So it seems like everyone is getting differing information on how to turn the phone in? I preordered in store for the promotion and was told that I can continue using the phone until my 7+ comes in and then I just bring the 6 in for the promotion. They didn't ask for my IMEI or have my turn off Find my Phone.
So is there anything we have to do specifically to get in on this? Or do we just order the phones with next?
Can someone walk me through how getting the iPhone 8 next year will work on this program if you do the Next Year or the Next? I trade in my 6 plus to ATT, get the credits on my phone bill. Say the 8 comes out fall 2017, a year from when I got my 7, so I made 12 payments. I will not get the full $650 in credits, I understand it'll be more like half (still not a bad trade-in price). I guess the Next Year choice is better. But will there be any other large payment I'm not seeing?
AFAIK you're correct, you just lose the other 12 credits towards the iPhone 7 by upgrading to iPhone 7S next year, and you'll have to trade in your iPhone 7 to AT&T again.
I plan to bring mine in to the att store so they confirm the condition of my phone.

Has anyone confirmed that AT&T's free iPhone 7 with trade in can taken advantage of in store on Friday or is the promotion only for preorders? I'm considering canceling my order and just getting the phone in store on Friday.
While not confirmed, someone on here said that a rep told them this offer expires on September 15 which would mean it was for preorders only.
There are different dates given of when the promotion will end (some reps say the 15th, some said the 16th, some said no end date as of now) but, you are assuming that they will have the phone you want on launch day. If you have an early ship date, you might as well keep your pre order and then just go trade your phone in at the store after you receive it.

I thought I read that too. I'm online with AT&T chat but I'm not sure if I trust their knowledge. I've always gotten my phones on release day so I was just curious. Obviously I will wait for my order to arrive if that's the only way to get the promotion.
just got off the phone and yes they will allow you to take it in on friday! also if you pre-orderer you have 30 days to take it in to the at&t store and they will credit you the phone monthly so in sense you get a free phone

The 30th is for Puerto Rico.
Rest of the U.S. deadline had not been determined is what I was told.
I went in store today and signed up for the Next every year (24 payments). It was so much better than dealing with their online ordering. I got the impression they have not been told when the promo ends, but I didn't ask this question. I was able to reduce one of my old iPads on my account from $40 to $20 by going from 3gb to 1gb, so that will lower the monthly bill. My phone will come into the store so I'll turn in my 6+phone at that time (and they'll help setting up/transferring to the new phone). I went with matte black so I can get it Oct 14-21 instead of a late Nov date for Jet Black.
I also learned more about their insurance and I may go that way instead of Applecare because it can also cover your laptops for theft. Maybe there's a thread somewhere about the insurance.

No. Nothing at all. Just pre-order and take the phone in after getting the new one.
Did you check Apple.com/AppleStore App first? You may have been able to secure an earlier date...
I didn't because I thought I had to buy it from ATT to get the promo of the iPhone 6 turn in and going on the ATT Next year program. Is that not true?
