This is Day 14 with my Samsung-chipped 6s. I will have it on Day 15. From all I've read about this chip controversy, it seems much ado about very little, if anything at all.

I haven't even checked mine. Why am I posting in this thread then you might ask?

Well to be honest I'm just curious reading the apparent differences between CPUs.

The reason I haven't checked is because I've been happy with my phone so far, it's quick, the battery life is extremely good, but if I suddenly check what chip I have, and I find out it's the "bad" one I'll end up driving myself crazy for no apparent reason.

I'm wondering if no one knew about the two different manufacturer supplied chips if people would even have noticed a difference? If you were to run two of the same chips side by side there would be variances in performance, heck in continuous benchmarking with a single device you won't necessarily get the same results time in, time out

If people are having genuine battery issues, extreme heat etc then I think they should without hesitation get their unit replaced. But as it stands there are people exchange perfectly working devices "just because".

You realise some of you have the "worse" displays right? It's not the just chips that Apple has sourced from different manufacturers?

Anyway whether it's a Samsung or TSMC, I'd rather have a 6S plus than any other phone right now.

I have the Samsung in 64gb 6s plus. It runs extremely hot. I only have two days left to return. It also has a couple of very faint purplish dark color spots in upper screen. Never been picky before but maybe I should exchange or just return and wait until after Christmas. I'm not getting that great of battery life and that's with most stuff turned off.

If you return it now, you won't have any questions asked. So you won't have to prove that it's running hot, or the battery sucks, or whatever. If you wait till after Christmas, and your phone passes the diagnostics, there's nothing saying you'll be able to return it.

In your case I'd exchange it. Samsung chip aside, if a device is getting unusually hot and it has screen defects that effect the daily use of your device then I'd exchange it.

While I'm not as picky as I used to be, I have spotlighting on the top of my screen for example, but if I had certain other screen issues I'd exchange it without a doubt.

On a smartphone the screen is one of the most important parts of the device as it's what you interact with most of the time. I find people use the phone part of smartphones less and less nowadays.

Out of interest by dark colour spots do you mean the "spotlighting" other people have posted about? Like here https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/anyone-experience-backlight-issues-on-iphone-6s-plus.1923142/ Or literally dark blotches?

If it's what is in the thread I've linked to, then it's pretty common unfortunately.

My iPhone 6s Plus (Samsung Chip) has never gotten hot. However, I don't max out the CPU

Two things... I can get hundreds of hours of use if I cut off the part that says "iPhone has been plugged in since the last full charge". Not saying you did that, but you cut off the screenshot too close to tell.

Please elaborate on this. You state I cut something out of the image. However, if you look at the battery page it doesn't state anywhere whether it has been plugged in since being fully charged, and for that matter why would anyone want to tamper with it.

I have shared my findings so people can compare the two chips, not to be the recipient of a persons paranoid accusations :D

Thanks for pointing it out. Yes it looks like that only on right side.

I agree with tlou, for what it's worth. I don't see that as a what-chip-you-have issue. It's a new phone that's not acceptable that you've laid out a premium price.

I don't have any issues of the sort, so I've let Day 14 come and now go, since the Apple Stores are closed in my neck of the woods for the night.

Hope you the best in getting a good one.

No one has claimed that the 6s (1715 mAh) is supposed to have greater battery life than the Plus (2750 mAh). The Plus has a much larger battery.

Plus mon is so much larger. All my friends have 6s battery life are longer than 6s plus. Coild be because a 6s tsmc has longer battery life than 6s plus samsung.

So they have the TSMC? I wasn't aware most of the 6s plus had Samsungs.

I've returned my iPhone twice so far. First one was a tsmc chip but the home button was very crunchy and loud. Second had a dark corner in the upper left and was a Samsung. Third, my current one, is a Samsung. Corner upper left is still a bit darker I think. Home button is good.

In conclusion: home button and screen are more important to me than anything else, unless your phone gets very hot, keep the Samsung. But return it if your screen sucks. Unfortunately apple's screens aren't that great. I'd rather have the tsmc but returning a third time is a bit much, and my screen or home button might be worse than my current one.

We are also only keeping them for one year ;) so I'll live with the Samsung.

What is the best way to check which chip you have, i remember reading there was an app called lirum but it has been pulled from the app store.

I keep mine longer. I pay full price. I've had the 4s looks new and still going strong. I really don't need this 6s plus. I may return it.

Just exchanged my 6s+ due to a faint blue book spine effect on the left hand of the screen.

The original was a TSMC chip and the new one is a Samsung. Too early to tell if there are any differences but assuming the phone works fine I don't care as the screen is more important to me than some benchmark results and an hour or so screen on time.

Just exchanged my 6S+ for the second time.
The first one had a very dodgy home button and the second one had a strange screen fault, the colour temp changed from blue to smokey yellow whenever it felt like it. This third one hasn't got the screen fault...but it does have a Samsung chip.:D
I shall see how the battery life pans out because I had my last TSMC phone for weeks and got a consistent 9-12.5 hours of battery life depending on usage.

I expect your Samsung battery is around 6-8 hours.

Are you exchanging through the Genius Bar ?

It's a shame that this new phone came with 9.0.2 preinstalled, as my last one had 9.0.1
I hadn't updated it as my battery life was fantastic and I'd heard a few people say that 9.0.2 was not so good for battery runtime.
SO, if this Samsung chip turns out worse how will I know if it's because it's not on 9.0.1?
Bah, it isn't a level playing field.:D
