Never.

Treat your iPhone like the piece of precision engineering that it is, rather than treating it like a tv remote, and cases/protectors are entirely unnecessary.

I'm always on the go and didn't end up using one for my X, it has a bunch of micro scratches, some a bit deeper which are annoying (never dropped it though). This year I'm going with the Apple clear case and a high quality glass screen protector.

I've got a Spigen tempered glass screen protector. Not used one before. I hate sticking on the standard protectors and dealing with bubbles and the like. My iphones never really get scratched so unsure if I'm using it yet.

I am very careful with my phones. Even so, my X has tons of visible scratches so for the first time in 8 phones, I am going to get a screen protector...

I get one for my wife, as she’s really hard on her iPhones, haha!! I put it on (along with a clear thin case) as soon as I take it out of the box.

And you can’t beat the price, for a two-pack no less. Excellent fit and quality. You nearly can’t tell it’s installed.

I got a free one with the case I bought, but I'm not sure if I'll use it. I used to use them regularly, but the ones I've tried don't seem to fit as well on recent models. Either they don't curve around the glass at the edges, or they do and look really bulky.

Yes, especially since you can't even tell once it's on. This helps with resale value too, for example I probably would not be able to get the $400 credit for my X if I didn't have one on. I am not careless with my phone but drops are bound to happen. I've replaced the cheap screen protector 3-4 times, better than a new screen for sure.

Only downside is that they won't feel as smooth as the phone itself, but you quickly forget about that. "ignorance is bliss"

Yes. I've had one on my 6s since it was BNIB. About 4 months ago I took the screen protector off and it's currently scratched up.

Just wanted to pop in and say thank you. Got my 11 pro max and have the screen protector on. Went almost flawless. Got a speck under the bottom right corner the first time, so wouldn’t seal. Took the sticker and lifted the glass a little got it out of there and it sealed. Can’t even tell there’s a screen protector on the phone. I think I’ll be able to leave it on which is great. Now the sand that gathers in my pocket at work won’t scratch my screen up. Just wanted to give you kudos on the suggestion!

Glad you’re happy with it, I actually just installed that screen protector on my wife’s Pro Max as soon as I took it out of the box. It’s the most flawless screen protector on the market and pretty cheap to replace if it cracks. Enjoy the new phone!

This thread is chock full of some of the most smug, pretentious posts I’ve ever seen on the internet. Smh

Since the iPhone 6 Plus. I busted my screen... The protector adds a sacrificial layer that actually works. Does not add much of any drawbacks.

I thoroughly dislike the way screen protectors look on a phone that was designed to look so good without them. I’ve previously used ultra thin rear cases but the frosted glass (went for midnight green 11 Pro Max) and stainless steel look would be lost in a case with the 11.
Never used screen protectors and only ever got one small scratch on a 4years ago. Ironically the Pro 11 Max got a swirl within an hour when I very lightly placed my ‘X’ on it to see the size difference. DOH!!!

I definitely feel the screen coating is really soft on the 11 Pro.

To put some perspective on it though - yes the 11 Pro Max is a pretty expensive phone @£1,299 but my car was £21,000 and I don’t put that in a case or cover it with panels of clear plastic when I drive it around town.

To me a bare midnight green pro with a few (albeit regrettable) war wounds looks and feels far more stunning and premium than a pristine one bloated with covers and cases.

i thought it was obvious I was referring to the people that came to post they’ve never had, and never will use a screen protector LoL.
How is that "smug?" I've dropped my iPhone twice in the past ten years (iPhone 3GS and iPhone 7 Plus) but I've never used cases or screen protectors. I don't like the way they feel. Why does that make me smug???? I'm just careful with my electronics, and I realize that at the end of the day it's just a phone and I'll replace it in less than a year. So who cares if it gets a little bit scratched?

A good Screen protector will protect the oleophobic coating on the screen as well as protect the screen from all those hairline scratches
Remember the word’ good’ when you buy one
