"qualifying service" certainly doesn't sound like grandfathered, dying to get you off of it unlimited plans, qualifies.
Yes, that is what I fully expect to happen. Next is just a payment plan on a loan from AT&T. As long as you have not paid off the loan, or cancelled the loan by doing an upgrade through them, then you are still going to be making monthly Next payments and be getting monthly credits until the phone is paid off. I intend to buy the 2017 phone, assuming is a big redesign, via Apple Upgrade Plan or full price out right. The only way this could screw us over is if there is an even better Next offer in 2017 requiring an iPhone 7 trade in. Then we would have to miss out on that deal (or do an early payout of this deal which would negate some of the benefit). However, I fully expect this to be the last such "free phone" offer since this was hastily put together this morning in response to TMobile and Verizon's deals and not fully thought out. I think AT&T is going to be taking a bath on all of these trade ins. No way they are losing less money by giving everyone $650 vs losing a few people to TMobile because of TMobile's free phone offer.
gotcha so between that and unlimited, I'm most likely ineligible for this offer huh?
they're smart to not send the email followup to those that need to trade in until after shipping the phone, further lure ya in![]()
This isn't the first time they've done something like this. A few years ago I traded in my iphone 4 for $200. I think it was when the 6 came out.
There is conflicting information about the $50/month requirement.where???
This is from their website right now:
I am on a $40 a month plan.
I think some of you are overreacting. That $50 most likely includes data and cell combined, not just data.
"Get iPhone 7 for $0 when you trade in an eligible iPhone*
when you buy on AT&T Next® with qual. wireless svc. (min. $50/mo.). iPhone 7 32GB free after $650 in monthly bill credits. Tax due at sale."
That's what it shows now.
Steve: You do qualify, it is $50 all together. Your plan will have access charges so you do qualify. Don't worry you will get that offer
overreacting perhaps, but also its at&t, I can see them just shrugging and moving on and capturing 'tmobile copy cat' marketing that comes and goes
Yeah I just don't want to rely on their good merit for 24 months, edit: 30 months, in a row to uphold the deal. Not worth the head ache to talk to support to get it applied or convince people on the AT&T side.
Would rather the flexibility than not. But it's good for people who unambiguously will get the deal
if i had a 6 16gb i'd probably gamble it , for the gains
but with a 6s+ 64 the only better model is 128 6s+, so I could probably get around $500 resell for mine, and a $150 hit or so to just get it over with, and not worry about crap, is probably worth it to me at this point come to think of it,
and its jailbroken, and going cold turkey without phablet if i got a defective 7+ or something, i can already see it getting ugly and being regrettable.
will still likely wet my feet on the 7/7+ but maybe thats good too
i was concerned that the 7+ wouldn't qualify and asked about it because it just keeps referencing free iPhone 7 32gb. At first they said only the 7 and then I mentioned that I read 7/7+ and then they said it was ok. What do they mean two promotions?? Here's part of the convo.
So do they just send an email out if we preordered? Or do i need to call in and cancel and do another order with the trade in?
Did you pre order on a Next plan and do you have a pif phone to trade in?
I am missing something. I have a 6+ 128gb. I am going to preorder a 7+ 128gb. It won't ship until Oct 7 at the earliest. How do I get this "free" promo when there is nothing in the "checkout" process that mentions it?
Has anyone got an answer to this. I am ready to move on it, but don't want to loss the "free" on some technicality.
Yes 30 next plan and 6plus 64gb paid off
