad mini offers the retina display and a better camera.
No you shouldn't. Like separate iPods, separate readers are obsolete technology. You wouldn't buy a separate digital photo frame anymore. It's over. Multi-purpose is here to stay and rule.
I'm not sure it's a very smart move to be releasing all their products(iphone, iPad and macbook pro) within the same quarter, even if it's just before the holiday season... People like to spread their costs throughout the year. If you're well off, great, you can afford your entire apple fix in october, but for the aspirational lot, it's a better proposition to have a device released every quarter or two...
If you're an Apple fan on an upgrade year, this october is going to be very expensive...

Seems to me it makes more sense to split these in to separate events. Unless Apple is planning some big event for new Macs.
I don't mind my current mini for reading but an improvement will hopefully mean I can read longer without any eye fatigue
You should try out a separate e-ink reader device in this case.

Let him do whatever is best for him
I do not know why the "event".
There are no new products, just new aspects. Besides that, everything has leaked already.
Where is the innovation? It passed away.
Yeah man, new Nexus 7 really really set the bar high.

Yes, with its less than stellar battery life, wi-fi issues, and phantom touch inputs they've really given Apple something to aim for.
He also stated his desire for an iPad mini with Retina. Nothing else. You don't seem to understand much - the original poster stated his problems with eye fatigue when reading books on the mini.
It's not his decision, the market decides what is supposed to be best for everyone. I loved jump & run games, but it's all 1st person shooter now. I love skeuomorphic design, but it's all gonna be modern UI in two weeks.Let him do whatever is best for him.
When was the last major announcement of a new e-ink reader? When will be the next?

Dude, check some real tests and you will se that battery life is on par with ipad mini.
Apple is known for wi-fi issues (last one being new mac air) so dont even go there.
Dont spred lies just to defend apple.
