Unofficial responses from an att premier rep below. I don't want to get any angry calls referencing this, we are busy enough as it is. Who knows? Maybe someone will read this and decide NOT to call. All the stuff below only applies to att premier. If you don't know what it is, you don't need to.

Yes, we have seen where new orders have shipped before some preorders. We were pretty pissed off too, but we can't do jack about it.

No, we can't see where your iphone is in the queue, cry about it.

A few select agents have figured out how to find iphone 4 stocks, and those few are keeping it quiet for obvious reasons. Just FYI, premier's main warehouse, ZDIR, is in a backorder of 24,600 for the iphone 4 16gb black last time I checked. The secondary is also on backorder, not as much though. Nobody will admit that, even if they are one of the few who figured out how. (The normal inventory system will show a blank screen, seriously.)

No we can't change what warehouse ships it.

No, our supervisors / managers can't either.

If we say we can't cancel your order, it's because it's prepaid drop. And we can't. We literally get an error saying it was dropped for shipping. That usually means it will ship soon, except in some rare cases.

No, a manager can't cancel it either.

If your phone is lost or stolen, the only thing we can do is wait for escalations. We might feel sorry for you, until you bitch at us that we can't do anything else, and it's losing you money, because the week long ship time didn't, and then there's a good strong '**** you' vibe going on behind the scenes. And as said, supervisors can't do much here either. Sorry.

Yes, iphone prices are hardcoded. So if it's defective, we really do have to charge full retail price and do that escalation stuff.

Yes, we know escalations take forever. We are TOLD to say 3 days. Cry about it (not to us).

No, we can't reverse your upgrade or cancel your order or whatever if there's a lost or stolen escalation in. No, you can't just say cancel it if it's lost or stolen. Well, you can, but we'll say you can't. Which is true.

I think there's a few other touching points I can say, but meh. I think this outta be enough.

OH, I almost forgot.

Yes, we know how long you waited. Yes, I'm sure it's ridiculous. We don't need to hear your sob story about how it's wasting your valuable time. Your sob story is wasting everyone else's time, and we can't take calls any faster because you can only call during lunch break. So let's not hear it.

And if you waited all that time for order status on your iphone 4 when the automated system says first thing that it will take 7-14 days to ship, we are going to hate you a bit for wasting everyone's time.

God, all that felt nice to get off my chest.

Ok.. So where's my phone? :D

Shamefully, I cancelled my cell service after getting the terms email thinking, it wouldn't really take this long to get my phone. :( But according to the posts on here, I think, it will be coming off backorder at least by Friday, but like most of you, I'm sooooooo impatient about it! :apple:
 
Well today is a critical day for my phone.
Ordered Upgrade 16GB on 7/12 @ 11am from an ATT store in Northern Maryland.
If it doesn't come off BO today, then I won't see if for over 10 days.
I leave for vacation on Saturday morning.
So I need it to come off BO today. Ship tomorrow. Arrive at store on Friday.
But since I am on this schedule, it won't happen :(

As of 730am ET my phone is off backorder. So now the question is, can they ship it out today and arrive tomorrow???? Come on ATT and FedEx!!!:eek:

Don't want to get your hopes up, but from what I've seen, it seems to ship quickly and arrives the next day... hopefully you get your phone in time!

Mine was ordered the same day, in Northern VA. I'm still on backorder... Something has to happen today!
 
7/12 Order for 16G (Premier Customer) came off back order early this morning and just received shipping confirmation - FedEx overnight - they barely beat the weekend!

Hopefully others will start seeing theirs soon too, looks like the 10 day wait it about average...
 
iPhone 4 order through Apple via phone

Rather than start a new post I was hoping someone here could help me. I ordered my phone through apple via phone on the 11th and received a confirmation from them that day, but am wondering if anyone has any info on ordering through Apple. I searched the forums with no luck, but if someone could redirect me that would be great as well. Thank you, Zach.

Somebody told me that if your phone ships out on friday that they will deliver it on saturday or sunday, is this true... please say yes im a 7/13er so im stil lost still on backorder and have passed being angry... HELP please cause I still am seeing no end in sight in all this
 
Finally!

Ordered 7/12 at about 3:30PM in an AT&T Store, NOT Premier. Just came off backorder around 11:30AM today. Looks like the 7/12ers might get their phones by the weekend! Still waiting on shipping info though, I'll let you all know what the delivery date is when it becomes available.
 
Ordered 32GB (new ATT account) monday evening 7/19. Off backorder already! hopefully ships soon. that was fast.
 
I ordered two 32GBs via AT&T retail store on 7/17; they both came off backorder today. I have UPS tracking numbers (one is 2nd-day, the other doesn't show yet) but no delivery date yet.
 
wooo! as of late last night my order came off of backorder and this morning it has shipped! i hope it comes tomorrow! i ordered 7/10 in store
 
FedEx or UPS?

I thought these were all coming via FedEx, but I guess I was wrong since I received my tracking info this morning for a UPS 2nd Day Air shipment. Now it it ships today, does that mean I will get it tomorrow or Saturday with 2nd Day Air?

I had the same thing happen when I ordered. I called the premier support line (obv call regular customer service if you did not order through premier) and they told me that nothing was wrong with my order. Sure enough 24 hours later the status was back to "processing" or something like that. You can always call AT&T to make sure that they have all of your information correct though just in case.

Yeah they just told me the same thing...after a 25 minute hold time.
 
ordered a black 16 gb, in store on july 12, just came off backorder this morning...waiting shipping information...live in southern pa...hope it comes soon...
