whats weird is when they moved my date further back i had just upped my text plan. so i was spending $10 more!! makes no sense'

for the people that used their upgrade on the 3gs and now getting their dates changed. Are they changing it so your eligible for the 399 499 pricing or the full discounted 199 299?

The change made to mine today allows me the full discounted price of either $199 or $299 for 16Gb and 32Gb 3GS, respectively. And I purchased the 3GS last year on launch day, which has been less than 12 months. And my bill has never been over $100, even after taxes, at any point during the contract. This goes against what AT&T says is their normal policy about early upgrades. It really looks to me as if they are trying to get us to go ahead and lock into another contract with them, even if it means tossing out their normal rules about early upgrades. I've never thought that Apple might be releasing a non-AT&T iPhone at WWDC, but to me, this really does point to that. Why else would AT&T want us (the ones that they've given this early upgrade exception to) to be able to get the new 4th gen iPhone this early?

Well they did the same thing by pushing the dates up last year with the 3GS I think.

just checked my upgrade elig on friday and it said i wasnt able to upgrade for a full sub until 6/20/10.

just checked today (*639#) and recieved a text saying as a valued customer, we can offer you an upgrade with a new 2-yr commitment with an $18 upgrade fee

Does anyone think that AT&T is allowing us iPhone users to upgrade early to the new iPhone 4G so that in a couple months when the iPhone is announced on Sprint or Verizon, we will be locked in to a 2 year contract and will have to shell out the hefty ETF fee in order to go to Sprint/Verizon (which a lot of us do want to do)?

Same here, except I was previously eligible on 8/8/10. Just checked today and I'm eligible now with an $18 upgrade fee.

No, they've done this in the past.

IIRC, they only pushed up the dates of the people who were very close to meeting their normal terms of AT&T's early upgrade status (average over $100 per line, etc). To the ones who weren't close to meeting that, they offered the "discount" pricing of $399 and $499. But this year, with me for example, I spend less than $100 a month, and am only 11 months into a 24 month contract. That seems pretty new for AT&T.

So for my situation:

I am on a family plan, and I am not the main person on this plan. I am eligible for discounted pricing, but my full upgrade is on 02/23/2011.
I ordered last year as soon as we were able to. (Online ordering)

I called AT&T and they told me they know of no such thing going on. They only told me what I already knew, that the Full Upgrade would be available on the date above.

Our plan consist of 4 people, and we pay well over $200 + a month (Now a little less since I registered my school and got some discounts.)

I still plan on using my sister's upgrade as she is eligible... But I really wouldn't want to. Anyone in the same situation as me yet had results as far as being eligible tomorrow or so?

Only the primarily line is eligible for an upgrade every 12 months.

Since you are not the primary line you will have to wait 18-21 months for full subsidy upgrade of $199-299.

You may get an early partial upgrade for $399/499when the 4th gen iPhone launches. But remember if you do the partial upgrade it will set you back another 18-21 months on the line you are partially upgrading.

Im mad

Att put me on hold for more than 30 mintues when i called them about the upgrade. The reason i called att is that I got 2 iphone on the account and only the main line get the full upgrade and they wont do an early upgrade for the other line. Anyone know the reason for the full upgrade? Excuse my english

See the post directly above yours.

I bought a refurbed 8gb 3G last February. When I checked Saturday I was eligible for a partial discount, full discount on 10/25/2010. Checked just now and am eligible for the full discount with a new two-year contract. Holler.:)

EDIT: Now it has reverted back to partial discount. Frustrating.

DOUBLEEDIT: Now its back to full discount. Wonderful.

Just like last year, mine moved up at the last minute. Sometime in the last 72 hours, my upgrade date went from October 2010 to "currently available."

I bought the original iPhone, the 3G, and the 3GS all on launch day or within the following week. Spend just under $100/month.

Well, they hadn’t changed mine a few days ago, but I just checked and it’s been changed from August to now.

OP, go to edit>go advanced if you’d like to change your title from eligability to eligibility.

I was originally due in October for a subsidized upgrade but now I am showing eligible. The 3GS prices are $199 - $299 for me. I am fully eligible. Not sure if I am going to upgrade but it's nice to see.

Thanks!

Now if only I could just change my line to the primary line. I am the only one who seems to know and care about phones anyways:p

Yes, I think this has a lot to do with what is going on.
My eligibility has changed as well.

I am beginning to notice a trend here.

Last year iPhone 3GS was released in June. So AT&T allowed all users to move up their full $199/299 eligibility up by 3 months.

So anyone eligible up till September 30th 2009 could have upgraded for the 199/299 price on launch day June 19 2009.

So if people as late as October 2010 full eligibility update are now fully eligible, maybe this means the 4th gen iPhone will be released sometime in July 2010 instead of June 2010 if you use the 3 month move up date rule?

Anyone care to reason with me?

So if this is true I will reason no one with a current November 2010 eligibility upgrade has had their date moved up. So October 2010 is the latest AT&T will move you up to the full upgrade pricing?

Anyone with November 2010 upgrades want to confirm that your date hasn't moved up?

My status just went from not eligible for the upgrade price until October 8, 2010. To currently eligible.

LOL, I have never been this happy before.

Nah.

Add me to those bumped up today - was wondering since I'd increased my plan but still wasn't really expecting it! I have a 3GS and was previously due either November or December 2010.

The 4G/HD would have to be pretty awesome to get me to commit another two years though...
