Was told that the code was no longer valid to be added to new accounts. Is there a secret codeword or something to make this work?

Are you sure you have a FAN account? And just say you know someone who recently added this code, and you're not sure what the issue is. Again, TMB9 should work, TMS4 will not.
 
I got mine added in the late night hours. There usually isn't many calls at those hours but the rep did add it but said it might have not stuck because they were doing maintenance with the site. I called in the next day and asked if it was on my account and they said no. Called back again and told them about the code. They said that they couldn't add it to my account, told them that the rep added it but it was during maintenance so she wasn't sure if it would stick and they finally added it on. :D

Maybe you can say that the rep added it on but it was during maintenance, and if they could check/and or reapply it?

If I may add, ask them to remove your current messaging plan (whether that's the 200SMS for $5, 1500SMS for $15) and then replace it using the current feature code TMB9 (750SMS for $7.49)

Yeah did the whole polite thing, joked with the guy and normal small talk on the phone. Still answer was they couldn't. I'll try tomorrow.

Edit - Just got CLL2 added to my account. That means I pay $5 for 200 text + CLL2 which gives me an extra 200 text, that means 400 text/month for $5, not bad.

I just said I had my college FAN # and that many of my mates had added that feature code. The rep searched, added it and then in my curiosity that I asked that if she could find out if the TMB9 code showed up so I could replace CLL2 with TMB4 (I don't mind paying $2.50 for 350 extra text). No luck, TMB9 didn't appear and I finished the call with only CLL2 added. I'll call back tomorrow and see if I can get it.
 
I just called and added CLL2 but I'm not seeing the extra messages online yet. I called about an hour ago. I just told the rep when I signed up for the FAN discount a rep at the ATT store told be about the code and he added it.
 
OK something weird happened. I gave the rep the CLL2 code but I didn't get 200 bonus texts. The only new thing I see is 40 "Text/IM Messaging." Does anyone know what happened? Should I call back? Also, what's the difference between text/im and just texting?

There is no difference between Text/IM and just texting. Old IM clients for older phones used to use text messages to do IM. Now, smartphones do IM via data plans instead of texts. It's a grandfathered name to the type of messaging.

I think I got it. It's a bit confusing when they separated the the text counts like that. When I'm done with my 200 integrated messages will the text/im bar start counting?

Not always, I've had that similar experience before when CLL2 was pro-rated and I've got that $5 for 200SMS plan. On my current account, before I even added CLL2, I had 150 out of 200 texts used, thinking that the CLL2 (wasn't prorated, which was stupid of me) I thought I'd be having 350 left to use. I kept on texting and when I reviewed my account, they still took a few out of the pro-rated CLL2 feature and more on the remaining $5 SMS plan <-- they never fully used my $5 for 200 plan, instead I had surcharges. :mad:

So be warned, I suggest wait for a full billing cycle before fully using a feature because of the prorated stuff.

How long does this change take to reflect in my AT&T account page? Nothing yet...

Check at your OLAM, under Features, View All Included Features. It should change under your Voice & Data Usages. Usually I'd say wait for a full billing cycle so you could take advantage of the whole 750 SMS not the prorated one.
 
What exactly did you say to them?


I told them that I have a FAN discount and wanted to see if I could get a deal on messages. I told her the code I was"given" and she ran it in the system and viola. She also said that I would see it on the next bill. I went back to check the website on my account. It reset my messages back to zero. :D
