If that's true, which no one knows except Apple, that's ridiculous. Im going to assume it's bad information. Stop believing everything you read.

Ridiculous pricing. It's a charger, ffs!
Exactly. Add the fact that we bought a phone at top dollar because it had a ‘new’ feature, only to have to pay an extra ridiculous premium to actually use it. I think it’s all getting a bit out of hand and this extracting the urine is starting to tarnish my view, and possibly loyalty, of Apple.

Must've stumbled into the poor people thread. If you have to bring up the price the brand is not for you.

Seems rather breathtaking for a charging mat. Was expecting $99 or less, $199 is too much...we'll see what the actual price is...but that will cut their potential sales downs significantly.

Except this ain't the ferrari of chargers by any standards. It's just a charging mat.

It can charge up to 3 devices at once. There aren't any other charging mats on the market that can charge even 2, much less 3.

So yes, it is the Ferrari of mats.

I would agree with you if it was unique like a Ferrari. But at it's heart its just a large Qi charging pad. It's not worth $199 unless it's going to charge my devices in 0 to 60 seconds.

It's not just a Qi mat. It can charge 3 devices at once. Please point us all to another mat that can do that. Or point us to one that can even do 2 at once.

So it still needs to be within a foot or three of a power outlet, yes?

I'm sorry. I just don't get it.

If your bedside table looks like a badly wired ethernet closet, having one pad to charge multiple devices is appealing.

I'm planning to get the iPhone X, but not ready to upgrade my Apple Watch or AirPods yet, so I'm not interested at this time.

Apple has reclaimed their "expensive" and "luxury" status. They couldn't be outdone by Samsung anymore.

While it is the “Ferrari of QI mats”, it’s still QI. So it’s like the Kia luxury sedan of chargers.

The 29W Apple charger and cable is the Ferrari of chargers, that’s what I’ll be using!

This one claims it can: https://www.amazon.com/PowerSquare-Wireless-Charging-Enabled-Smartphones/dp/B01E3DUR34

Please show my an Apple mat that can do that right now. Right now there is no market for a 3 device mat because up until now it was mostly just Android phones. Soon it will be iPhones, AirPods (with Qi case), AW. The need will then exist and the market will respond. Qi is a standard after all. Doesn't take much to add a few more coils to a pad.

There already exist 3 coil Qi pads, just not big enough for three devices. And they won't be anywhere near $199. Not even $99. Apple is just selling it's name here, nothing more. It's nothing like Ferrari unless you are talking about a Ferrari branded Mr. Coffee.

This is a joke... Right?

Sam

A joke only to Apple naysayers maybe. If people are willing to pay $1K for the iPhone X, and it seems millions are, then $200 for a charger that will charge up to three devices at the same time is reasonable.

Bwahaha what a joke. $199? That's like 3 times the highest other priced ones

But then your ilk says $1K for the iPhone X is a joke too. And that’s turning out to be wrong.

Apples a luxury brand and always has been. Like any higher end product (cars for example) there are markups just because. Sure 199 is high. But so is 1000 for a smart phone. Get over it , move on. Get a cheaper wireless charger.

But since average Joe can get an iPhone on a payment plan of $25 per month there’s this ILLUSION over the last few years. Stop being shocked that Apple marks up their products. Do you expect a Mercedes to be 20k???

Sorry, any product that can be purchased at Wal-mart and/or Kohls is far from luxury.

That's exactly what I love about Apple ecosystem. I am guaranteed that I will pay way more for everything in this ecosystem than in any other ecosystem.

You are not required top buy one. I will certainly will buy one.

Nope. I'll pay $$$ for many Apple gadgets. Apple accessories are a completely different story. Apple just trades on its name there. In fact I find it's cases to be subpar to even some $10 generics. It's Lightning cables no better than it's MFI partners, but more expensive anyway. I could go on and on. I won't be buying an Apple Qi pad for $199 or even $99.

And yet it’s the biggest, most popular, most secure ecosystem on the planet. Maybe you should consider joining it some day.

Congrats. (I think my posts in this thread have pretty much made it clear I'm not required to buy one but thanks for repeating for bonus clarity).
