Carrier AT&T iPhone 12 - Don't Have 5G as a Dropdown Option in Settings?

I know about the others. But the other 2 plans give you a number before slow down. Starter gives you no number. So what exactly does use “a lot” of data means. Like 10/20/30gb a month?

No, there is no number on the starter. It can slow anytime from the get go if it’s congested/peak usage. It’s not a gaurantee that you will be slowed, however.

The rep took my IMEI number but so far nothing happened. I guess mine isn’t a imei number issue. She said she’s going to ship a new SIM card. She charged total $4 and included expedited shipping. I just checked the order status and now it’s showing preparing to ship. I asked her If this sim has different specs and she said yes. It’s good for you if by updating imei resolves your issue. If not try the sim option. I will update here if sim resolves my issue.

is anyone who does see 5G still using the old sim from 11 or earlier? went through every single reply and everyone dances around those specifics. <3

After several calls with an ATT person (she was very nice and called back), the issue turned out to be that I was using a SIM card from my (now old) iPhone 11, which was not recognized as 5G. Once she input my IMEI and set it up/provision as 5G it started working (after a few restarts).

Best part is...here in LA my 4G ("5Ge") is 70Mpbs and and 5G was 62Mbps! Totally worth it. :\

And the worst part is, not only is the data speed not any better. But it used ur battery a hell of a lot more than 4G.

Why does it say sim for iPhone 8 when those aren’t even sold anymore?

And add to the fact that Apple cut the battery size roughly 10%. Even with some more efficiencies with the 5Nano meter process, ya have 5g that sucks more and smaller battery, it just seems to stand to reason. I’ll use that smart mode instead of 5g all the time to try to balance it out

IT FINALLY POPPED UP.

The last three things I did a couple hours ago:

Update my IMEI online
Put my phone on airplane mode, shut it off, reboot with airplane mode still on, then switch back to cellular/wifi
For the past hour it’s just been charging

I’m not sure what triggered it but that’s what I’ve done.

I’m on ATT’s prepaid plan so I’m not sure if the portal set up is different but I logged into my online account, clicked on “My Device” and then clicked Update Device and typed in my IMEI under “New Device IMEI” there was also an option under it to input a new sim card number but I already did that earlier today.

Yeah...not worth it right now..

Currently paying $360/month for 6 numbers on the current 4G LTE unlimited plan with everything.

Only thing I get additional on the same plan for everyone on the Elite 5G is more hotspot data...but $55 more a month.

It would be $10 cheaper a month if I did auto pay, but I don't do that now. But you have some good points about other discounts I could look at.

Oh...and I'm still getting a corporate discount from a company I haven't worked for in 5 years and would lose that under that under the 5G plan. I'll get my phone first when it comes out in a few weeks and really dig into it.

Paying way too much as it is.

Do you have esim or prepaid? I have regular SIM, Omni option to update IMEI online - you’d think when you activate the new phone with new SIM, that the new IMEI would be activated automatically - still no 5G option today - iPhone 12 pro, NYC location, ELITE plan - any ideas ?

Did you try the refresh connection and turn phone off / back on method? When you do it, leave the phone off for like 3 minutes. Mine gave me the option the first time I did it. e-sim and elite plan. I hit the refresh button, waited like 2 minutes, then turned my 12pro off, waited 3 minutes, turned it back on and it started working.

I did that several times yes thanks, also I don’t have ESIM I have a normal SIM that came with the new phone
