I got my conformation email at 3:38 am CST on Friday morning. Then Friday night 8:29pm I got an email saying i needed to call and verify my ID. I called and they said i need to go into a store so I went in on SAT and gave them ID. Then at 8:55PM CST on Sat I got another email saying I need to verify my ID. I called and answered questions and then I received another conformation at 11:22pm CST. My order page says 10/8 order date and it is backordered.
Yes it gives me this every time.

Yes, I have posted several times about it, and one guy just said he got a tracking number. I still show backordered, and since they didn't send me the TC email until Monday night, my order date says 10/10 instead of 10/7. Probably SOL until early to mid Nov.

I received a FedEx tracking number for my premium account 64GB Black 4S via an AT&T chat yesterday. All 3 status pages say backordered with no shipping info. FedEx tracking # is not active.

I am not overly worried. I am one of the few that am ok with getting it next week but I am not ok past an additional week of waiting
Call UPS and ask to speak to a rep. They will check their shipping manifest system and see the shipping information on your package based on the info ATT generated on their manifest system. They can tell you where the package is going, the service selected (red label next day, 2 day, ground etc). My order is scheduled for delivery tomorrow with UPS Red Label / Next Day Air delivery by 10:30am.
Now, if ATT doesn't give UPS the package tonight, this can all change.
10/8 Order with UPS Tracking Number
Ordered (1) black 32GB 4S. Shipping to Florida, to address other than billing address, used debit card.
ETA: Small business Premier account with one line, eligible for upgrade in 20 months
- Called 611 to place order Saturday, 10/8, at ~2:30 am ET
- Received and accepted T&C email at 2:40 am ET
- Received AT&T Post Call Notification email at 2:45 am ET
- Received AT&T order status email at 8:55 am ET (shipping 14-21 days)
- Backorder status changed from '1' to '0' on 10/12 around 7:00 am ET
- Checked order status 10/12 at 5:20 pm ET and now have Carrier "IPHONE-UPS" with tracking number
- Qty Shipped = '0'

I ordered my 32FB white 4S about the same time also by phone. I used a credit card not a debit card. Still NO status at all for me (NY).

That's normal. Most banks clear authorizations after a certain number of hours.

I checked the ATT Website -- It says In Progress. Ordered on 10/8. QTY Ordered 1, QTY Shipped 0, QTY Backordered 0. Carrier is IPHONE-UPS and it gives a shipping number, that when I check with UPS, it cannot find.
What does this mean?? This is killing me.

Been running it on my 3GS for about a week now. Running a little snappier than it was on 4.X.X.
No problems, iTunes WiFi sync and iCloud works w/o issues.
The best part is the notifications screen. Sweet indeed.

Apparently my first Fedex CSR wasn't too swift when she said it wasn't even a proper fedex number. The second one informed me that the number of packages was so great they more or less jumped the normal progression of numbers and went to a whole new block.
Try reading up a bit before posting a question asked and answered dozens of times.
Nope. This is a normal banking process. It's like how the gas station authorizes $1 to pump gas, but then charge more later. The actual charge from AT&T is just coming much later...so the original Auth is falling off. This is absolutely normal.
i ordered mine at like 2pm on friday. a white 16gb 4s. I have a tracking order, which isnt working on UPS site. It says it has been shipped. I havent had a hold or a charge to the credit card. It should be here soon
