iPhone 11 Pro Are you going to invest in a screen protector for the 11 pro max?

A good Screen protector will protect the oleophobic coating on the screen as well as protect the screen from all those hairline scratches
Remember the word’ good’ when you buy one

There are so many options, how do we know what is really good?

I put a screen protector and a case on every phone I get the day I buy it. Since this time around I got the green back (love the color) I got a clear case. I’ve never regretted popping for the protector and case as I’ve been known to drop my phones a fair amount.

I don't put them on any of my phones and never had any scratches. Don't like the look or feel of them.

I stopped years ago as all your doing is having a crap screen so the next person can have a pristine screen. Plus, when I do upgrade I sell the phone to one of those recycling places and a scratched screen doesn’t affect the trade in value.

to anyone who look at their screen protector and thinks “look at all the damage it’s saved me from” your protector, even the glass ones are not as tough as the iPhones own screen.

Absolutely. Going for a case too.
I've gone through two glass screen protectors on my X. Two drops. I'd rather replace a screen protector than have to send off my phone for a repair.

I was pretty opposed to using a screen protector for my previous iPhones. The idea that an additional glass is in the way of the actual experience in using the phone just does not sit well for me.

But I started applying them as soon as those phones hit the US$1000 mark. I was like, damn, you need additional protection bro!

Never.

Use the phone the way it was built to be used.

Why “protect it” for the next person? Instead, use it for you.
I use it for me.

I used to keep my phone in my pocket with “nothing in it” and have gotten scratches. I kept very good care, but still acquired scratches.

On my recent phones I install multipack $4 Amazon screen protectors which last the life of the phone. If they pick up a nasty scratch or deformity, I can easily replace. Haven’t had bubbles with any of the latest protectors like I had on the early days of iPhone. Seamless experience, perfect optic clarity. Using the phone as it was designed.

I always scratch my head and wonder why people pickup AppleCare and then have to pay deductibles on top of the original payment. Not good math, but that’s universally accepted.

I started using screen protectors after my month old X had micro scratches all over the screen. Now I have a screen protector and back protector with no case.

I am interested in getting screen protectors this time around because both my X and my wife’s have micro scratches all over. They don’t hurt during normal use but can sometimes be annoying.

Is there consensus on the best brand? It seems like a lot of people go with the cheap ones vs the $39 belkin.

From what I have read it looks like the best are:
Belkin
Zagg
Spigen
iClearz
Maxboost

There are a few others I am sure I missed. So what is really the difference between these? Outside of the edge to edge vs cutout they all seem the same.

Is there any difference in quality?

Ironically, I was a proponent of offering a screen protector for every device we sold at a certain carrier right after the iPhone launch. Had those things at the register for grab and go. We racked up almost a billion in accessory sales right after 2007.

I stopped using them about a decade ago. Glass is a sham IMO. The probability of the glass breaking is higher than your device’s screen...and when it does the hook is set. Oh look, it saved my screen. I truly feel if the impact is going to break your screen a mm piece of glass isn’t preventing it. The plastic screen protectors look and feel cheap. All that $ for a screen you live to prevent from an accident while never enjoying it. Better off with a good protective case with a ‘lip’.

Yes, they prevents scratches and those hairline marks in the oleophobic coating... but you have to look through the inferior glass to see the main component of your device. I gave up caring about the hairline scratches. I do buy AC+. My eyes can see the extra depth and I really don’t like it. Cheapens the device to me.

I am for sure, can't stand micro scratches and they are everywhere if you don't, no matter how careful you are.
Not everyone can...I couldn’t for a long time.. but when you can let these little scratches only visible in bright light.. one less thing to worry about.

I have a love hate relationship with screen protectors. In the past I didn’t use them, but recently I’ve started using them, only if I get it installed correctly. Glass screen protectors are easier to install with less chance of bubbles.

I always have a screen protector on my phone. It has saved my screen many times. I use Zagg and if that chips or cracks I pay 5.99 S&H for a new one. I just upgraded to the privacy screen for 5 bucks for the XS which still fits my new 11 MAX. So it's a win win for me.

How do you know it saved your screen? My wife doesn’t use them either. She had an iPhone come off the top off her car and land in the road. Screen was fine. She drops her XR on a hardwood often as she falls asleep. Screen is fine. Had dropped it on hard tile. Screen is fine. Glass screen protectors will crack before, and independent of, the display.

I guess I don't really know that for sure. I'm just not willing to take the chance of my screen cracking. I've seen too many people that actually live with an all cracked up screen. I could not handle that at all. So for me its better safe than sorry.

I only like the privacy screen protectors
Just ordered a new one of these. I had one a while back and really liked it. Zagg is out of stock for the 11 Max, but my old screen protector still fits so I ordered the one for the XS MAX.

They will prevent scratches. They will not prevent a crack/cracks.

My very first iPhone 3 fell on to concrete and shattered after only a few days of owning it. After that every iPhone has had a protector on it and I upgrade every time. I have dropped my phones many times over these last 10 years. Accidents happen.

I think people should go whatever route they feel best when it comes to screen protection (and cases for that matter). No one here is going to pay for anyone else’s screen damage incurred. And if a $10 screen protector ends up cracking after a drop, but the screen remained in tack, then that screen protector did its job in my mind. Doesn’t matter if the benefit is actual or merely psychological. I get 3 screen protectors for $10. I cracked two of them on drops owning the XS Max. The screen remained pristine. So, still cheaper than potentially paying for a full screen replacement with AppleCare. I have dropped all of my phones often, but have yet to need a screen replaced.

Screen protectors do not protect against cracking. If you drop it and the protector cracks that’s not taking the damage your phone would have. Shock breaks screens, a protector can’t protect against shocks.
