Think carefully about the consequences of that. Paper launch an iPhone but have no supplies until Oct/Nov.

What do you think happens to the price of iPhone 11? Why would Apple volunteer to Osborne their entire iPhone 11 lineup several weeks before it is necessary and lose $100 per iPhone?
I think it's the opposite. Few people will buy an iPhone 11 now, unless they have to get a new iPhone asap or if they don't bother to google whether it's a good idea to buy one now. Everyone else will wait for the iPhone 12.

However, if they already announce the iPhone 12 now, release it in October/November, but now already drop prices for the 11, they will sell a lot of 11s again in the next few weeks. Because for many people the extra 100$ for the iPhone 12 won't be worth it. This might actually allow them to see a nice surge of selling 11s now, which is also good because iPhone 12 supply will be difficult in the first few weeks, et cetera.

At least that's how I would expect it to work. I might be wrong of course. I also wonder if the iPhone XR, 11 and SE will continue to have EarPods and a charger. They also removed the Lightning to headphone jack adapter from the older iPhones at a certain point, so there is a precedent of Apple doing that again.

On an earlier thread, I alluded to the AirPod promo ending mid-Sep being a possible indicator that new products would launch.

I think Apple should separate the Apple Watch from the other launches, it gives more focus and emphasis to what they improved upon, especially the health related, they can ‘demo’ The Apple Watch more in length, and hopefully the S6 has a significant upgrade over the sub par S5 with AOD.

I’m sorry?
Mark, weren’t you just saying on Twitter that the iPhones would be announced in mid September? You were trying to discredit Jon P.
So this event has turned from an iPhone event to an event where minor iPad and watch upgrades are going to take the entire hour?
I highly doubt that.
They spent upwards of $1 million for that Twitter blue logo, have an entire event all set up on their website, have it filmed and everything, and all they’re going to announce as a tiny watch upgrade, a cheap budget iPad with a faster processor, and a dumbed down 11 inch iPad Air?
That’s not gonna happen. Something is afoot

Expecting new iPhones to be announced.

Not really. The media has definitely been odd in 2020 though.

iPhones will happen, as usual. Everyone just relax and stop the “OMG 2020” drama.

Bad stuff happens every year.

Not really? “Bad stuff happens every year”. LOL, sure bad stuff happens ever year but mate, your parallel universe sounds awesome, I’m so jelly!

In mine we have a WORLD WIDE pandemic with international travel grinding to a halt, people being locked down in their own homes and world economies crashing. And this has never happened before for any living person on earth to experience.

But as long as I get my new iPhone though, none of it matters 🙄

Just a guess that the Apple Logo is referring to the Oxygen Sensor on the watch - like oxygen flowing through a body perhaps...
Excited to see what they've been working on...

Apple sold 41 million iPhones in fiscal Q3 ending June 2018. In the quarter ending September 2018, Apple sold 47 million iPhones. During peak quarters, Apple sells nearly twice the number of units.

Apple sells a lot of iPhones regardless of the time of the year. There are currently over 85 million 5G subscribers in China alone, so there's a lot of people wiling to pay an extra $100 for iPhone 5G.

I wonder how a lot of other OEM's didn't face such intense delays. Is it just because of how many devices Apple has to move? I cant think of another company that has faced similar delays.

From what I recall, Apple shipped about 60M phones in the three months after last years' announcement. I can't imagine that too many companies have to manage that sort of volume.
(doing the math, that's about 8 units per second for the entire quarter...that's a little insane, and with a 30+% profit margin, it's also why they are so profitable...)

Even your explanation over dramatized it.

Twll me what you did to make it “matter” to you more than me. I’m capable of thinking about other things, including other bad things AND good things.

Life is amazing when you realize the world continues even with a respiratory virus.

Short term economic weakness is short term. Lots of companies are doing extremely well and US markets are still near record highs.

Relax. It’s going to be fine. I can’t wait to get my 12 Pro Max, Watch 6 and iPad Pro if they do one.

Did Mark ever say September? I can't find that in his feed.

Maybe it's a typo.
It should read Tim Flies... introducing the new Apple JetPack.

I expect iOS14 is imminent for existing phones and will include any features required for the new Apple Watch

Well its a strange year all around so I guess this could be true. My only hesitation is that you know how there is normally one feature in the latest iOS that is only for the latest handset? So they do the small preview in WWDC, then show it off on the new phone in the fall? Just wondering how they will do that this time...
