Same here ..I live by Allentown, PA which is about 45 minutes from you ! I will be heading to AT&T this weekendNo resolve in and around philly. this really is BS. I deal with IT upgrades on a major scale. If the go live fails there is a contingency plan. So this is totally unacceptable.... I use my phone for work and sending email is awful at 34kbps....
Instead of posting our complaints here on Macforums, is there somewhere else where action would be taken? Is AT&T working on this? Is there a place to complain to AT&T about this and open up a trouble ticket?
I am soooo happy I dumped the iP4 for the Sprint EVO. Almost 2mbps download in Brooklyn. And the phone actually makes calls!
I called them. Was on the phone for 2 hours. Cliff notes..
its an iphone issue.
really I replaced my iphone had it on both phones..
we need you to restore the phone ans swap the sim there are no tower issues in your area so not an ATT issue.
Ok what happens when I do that and it doesn't work.. You will have to call back but we are pretty sure its your iphone.
Funny cause I am having issues with my 3gs as well.
We report no tower issues.
I will need you to swap your sim and test your connection at work then at home..
At this point is just said EFFF IT. I can't take talking in circles anymore. You say its apple... apple says ATT so wtf do I do I have no one to goto.. Just fix it and tell me how long its gonna take or don't charge me for data.....
If my internet provider did this it would be an issue don't cha think? They wouldn't tell me to take it up with the company that makes my cable modem.... IDK pretty fired up over this..

Found this at the apple discussion boards:
" finally got my phone working properly in an area that I could not connect to 3G data, only with Edge. Here's my post from my original thread...
SOLVED!
After talking with a very helpful gentleman at AT&T yesterday, I fixed my issue! Seems as though my phone's profile in AT&T's system was the culprit. He looked into all the towers around the affected area, and everything seemed to be fine (Nokia equipment, not Lucent lol). So he wiped my config data from their system and pushed an update over the air. After a couple minutes, I turned on 3G again and tried loading a web page. It worked! Man, I'm so happy that I finally got the only issue I'm having with the phone resolved. Hopefully this helps anyone else out that is experiencing issues with data connectivity. Give AT&T a call, get an experienced tech and have them reset your data and push an over-the-air update to you."
What do you guys think ?
There is nothing wrong, AT&T is capping the speeds on purpose. Their network is bunk. All across the country their "lucent" equipment worked fine from June 24th, until the weekend of the 4th. Then mysteriously it goes down? AT&T is throttling areas where their network is overly constrained. There will never be a fix, they're going to just keep ducking their heads and hope that this furor dies down. Typical AT&T response to problems.
right...for 4G speeds, you get *almost* 2Mbps downstream? I get that right now and my 3G is actually being crippled by AT&T. When it wasn't broke, I would get on average of 4.4Mbps downstreamand over 1.5Mbps upstream and that's on an overcast day here in Seattle.
Glad that Evo4G worked out for ya 🙄
take off your tin foil hat. I live in a town of over 6 million and we have no issued here. you saying that the network is not overly constrained in a city of 6 million?

Wow, those speeds are insane. Can you make a phone call?
