I wear loose shorts at the gym so the 6 plus is not an issue when I work out. It might be harder if you did cardio but for me, lifting is not an issue with the 6 plus.

but its nice to be able to check social media/news/message in between sets.

Are you there to work out or blog about it. I leave my cell locked or at home, no need to look at your cell between sets. STAY FOCUSED

Lol I get were you're coming from. I watch the clock though between sets ;) I'm not there to do anything other than workout...just helps pass the time same as reading a magazine for 20-30s or looking at a tv screen

When I lift at the gym I usually just keep my phone on the floor up against the bench I'm on (I don't like to leave it in my pocket because I'm worried of accidentally resting the weight on my thigh between sets and cracking the screen). When doing cardio, I found that even the 5 was to heavy/annoying to run with, so I usually use my old iPod nano.

I'm actually on my way to pick up my reserved 6 plus now, and am not too worried about the large size. I'm coming from a One M8, so my usage pattern with phones has already changed to accommodate larger displays. As soon as you accept the tradeoffs that come with a much larger phone, you can start the embrace the benefits and utility that the massive screen allows for. And personally, I'm keeping my old 5 at home just in case I am going out one night and can't bring the bigger phone with me (a quick sim swap only takes a second).

I go 5 days a week and i think it is going to be a problem since i use it for music. But i bought a ghetto Otterbox with a belt clip. That does the trick, when doing cardio i just leave it on the machine anyways...

I use an armband at the gym and got adjusted very quickly. Have run outside several times too without issue.

At the gym, I leave my phone in my gym bag, which is always somewhere close to me. I then use bluetooth beats headphones if I want music. Not only do I not want to have any phone or iPod on me while I'm working out... I also hate cables.

I'm sure the apple watch might be useful for you. However, if you use straps while lifting, you'd have to take the watch off too.

So you are the dude that ignores the no gym bag rule and everyone trips over. Do you carry gallon jugs of water around too?

Exactly.
When you're at the gym leave all distractions behind and focus on training.
I leave my cell in the car and just plug the headphones in my ipod nano.

Different opinions here, but what exactly is making your workout any less effective if you take 30s-1m of rest and during that time unlock your phone to see a message from a buddy or set a song to get you pumped for a new 1 rep max?

Also anyone here aware?

I do what you do all the time when I'm at the gym and it does not affect my focus one bit. Do what you like.

I wasn't ever a fan of keeping my phone on me at the gym. I use Jaybird Bluebuds X's when I workout.

I bring a drawstring backpack to the gym anyway, so I just put my phone in the zipper pouch. Not all of them have a small zipper pocket, but most do somewhere on the backpack or inside.

This was my biggest concern of getting the Plus. I might just get a cheapo fanny pack since I could care less how I look at the gym.

I was at the gym this morning with my 6 and it fell out of my pocket during a hanging leg raise set, my 5/5s never fell out. Luckily it was attached to my ear buds and it stopped it from falling from 6 ft and kind of tumbled down. I then had to make sure when it was in my pocket I turned it so it was in "landscape" mode in my pocket and it didn't fall out again. Not sure if a 6+ would fit that way in my pocket, but we will see when I get one. Other than that my 6 has been fine and I would anticipate the 6+ to be OK, even in my cardio sessions I think it would stay in my pocket with big pocket gym shorts.

Might do this. Do you just put it to the side and use blue tooth headphones during a set?

I tried to have mine in my pocket whilst squatting ... didn't work. My pockets are too small.

This has happened to me more than 5 times I wear basketball shorts and stuff always falls out including my current phone I did like you said and turned it horizontal in my pocket so it doesnt fall out as much...im paying full price for the 6+ though and after reading and watching now easy it is for the screen to crack it has me worried

Use your old Iphone. I am using my Iphone 5 as my gym device

I could sell it for $200 I know, but its the best alternative.

I use Bluetooth headphones and keep my phone in my gym bag close by because I use my phone for spotify and for logging sets in strong. The phone does have a place in the gym if you're using it right.

My 5/5s has fallen out on occasion on decline situps, which makes sense, but this was the first on the hanging leg raise. Lesson learned on that. But yes, with the 6+ you would have to get Applecare and a good case.

Bluetooth headphones. I can't count the number of times I sent my phone flying before Bluetooth. I would accidentally hit the cord on my old headphones & the phone would go flying off the treadmill. The 6 & 6 + seem more fragile than past iPhones so no cords for me. I have a belt too for outdoors.
