AT&T Extends iPhone 3G S Upgrade Pricing to Many Customers

Actually YOU don't. I gave a blow by blow of the convo. It is what it is. She said 1) iPhone purchased last July, Aug, Sept 2) $99 or more per line. Like I said.

I'm not argueing with you. I posted the convo and what she said if it would be of interest to people. Back to reading comprehension 101 for you.

I'm on the phone (again) with AT&T. She's telling me what my other lady said last night. All phones PURCHASED July, Aug, Sept are golden. Sigh.

I told her that until my date changes on my screen - I don't believe it and Apple will see the same dates and charge more. She says I'm eligible despite my date being December. Says the system should've updated early this morning. She wants to fix this for me. I'm on hold.......

..... She gets back on the line, says "purchase date (3g launch) & $99 or more". Says emphatically I'm eligible. I say "but my online date hasn't changed, I can't believe anything till I see the date changed and Apple store will see that date and it won't work. They aren't going to look at "notes" saying I'm OK. I'm on hold......

..... She says she can't manually change the dates but can create a case that the upgrades on my online checker are wrong and put in an escalate saying I meet all requirements and the online checker is wrong and needs immediate correction to the correct date (tomorrow). Says technically this takes UP TO 72 hours but may be done sooner. I have a case number and

NOTE: Yesterday I morphed the phones off Family to 2 individuals and made them as close to $99 as possible. ($104.99). At the time I was told this would work. Today's call found the rep instantly seeing $99+ on both accounts which seems to make them happy. This is the 2nd rep since yesterday afternoon to claim the PURCHASE of old phone has to be July, Aug, Sept... not UPGRADE DATE of July, Aug, Sept. I'm taking it. Do I believe it'll happen. Hell no. But I have hope. She was very nice.

Maybe you will just walk into the store and hold it up at gun point. Might be easier then what you went through to backdoor into "borrowing" a new iphone.

I purchased my iphone 3G in July 12, 2008 and my bill has been on average $70 a month.

I forgot to tell you when I do the *new# it still says December instead of now, another plot twist!!!!!! Is it worth upgrading to the 3GS from the 3G if it will screw you out of a subsidized Iphone next year?

Yeah, for the 5 minutes you plan to hold on to that new plan. Do not act like you are in the right. You new that you signed a two year contract and now you want out for the new phone. Just like a little spoiled brat. Next year you will do the same thing even though you will sign a new 2 year contract tomorrow. Hopefully, if you have kids or plan on having kids you can teach them the value of whining enough to get their way. I really couldn't care less what anyone is doing. I am just blown away reading all of the posts on how to get around a signed contract.

what about on your MyWireless upgrade? this is what i was trying to say to you earlier - i fear for you and others that you may not get the 199/299 price no matter what the CSR said.

I am having a hard time deciding if I want to upgrade from the 3G because I don't want to wreck my chances of getting next years model for cheap.

BTW - everyone knows anyone can call or go to AT&T online and change their plan/minutes month to month constantly to handle higher call volume, etc. so you don't go over so pleeeze.

Even if i spent way more than 120$ a month ( on average 160, since last july i spent 1799) i cannot get the 199/299 because my monthly recurring charge is only 98.98 and they require 99$. So basically because of 2 cents a month, i need to pay 200 $, well if i can give them even 1 $ to pay the 24 cents i did not pay over the last year to get the 199/299 price point

I have an iphone 3G as well as the pre(work pays for). I will be upgrading to the iphone 3gs (my personal cell phone). The iphone is such a great device that it is still better than the pre in almost all ways. I paid over $100 every month to get my upgrade for a lower price and I fell it is fair of AT&T to offer the plans to all of the early adopters that paid the price. I do think people like you do not deserve to upgrade but who cares?? You will do whatever it takes to get the job done.

I love to help and offer advice to some really awesome people on this forum. Unfortunately, seeing grown adults act like children annoys me and like you said I am not being constructive in my posts. I will leave you alone. Good luck tomorrow and next year when you want the next phone you didn't pay for.

Shiner - So wow! You paid $1 over the $99 bucks for a whole year? Well I guarantee you I paid more than that to AT&T for each line. WAY more. Funny how that works. One might say I'm more entitled than you eh? But good for you - you're special. Please contact AT&T and tell them they shouldn't allow people to change their plans as needed every month and you feel cheated for paying your $100 for a full year. LMK what they say.

I wouldn't worry too much about meagain, I would say there is a very large chance that she isn't going be getting her 3GS for the price she wants tomorrow. I just don't see it happening.

Maybe if she put as much effort into her carreer as she does trying to scam her way into a new iphone, she would be able to afford to just purchase one outright.

I have a 3G bought the day it came out. My account still says December 12th, although my account is over $99 per month for that line??? Did this update already show up online to those of us who have a qualifying plan? Guess I have to call them, but I thought maybe someone could tell me if it really changed today as it was supposed to?

You apparently don't know AT&T's rules either. That everyone can go online or call to upgrade/downgrade their minutes each month at whim AND have them prorated to the last billing start date. It's how it works. Period. Fact. I did what I'm allowed to do under the rules and 100% legitimately. Period.
