Still not a good deal...

I have one of the second iteration mobile share value plans
  • 20gb (Double Data Deal on 10gb Plan) ($100)
  • No limit tethering
  • $15/Line
  • No upgrade fees...
  • FAN discount

4 Lines ~$160/month with FAN discount applied and on average 30gb of data available
I have the same deal...i fought for 2 weeks with retentions to get it ...but im dumping it friday and switching 5 lines to unlimited plus. No more worrying about my kid goin over. We cud stream video again. And also 2 other grandfathered udp lines get tethering finally.....and wait til 5g arrives in 3 years it will eat up data like rheres no tomorrow. U will be strangling on your capped 20 gigs. Att wud never in a million years offered this great new plan if it wasnt for verizons new plan. Im sure its killin those greedy bastards to have to do this. But they were bleeding customers at an alarming rate. .... so im taking advantage of the situation and lockin up unlimited now while its. available again

Nice announcement AT&T. Still, how is this any different than, or better than, my original unlimited contract that I have held for years and years and years?

I have been with AT&T since before they bought up AirTouch Cellular. In fact, I have been with them since before they bought L.A. Cellular. I am a plank-holder in the original unlimited contract. I don't know if this makes me rare and glorified or just plain stupid.

Actually, I'm kinda apathetic. But now that this has been announced, I want to know how is it any different, and how is it better?
You get tethering, you get unlimited calls to canada and mexico, and it's available to everyone due to TMO putting the fire under everyone's feet. It's not necessarily better than what you have, aside from the fact that new everyone doesn't have to rely on buying someones old phone line to have it available to them, or jump through stupid hoops like signing up for direct tv if they don't want to.

So can I apply auto pay and corporate discounts ? I don't see a option where I get 5 off with auto pay ? Also I'm on corporate and don't see the new plans yet , I see that someone else did ?

Nothing starts till Thursday. So there is probably things that will be updated from now till then.

Thanks. Looking for more of this.

The new plans listed above aren't out officially right?

Correct, nothing starts till Thursday. He said they are just receiving the "FAQs" but my FAN applies.

Long gone. ATT cut out subsidies a year or more ago. The original ATT grandfathered unlimited plan makes 0 economic sense anymore with the $5 increase and this current crop of unlimited offers. Grandfathered plans do not include texts or unlimited talk and no tethering. So anyone who still has a grandfathered plan is actually paying more for less. I dumped my grandfathered plan a couple weeks ago for TMob. Pretty happy so far with their service and saving $100 a year. But if something happens to the quality I can switch to VZW tomorrow.
Only if the FAN discounts apply. Even with the $5 increase I'll be paying less than $80 after taxes for the Nation 450 with unlimited data and unlimited text. Retentions added unlimited M2M two years ago, and since Wi-Fi calls don't use up minutes that's never an issue, particularly with rollover minutes.

If my FAN would apply, then the new plan would be about $90 after taxes for me.

The grandfathered plan still works well for single lines. It's the family lines that it gets stupidly overpriced. I'm $185 for 550 minutes for 3 lines after 21% FAN. Even without the FAN the new plan is 8 dollars a month cheaper.

Too little, too late, AT&T. I have no regrets leaving you and going to T-Mobile.

I'll just be over here enjoying my T-Mobile service where I don't get price gauged each month.

After getting screwed over by DirecTV so many times in my 8 years with them, I will NEVER AGAIN give them my money and will speak against their company as much as I am able.

I would love to do that. Especially with the new $100 for 3 lines promo. But TMO just can't hold up to AT&T in my area. The speeds are less than half. And the single strength is consistently 1-2 bars less.

Well, it may be time for me to consider the Unlimited Plus and dump my grandfather unlimited plan. What really bothers me on my current plan is that ATT charges me for text messages. Yes, I know, it is 2017 but back in the day when I got this plan I did not include text message to save maybe $10 as month. Now, if I get someone that is not on my iMessage or WhatsApp I am charged by text message which is ridiculous. I am currently paying $130 for 2 lines including taxes for a 550 minutes (which we never use) but only my line has unlimited data and my wife gets 3GB. If they include my FAN discount I will probably consider a change.

I'm on T-Mobile, with about 10 lines (business plan)

But I fail to see why anyone is still on AT&T.

With T-Mobile being the cheaper option, and Verizon having a vastly better network than AT&T while still being cheaper, it astounds me that people are still on AT&T.

This is not meant as a personal attack, please explain why you wouldn't switch from them?

It's a lot of upfront cost. My family has three devices on Next plans. To pay all of those off and switch would be close to $1800. Although T-Mobile "pays you to switch," it's in the form of a VISA gift card months later.

Ugh... The entire U.S. mobile service provider industry is STILL such a GD joke. Clearly, they're making it hand over fist. Obviously leaves zero incentive for them to change.
And that AT&T expects users to switch up their TV provider (and potentially their ISP) for their crappy TV offering in the name of a pricey unlimited + tethering plan, is just sad. And not the kind of sad you feel compassion towards. More like the kid of sad that infuriates.

I mean, it's 2017... Cars are driving themselves. Can someone please figure this **** out? It seems beyond ripe for someone to come in and shock the system. And not what T-Mo is doing. I mean radically redefine the whole GD mobile thing. And yes, I know it's "more complicated than that." Still... I'm pretty sure we have other things to be thinking about/working on. I can't be the only one who feels his way.

Sorry. Rant over. Just a topic that makes my face split open and melt.

Why sign up now? Wait another week or two and a better deal will come along. Make them sweat. If anything, this was probably done to prevent them bleeding out. You have to make it "competitive enough" that people don't feel like switching.

I just left DirecTV, between my cell phone bill and my DirecTV bill, I was paying a lot to them, for them to say I am a loyal customer, but offer new customers a better deal.

I'm an AT&T customer for 9 years now. Single line user. I find this incredibly insulting. Why wouldn't I simply leave for VZW and save $10 a month? I thought they would undercut VZW by $5, not this BS. And that choice plan is a joke at those ridiculous speeds.

When it's time to upgrade I will probably leave for VZW. Plus their phones are by default unlocked for international GSM use unlike AT&T.

Every time these american data plans are presented i laugh:) look up at the skylines if you wonder where your money is going.
Unlimited 4g everything is about 17$ here

For about $70/month, we get coverage in approximately 1.9 million square miles. (US land area is 3.8 million square miles, but about half of it is uninhabited and has no roads and thus no coverage, so I estimate half for purposes of this comparison, which is actually very conservative.) So that works out to about $0.04 / thousand square miles of coverage / month.

Denmark has 16.5 thousand square miles. Assuming 100% coverage, at $17/month, that's ~$1 / thousand square miles of coverage / month. In this way, our data plans a steal compared to yours.

Even if we your plan includes coverage in a few other neighboring countries, $ / land area / month costs are likely more or similar to the US. Our country is very big, and the populated areas are far apart. It takes a lot of cell phone towers to cover it all - a lot more than in Denmark.

Also, we do have local regional prepaid carriers that generally only cover some local smaller area that are a lot more affordable to the folks that don't want coverage in all 50 states. These tend to cost a lot less, and might even have better local coverage in far-away areas like Alaska.

Bye-bye T-mobile :) I like the plan. 5 dollars more expensive than VZW. I don't want to stay with T-mobile or VZW congested networks in my area. I like that it is truly unlimited Canada, not chunky 500 mB.
I had old Att UDPs 4 lines and switched after the price increase and expensive Canada/Mexico roaming.

I just have just two question:

1. still have promo 35 dollars DirectTVNow, are they going to drop the price to 10 dollars or not?
2. On what amout can I have FAN discount?
3. Can I use BoGo on iphones 7 ?

P.S. No more Philippines call center. I cannot believe it.

Fine print says the discount doesn't apply to the $35 Go Big plan. This would be $5 a month more for me with 4 lines than I'm paying now on last week's unlimited plan, so I'm out without that $25 discount.

With the addition of tethering, it is now a deal (as far as at&t is concerned).
If you're a direcTV NOW customer like me, it's a great deal. I'm on the $35/mo. plan and unless there is some fine print, it means i will have 100 channels of cable for $10/mo. which isn't bad at all.

I didn't scroll through the remaining posts so not sure if you're aware. I was thinking it would be a great deal as I'm also on the $35 plan. With AT$T I'm used to reading the fine print. Looks like we're out of luck.

The DIRECTV NOW $35 Go Big plan is excluded from the $25 credit. From the fine print "DIRECTV NOW (excludes Go Big $35/mo. plan)"

well, that's a deal killer for me. even then, i probably wasn't going to switch back. the coverage is so much better than t-mobile.

Trust me, I sat on the fence for awhile debating on switching to T-Mobile, but was worried about what the coverage was like in my area. Fortunately I was able to test their network via a cheap prepaid plan. When I saw the coverage was just as good, maybe a tad better than AT&T, I jumped ship.

Granted the signal strength at our place was 1-2 bars with AT&T and is about the same with T-Mobile (maybe I'll get three bars depending on where I'm at in the house).

This argument will soon be moot, since the EU will end roaming fees later this year (which means European customers will be able to use their plans in the entire EU). Yes, Europe is smaller in terms of land area, but bigger in terms of population ...

I'm getting ready to cancel my three month DTVN trial, so that's no biggie. But we have DTV, so that's a nice perk.
