All you have to do is go to www.att.com. Hopefully you have a login user and password. Then from main page, there is a link to "Check Order Status". Select Wireless Device (looks like a blackberry). Enter the mobile number and select check by "wireless number". Then enter zip code of where it is shipped to. Then enter message and hit "SUBMIT" Hope that helps you out.

If you order in store, online tracking and order info may not appear until the store gets an email update on the order,
 
Me too. I have probably been checking status an average of 3 times a day, even though I know it's stupid. You ordered from the AT&T online store? Regular or Premier account?

Went to the AT&T store to switch over from t-mobile(it's about time!) and ordered 2 iPhones. Wish I ordered the 32gb just so I could get it earlier
 
Orders Placed on 7/12

I placed an order for the 16GB Iphone 4 at an ATT store in Denver, CO on Monday, 7/12. According to the ATT website the phone is still on backorder. I'll post when my order comes off backorder so all you other 7/12-ers out there have a heads up. According to the trends I'm seeing it should come off of backorder today or tomorrow...

How are you seeing an order placed in ATT store? They told me I wouldn't see it till I got an email.

(1) Go to ATT.com
(2) Click on log in (top right hand corner)
(3) Under "wireless" click on "Check Order Status"
(4) Search Method: Wireless number
(5) Search number: Enter your wirless number
(6) Billing or shipping zip code: Enter the zip code of the store and NOT your residence
(7) Enter passphrase and hit submit.

im a 7/13 order... so hopefully something changes for me today as well if not im going to start raising a fuss because this is just a bit outrageous that some ppl who have ordered after even the 7/12 have come off backorder and some gotten there phones this is ridiculous

We ordered three iPhone 4 Blk 32GB at an AT&T store in NJ on Monday evening 7/12. They shipped FedEx from Texas on Sunday and we picked them up at the store yesterday. They ported our numbers and activated them at the store.
 
7/10 ordered 2 16gb Iphone 4

:apple:Well Good news in, at least for me. My 7/10 order was released from Backorder this morning and I received shipping information for both by 4pm today. Interesting thing is one of the iphones is coming from Ft Worth and the other is coming from Memphis TN. EIther way I don't care, I am just glad to be getting my phone by Friday. :)

first off guy, i can read, college educated here... only reason i said what i did is because 2 of my friends ordered the same day and time as i did both got 16GB one is already off backorder and the other got his phone today and im still on backorder, before you get rude

They're not necessarily going in order, maybe call att and explan the situation to them, they might be able to give you a better answer than any of us.

Yep, I ordered my first iP4 on the 29th and got it before some people who pre-ordered first day.
 
Unofficial responses from an att premier rep below. I don't want to get any angry calls referencing this, we are busy enough as it is. Who knows? Maybe someone will read this and decide NOT to call. All the stuff below only applies to att premier. If you don't know what it is, you don't need to.

Yes, we have seen where new orders have shipped before some preorders. We were pretty pissed off too, but we can't do jack about it.

No, we can't see where your iphone is in the queue, cry about it.

A few select agents have figured out how to find iphone 4 stocks, and those few are keeping it quiet for obvious reasons. Just FYI, premier's main warehouse, ZDIR, is in a backorder of 24,600 for the iphone 4 16gb black last time I checked. The secondary is also on backorder, not as much though. Nobody will admit that, even if they are one of the few who figured out how. (The normal inventory system will show a blank screen, seriously.)

No, our supervisors / managers can't either.

If we say we can't cancel your order, it's because it's prepaid drop. And we can't. We literally get an error saying it was dropped for shipping. That usually means it will ship soon, except in some rare cases.

If your phone is lost or stolen, the only thing we can do is wait for escalations. We might feel sorry for you, until you bitch at us that we can't do anything else, and it's losing you money, because the week long ship time didn't, and then there's a good strong '**** you' vibe going on behind the scenes. And as said, supervisors can't do much here either. Sorry.

Yes, iphone prices are hardcoded. So if it's defective, we really do have to charge full retail price and do that escalation stuff.

Yes, we know escalations take forever. We are TOLD to say 3 days. Cry about it (not to us).

No, we can't reverse your upgrade or cancel your order or whatever if there's a lost or stolen escalation in. No, you can't just say cancel it if it's lost or stolen. Well, you can, but we'll say you can't. Which is true.

I think there's a few other touching points I can say, but meh. I think this outta be enough.

OH, I almost forgot.

Yes, we know how long you waited. Yes, I'm sure it's ridiculous. We don't need to hear your sob story about how it's wasting your valuable time. Your sob story is wasting everyone else's time, and we can't take calls any faster because you can only call during lunch break. So let's not hear it.

And if you waited all that time for order status on your iphone 4 when the automated system says first thing that it will take 7-14 days to ship, we are going to hate you a bit for wasting everyone's time.

God, all that felt nice to get off my chest.
