Ever since the 7 I've been having the Apple store apply the VERY expensive ($40) Belkin one that they install with the jig/machine. I'm probably wasting my money, but they've been flawless and are unnoticeable (at least to me). YMMV for sure.

Screen protectors? Never used a screen protector ever. I don’t see the point, I don’t like the way they look on displays, and I don’t also like the tactile feedback with the screen protector on the display. The iPhone displays are perfectly durable, but I’ve never had an issue with any severe abuse to any my iPhone displays either.

The one I linked is what I’ve been using for years. It does not effect screen quality, brightness or sensitivity. It also comes with an installation frame that makes it super easy to install.

I install the glass screen protector as soon as I take the phone out of the box.

I went ahead and ordered these. I’ll give it a try. I’ll put it on before I even turn the phone on. I have never been able to use them in the past. But last I tried was ages ago, before tempered glass. Back then they were plastic film and always cut the quality of the screen down and the sensitivity. Worse case I just threw away $10 and I’ll take it off. Only plan on keeping the phone for a year, but where I work sand tends to build up in my pocket ultimately scratching my screen. Not usually bad, can’t notice with the phone on, but still there. Appreciate you sharing your experiences.

I don't usually do cases or covers. On my last phone I notice some decent scratching on the 4 corners of the display, maybe I'm turning my phone face down more often than I used to. I think this time I'm going to try a case with a lip around the display so I can turn it face down and not have the screen make contact with the table.

Got one front and back on my 8, will be putting one on the front of my 11 Pro. They don’t affect the performance of the phone. Anyone know if Apple will do that for me? If not my brother’s great at putting them on and not getting any air bubbles.

Up until my XS Max, I never used a screen protector as I didn't like the cut outs for the home button and around the top, but now that I've gotten used to the edge to edge ones without any cut outs, I use them.
I had gotten some significant scratches on my XS Max just from putting it in and out of my bag I believe and with the screen protector you can't see them. My screen protectors have also saved my screens from 2 drops in the last year!
So, yes I will continue to use them on my phones going forward. Luckily you can't even notice the good ones on the full screen phones now.

Yes - see below.

I certainly am, especially since I'll be getting an iPhone 11 Pro Max AND will not be buying into now-overpriced AppleCare (for the first time).

You guys who proudly run 'naked' with a $1000+ phone, and then cry back to Apple for any scratch or breakage for replacement, ruined AppleCare by causing its outrageous price hikes.

Plus I will say that ever since putting the amFilm Glass protector on my screen, is the first protector that is truly clear as glass and doesn't remind me that it's there every time I look (like all my past crappy screen protectors, which bubbled up and got all scratched).

Yes.. My Xs Max screen is scratched like crazy. I’ve been caseless the last month or so.. Not pretty...

I always get a screen protector. I cannot stand even the smallest scratch, let alone a hairline crack. I’ll feel it from tactile touch and it will annoy me to no end. I prefer a smooth glass experience.

The ones I buy feel just like the glass and have saved me on several drops - Trianium on Amazon. They even have a guide to help those who aren’t good at putting on the protector themselves. No bubbles if you do it right.

If manufacturers could make screen protectors even thinner, I’d consider it. But I don’t like or want to have that extra glass sticking up above the frame. I actually tried a few screen protectors on my X AFTER I got a huge scratch on the screen after the phone got knocked off my center console, went under the seat sliding through the seat rail where it was gouged. The protector eliminated the visible scratch (the adhesive mostly filled in the scratch), but my OCD was too much and I ended up having the screen replaced and have been protector free for more than a year with no scratches. I may even skip using a case as well - depends on how the Max feels in my hand.

I always get the icarez HD film style screen protectors. I don’t like the thickness of the glass ones and I just need basic scratch protection.

I never use screen protectors on my Android phones, but always do on iPhones. Something about the glass used or coating used makes them extremely prone to micro scratches. It's sad that in 2019 it's still an issue but it is.

I always do. Especially with how well the latest glass screen protectors are performing, and how thin they’ve gotten. I hate scratches and it would bother the heck out of me to stare every day at a scratched screen. Tozo thin case and full screen protector.

Always keep a glass screen protector and cases on mine and my wife's phones. We have kids that are really good at dropping phones.
IMO, the cheap one's on Amazon are just as good as the expensive ones. I'm a pro at installing them at this point.

Already have a tempered glass screen protector sitting at my desk waiting for my phone tomorrow. I didn't put one on one year and it made a slight scratch on the screen - bothered me so much. Also made it much harder to sell afterwards too.

Apple should put them already on iphones at least pro ones

Agreed - Samsung does that. At least my friends Note 10+ had it.

This is the first year I am doing one. I have two iPhone X. They are scratched something awful. Never had this issue on any of my other iPhones. Well least not this bad.

I always have but I'm thinking about skipping it this time. I had a poor experience with Zagg on my last replacement( USPS lost my replacement and then ZAGG never received the one I sent back) and I'm thinking its just not worth it anymore. Plus they always get chipped and crack. I had to replace the one on my wife's 8+ at least 4-5 times in 2 years. She just left it off the last time. Damaged screen protectors make your phone looks way worse than some minor scratches from normal use.

I always hated screen/glass protectors on iphone but always end up getting it anyways.

Ive always had light scratches or small swirls on my screen even though i am super careful. Are the 11 pro max screens scratch resistant this year?
I actually have the Belkin Glass Screen Protector, the one that Apple offers in-store on my XS Max. On my next upgrade, I'm not putting one.

Let me ask you how often do you upgrade? If it's frequent, save your money. I don't even care about swirl marks or fine lines. I'm not obsessed at searching for scratched and preventing the screen free of hair line scratches. I'm more concern about being careful to not cause dents, shatters, or scratches on the back and sides of the phone by accidentally dropping it.
