I told them that I have a FAN discount and wanted to see if I could get a deal on messages. I told her the code I was"given" and she ran it in the system and viola. She also said that I would see it on the next bill. I went back to check the website on my account. It reset my messages back to zero. :D

I already added the code to my account but thank you.

ATT can look it up for you.

If you don't want to go that route, try googling your schools name and "ATT discount"

Shouldn't be too hard for a college student.
I only found how to add the FAN which I already have. Rayfire mentioned that not all FANs are eligble for CLL2 which is what I was asking about. I guess I'll just have to find out.

Precisely, on some forums including my own personal experience, CLL2 does drop after a month on certain college/university FANs. Mind you I've used a University FAN for that CLL2 and it still dropped lol. I don't know what's the right FAN list applicable for CLL2, you have to try to find out :p Good luck!

I have a FAN account and I tried calling AT&T and asked them for feature codes but they said I have to apply for them in the store and not over the telephoe. Also I have to show proof of eligilbiity as well. Is this a new rule or something? I have tried many representatives and they told me the same thing. Maybe I am late on these changes.

Also does anyone know if AT&T keeps a history of all my calls? Maybe they saw that I have called in many times and the representative knows that I have called in before and decided to give me the same response.

Do you think I should keep calling in and ask them for the feature codes? Or should I just give up. I want the cll2 and u200 features.

You can't add these codes in store. Every time has been over the phone for me. My eligibility was presumed from registering with my university email address. I don't know how different that is for an employer-based one.

The CSR can add notes to your account regarding your calls. Sometimes they don't write them, and sometimes they don't read them.

Keep trying within reason. I wouldn't try too many times in one day simply because of your own sanity.

Boo, I just tried again and I got a nice guy this time. He searched for the codes CLL2 and U200 but he couldn't find anything. He asked his coworker and was told that AT&T doesn't offer those codes anymore. As for the TMB9, he said that it will not work with my iPhone plan. I even lied and told him that "my friend" was able to get these codes but he still said it won't work for me.

Maybe I'll try tomorrow again. hahaha. 7th time is a charm!

Sorry-stupid question. What is a fan#?

It's explained somewhere in this thread but to make it short, it is a Foundation Account Number (FAN) which basically works like a discount. Businesses/Organizations/Schools/Colleges or whoever that has an agreement with AT&T can offer the FAN number. This FAN # entitles you for a discount, which is only applicable on certain things (i.e. voice plans, accessories) - which depends on the company/business/org/school/college that you have. Discount varies from 8%-28%, it is mainly dependent upon what the agreement has. You can apply either by going to an AT&T Corporate store and presenting your paystub/work badge/id or via online: To get one if you're an AT&T subscriber, visit this.

Thanks-looks like by filling out that form, you are committing to a charge and a change in account.

Since I am a personal account holder and my employer does not have a corporate plan, I guess I get no fan discount?

Yeah unfortunately they decided to charge a $36 Sponsorship Fee when you add a FAN to your account. Feel free to drop by at your local AT&T store, bring a stub, and ask if your company has a FAN. It doesn't necessarily mean that you need to have a corporate plan to get it activated.

Weird, I never got charged those $36. Did that fee just come into effect? Or is it something from long time?

Just checked and CLL2 got knocked off from 2 of my lines. (Only told the rep to add it to 2). It was on for a good 2 months.

What does Y200 do?

They just added it in this year, around June or July I think. The sponsorship fee doesn't kick in if you are adding your FAN within 30 day of activating the line or upgrading I believe.

That would make sense. When I was signing up a few weeks ago and got my iPhone the ATT guy upon hearing I worked for the place I work said oh dude lets get you set up with the FAN discount now instead of later as we get a good discount on the data as well (which I found out almost no other FAN discounts get am I correct) Said I would have a link on my email waiting for me and to click the link after my actual ATT wirless account online was set up.

I did that verified my info and boom discount applies, but there was nothing anywhere (even in the fine print about $36 bucks I assumed that maybe it was cause he sent me the link or something but actually your explanation makes more sense.
