Just got back from the ATT store and the manager said that he was briefed earlier in the day and told that the ATT systems would be officially upgraded tomorrow. He also said to then text the upgrade txt message to see if I was eligible tommorow.

I have a 3G bought the day it came out. My account still says December 12th, although my account is over $99 per month for that line??? Did this update already show up online to those of us who have a qualifying plan? Guess I have to call them, but I thought maybe someone could tell me if it really changed today as it was supposed to?

Thanks.

Scottsdale you probably qualify then. Call AT&T and tell them you bought in July last year and your individual monthly bill has been more than $99/month for the entire year, not just this last two days :), they will let you upgrade at the lower price.

But shouldn't this show up on our account page at ATT.com? I have always paid more than $99, and I thought it was supposed to update on the website today??? When I called yesterday, the rep told me to call in today, but she said it should show up online also... is that correct?

Are you going to upgrade even though it will probably mean you won't be able to get next years model cheap?

Yep. My job is video based and I'm constantly shooting my own personal video with my HD cameras or my Flip Mino. The new iPhone would eliminate the need for the Flip. Plus, I'd be making cash and getting more size. Sold (awaiting payment on eBay) for $450, buying for $299

Im tussling with whether or not to upgrade. The 32gb is the biggest seller for me and if they decide to go to Verizon I could always cancel my contract I guess.

Just some advice, if the iPhone does get released on Verizon in 2011, it'll be like a first gen product because it's a different mode of connecting (CDMA/ GSM). So I'd hold off for gen 2 verizon.

Told the same

I was told the same as alansmallen. Finally something consistant coming from att.

Agree. Since this version of the iphone was the exact same form factor I am expecting something big coming next year and I don't know if I want to risk handcuffing myself you know?

Sadly, I feel that AT&T will continue to cave in to customers for future versions of the iPhone, especially with their exclusivity contract running up.

Tough choice huh. I want to believe AT&T will do the same next year but if they didn't and I screwed myself I'd be pretty mad.

Now people can finally shut up. :D

Not yet. :)

For a brief moment, I was hoping that AT&T finally did want more money from me by allowing me to get an iPhone a few months early. Nope, this only seems to apply for iPhone 3G customers, not if you have some other phone. Unless I can find someone at AT&T who actually can make some decisions, it looks like I'm stuck with an ancient phone for a couple more months. Too bad, since my Nokia's battery is getting pretty weak lately.

honestly, why not go big or go home? depends on what a couple more months is - literally 2, sure. mine's december, and if i can't get a supersubsidy, i'll pay extra 200, because waiting for december is pointless...

Right now I'm looking at about two more months. Considering that I was ready to plunk down $300 last July for the new iPhone 3G (but that didn't happen due to AT&T), I've already been waiting for a year. Probably longer than that considering the iPhone is the first phone I've ever liked.

Either that, or be able to connect an iPod touch to an ever-present network and give it GPS capabilities, then I'd be set.

Otherwise, it looks like another two months, if not more, depending on the financial situation.

Will someone please make the decision for me? Is it worth going from 3G to 3GS or wait until next years model?

If I owned an iPhone 3G, I probably wouldn't bother getting the current model. The most attractive thing to me about the newest model is the increased storage space from 16GB to 32GB.

if you get the supersubsidy, go for it.

Im really worried about next years model. Since this wasn't that spectacular of a change next years should be incredible and if I buy the 3GS I wouldn't qualify for a subsidy unless they do this kind of deal again.

Ok so now i am getting from the premier customer service that they don't honor the regular at&t upgrade requirements ! And they won't tell me what they are looking at for the upgrade price !
I am really going to kill someone ;) ! Is there something to do to speak to someone who can exactly explain me and take decision ?
Thanks

I guess I could always sell it on ebay or craiglist to make up the cost of not getting a subsidy, hmm, I may have convinced myself to pull the trigger!

I'm on hold with the "premier" support... apparently there's extremely long hold times of estimated 30 minutes....

I went into my AT&T account and my upgrade date is 7/30/09 but it's still showing a $399 / $499 price point. I'm gonna stab someone in the face.

Hey, could someone please answer me, is anyone with a 3G's account showing now as update date with a greater than $99 monthly plan? This whole thread is supposed to be that AT&T was to have today's date show as upgrade date for those of us with 3G since its release and have greater than $99 monthly plan. Mine is still showing 12/12/09! Is anyone's showing now with 3G and over $99? Or, did it not update yet?
