i couldn't tell you when it started as I instantly updated to 7.0.2 the day I got it, then to .03 restarts about 3 times a day, especially worst when I try and go in the photo album or take a picture!

I think I'll just call apple and get them to do that, the guys fobbed me off in the store, claiming it was my fault he said to me 'Oh you're using apple apps (yes the built in ones) and they're crashing so its causing your battery to suck' well that was useful, I was very angry!

I would have preferred to go to an Apple store but we have none where I live but it sucks that they would handle it like that. Call them and explain your situation. Try a restore without a backup and see if it helps and if it doesn't mention that you did that when you call them.

What song?

I was looking through the charts for the top songs on the iTunes Store. Whenever I would preview a song then the song played for about 10 seconds and then the app crashed. It happened about 5 times in a row with 5 different songs as well so I gave up for the day. I haven't tried it to see if it works today.

Webkit obviously has issues

Anything that uses it crashes, sometimes all the way back to the reboot. All the comment sections using Disqus will crash if you type too fast and it is incredibly laggy on text entry.

But I think we have had some undocumented upgrades from the first day since I have had fewer crashes after the .0x updates.

Apple Remote app crashes

My 5S and 5 haven't been crashing, but the one app I do seem to be having an issue with in iOS 7 is the Apple Remote app for the Apple TV. About 3/4 of the time when I open the app, it just abruptly shuts off and goes back to the home screen of iOS, like there isn't enough ram available for it or something. But then when I open it a second time it's fine. But I notice the Remote app is the one Apple app which doesn't seem to have an updated icon or new version or anything, so I'm wondering if that's a clue we're going to see something happen on the Apple TV front soon.

I must say though that iOS 7 seems to have fixed the home sharing/wifi issue between the iPhones and Apple TV. It just works now the way it should, so kudos to Apple for fixing that, I can now use my Apple TV much more again. Very happy camper!

We posted the same issue at the same time!

Yep. Different people on different devices. Looks like it could be iOS 7 related.

I first noticed it on the beta—but my dad never used the beta. Most of the issues seem to have gone away for a while after release, but they're happening again now. My dad has also had problems with his iPhone loading in old reminders—a really old backlog that would load and load until his phone would crash. I showed him how to turn it off for now and it fixed the problem, aside from the other issues I mentioned earlier. Those crashes seem to be something else. It seems like my phone loaded in a bunch of older reminders too at some point. Might have been during the beta? There was stuff that I had deleted I'm sure of it! Kind of creepy that it still exists. There were birthday reminders going back years. There were some things from back in college relating to projects. It was very strange.

Very strange. I doubt you'd get an answer from Apple employees on the phone/in store.

Perhaps if apple gave them access to the hardware earlier, they wouldn't be in this mess.

We know that's never going to happen though.

Maybe I don't use my phone enough, but I have not had a crash yet...

This.

I'm not ignorant enough to deny that there is a problem with the 5s, but mine has been incredibly consistent. I've never had a restart that I haven't initiated, and I use Pages + Numbers on a daily basis, and Keynote a few times a week. I can honestly say I've never had an app crash before either. Someone below mentioned Safari, Whatsapp, iWork...well I use all on a very, very regular basis and haven't had a problem. I didn't even realise that app crashes were a thing on the 5s until this article...

I'm far from a power user, but I do use my phone a reasonable amount. Approx. 2 hours of video per day (watching Scrubs on the commute!), ~3-4 hours of music, and perhaps another 2 hours of screen time for emails/calendars/document/app viewing whilst away from my desk at work.

Of course, I suffer from M7 miscalibration, but that's another story.

I'm using a 5s Space Grey 32GB – not sure if there's any correlation between the described problems and specific models?

all these bad reports, and people are still scooping these things up in drones lol it's a wonder how Apple doesn't have more market share

I'd say once or twice I've had iTunes Radio crash. It's like the phone locks up, gets really hot in the back for about five seconds, and then reboots.

Otherwise it's been great.

iPhone 4S here.

That's just been my experience with iTunes Radio tbh (albeit without the overheating). Although, I should note that your phone probably rebooted because it was overheating while mine was likely something more ancillary; the mediaserverd shall be the death of me.

I have the same model but get constant reboots so I guess probably not.

A minority of the buyers are on MR or other similar sites I would say.

...it seems to be quite a wide spread of apps that's crashing, which would seem to rule out sloppy developer work. Hopefully it's something that can be fixed in an iOS or developer tools update and doesn't require all developers to resubmit app updates.

While it's certainly possible this is a general iOS/firmware/or even hardware bug, the wide spread nature of it doesn't rule out "sloppy" developer work. Any app developers releasing 64-bit versions of their apps could not have spent much time, if any, testing with real devices. You can't put that on Apple (well, except for Apple apps). Given the market pressures to come out with a 64-bit version quickly, I wouldn't exactly characterize it as "sloppy" -- I'm thinking "aggressive" -- but either way it's on the developers.

That's why I wish they had broken down whether the increased crashes occurred for 32-bit apps as well as for 64-bit apps. If 32-bit app crashes are also up that points more toward things Apple is responsible for because those would be the same 32-bit apps that are crashing less on 5 and 5c devices. (Still not definitive, but much more suggestive.)

If Apple can't get their apps to work properly I wouldn't be surprised if other developers can't either https://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?p=18124173&posted=1#post18124173

This reminds me of iOS 3.

What was wrong with iOS 3? I always felt like that was the 'Snow Leopard' of iOS. It refined things quite a bit.

iOS 2 was a mess. It was the first release with the App Store and I remember applications barely being able to download completely on my iPod touch back then.

iOS 4 was disappointing for me because I very much wanted a notifications overhaul, but it turned out to be an alright update.

iOS 5 was the best. I would use iOS 5 on my main device and still be very content. Fantastic update.

iOS 6 was a complete joke.

A terrible argument. You could say the same thing no matter when Apple released the hardware. The fact is, whenever Apple releases the hardware, developers still have to test their software on it.
