Yes, buying one, probably as a Christmas present to myself. Already have two, want a third anyway, and will put the new one (32GB version) in the rec room, where gaming will be useful. Will use that as a trial before deciding to replace others or not, and whether getting 64GB is worth it.

My eldest son is intrigued by the idea of being able to play Skylanders and Disney Infinity on his iPhone (hand-me-down, uses as an iPod Touch) and switching over to the ATV as a console and back again.

Yes, I have been waiting for them to reintroduce a hard drive to the Apple TV.

I like the new UI and I can actually see myself using Siri on it. Just hope the apps are good quality for the device.

You're dead right, I think apps will be what makes or breaks the ATV just as with the iPhone it was the AppStore that really set it apart from the rest in my opinion.

I hope that developers take the time and effort to really refine their apps for the ATV.

With gaming especially it's a very different beast when your sat in front of your television to play a game than it is playing a comparatively quick fix game on your iPhone/iPad.

Although, sadly, shovelware abounds regardless of the platform.

I might buy one just because the interface of my TV sucks.

Amen to that. I used my current smart TV features for all of, oh it must have been a week, before I got royally p'd off at its utter, what's the polite word, averageness:D and that's a top of the line model.

I've had four "smart TVs" and they all suck when it comes to the interface.

This is exactly why I steer clear of "Smart TVs". We bought our current 55" back in 2012, and I knew it would be easier to upgrade set-top boxes like the ATV, Roku, Fire Stick, etc than the whole TV.

Yeah, I'd gladly buy a tv without all of that nonsense built in but it seems to be impossible now to get such a thing. No big deal really, I just buy a tv with good picture quality and ignore its features. Sometimes I miss my old pioneer kuro.

Now what I would consider is a tv set that had the Apple TV interface built into it with the ability for software upgrades. It would be nice to be able to access the Apple TV interface without switching inputs.

Wishful thinking though it may be, that would be nice. They could even build in expansion slots to allow for hardware upgrades without having to replace the tv set itself. That I would buy in an instant.

I'll be getting one. Already disconnected my Apple TV (2nd generation). Does anyone know when the Apple website will open it up for orders/pre-orders?

I have no reason to buy this and not sure why would any. If there was a dongle that will let AirPlay work (like chromecast) you can start streaming from your iphone, ipad, ipod, or macbook and then send it over AirPlay to the TV. Better yet, connect any older TV with an HDMI and it will be more capable than Apple tv.

Apple should release Apple TV software on Macs and mobile devices like Front Row and make the remote universal on all of them

I'll be waiting to see if Synology releases their DS Video app first. Airplay works fine, but much easier to have a native app than to have to my phone as a remote to start the stream. Until then, I'll continue to use my Roku while my Apple TV 3 sits in the closet.

The app for Ultraviolet digital copies would be a great app to have as they don't support AirPlay.

Originally I voted no, but we'll see in October...

Well not really everything I've always wanted but certainly good enough that I will want to buy this update. I use my current ATV3 all the time now so with the additional features, I can't imagine not wanting to update.

Right now, I'm planning on sticking with my 2nd generation Apple TV, there's nothing wrong with it except for the fact that it's not new (but that's not even a flaw, I just like the latest and the greatest). I only have a few complaints with the new Apple TV: 1) The look of the remote doesn't appeal to me... at all. There may be people who like it, but I don't and that may just be me. 2) I'm not a big fan of the increased height. What warrants it to be taller? Correct me if I'm wrong, but we have 128 GB iPod touches that are quiet possibly a fraction of the volume and iPhones that are almost guaranteed to be stronger than the Apple TV, why are they so tall? 3) The fact that the remote has to be charged through the Lightning port. What is with the trend of charging through Lightning? Why couldn't the Apple TV be a wireless charging pad for the Apple Remote? Then we wouldn't have to have battery covers and Lightning ports.

I don't know, that's what I'm thinking about though, why so much, I feel like they're just trying to think of ways to get more money out of us now: "How can we increase the price of this product?" "Include a Lightning cable, that'll increase the cost by $2, but we'll add $25 to the total, and the new remote, make them charge it with that cable so they have to buy it."

I was about to rant on storage, but I just realized that you'll now have the ability to download apps. So I guess that's justifiable.

I don't believe this product is created in mind for the in-depth tech guru guys who can route signals through a million different ways that takes an advanced know-how of computing, who also own almost every Apple product.

This is a plug and play device with easy features that covers lots of bases for the average family.

Try to remember that this Apple TV is working off Bluetooth so you can now mount or hide the "big box" behind your TV. It doesn't require a direct line of site. I'm sure the other issues you address has to do with cost and putting it above the $149 spot.

I want to know which apps we'll be getting and exactly how much it's going to cost before deciding if I'm getting one.

I expect there to be no shortage of apps for the ATV. It's a great opportunity for a lot of existing apps to be upgraded, add in controller support and offer a better experience. New games especially, if they're suited to the big screen experience, would be mad not to consider supporting ATV. It'll be more work for sure, but hopefully worth it.

I know I'm aiming to have my next game on it. I've been working on it for two years now and, believe it or not, throughout that time I've been hoping Apple would finally do an AppStore for the ATV.

I can't wait to play it on the big screen, it's well suited and I've had mfi control support in it for a while now. Hopefully soon I'll be able to finally release some info on it, it's been kept well under wraps. I'm probably over excited about the new ATV, sure it's not perfect, but to me it's already starting to feel like Christmas :D

I'm getting one, and while I wish it had the A8X or A9 processor in there (coming next year I'm sure), it is far better than the other devices I use. Fire TV stick is horrendous; my chromecast is my favorite for the price, but I want something that can do more; and my Apple TV2 seems to crash a little too frequently when my wife is using Hulu, and I would like 1080p output finally.
