So I pre-ordered Friday AM from the store and the order is sitting in back-ordered status. I spend an hour on with Premier & the store... 3 managers told me the same thing... and it's not good news.

1.) Pre-Orders are "low priority" - orders will be fulfilled for first 200K customers that made the cutoff friday 10/7, after that you are considered in the 3rd wave anywhere from 14-32 days.
2.) Based on iPhone4 last year, the priority is for in-store stock so the majority of iPhones are being made available in-store rather than pre-order, that's why so little stock is allocated to pre-orders.

The in-store rep then said that if you show up at the store to get a phone and you pre-order they won't let you have it, We would have to have canceled the pre-order first and had the upgrade flag removed from the account prior to 10/14 or they will turn you away.

So a big F-U from AT&T on this... pre-orders are given low priority? that's strait from 3 managers. :mad:

That makes no sense. How is it cheaper for them to have their stores choke on the 14th when they can have 200k paid preorders in their system?
 
32Gb white 4S pre ordered on 10/7 in the afternoon sadly, but my status has said "In Progress & Pending Shipment" since the day that I first checked on my order which was around Sunday I think. My order number is pretty low, which I think means that there aren't many people in front of me in line for that particular AT&T store that I went in and pre ordered from.. hoping for the best, which is ship out today or tomorrow and receive on Friday.

BTW, NOBODY ELSE's pre order e mail said "Your iPhone will ship in approximately 14-21 days"? Everyone seems to have been told that they'll get it by the 14th.. I was even told by the associates in the store that I wouldn't be getting it for 14-21 days. :(


I ordered a 32GB 4s as well on Friday evening and I got my shipment notification today - I also got an email from them confirming my order right after placing it that said it would ship in 14-21 days.
I think they're just batching orders by phone type and location or att account number to get them done. would make sense.
 
Waaahh! My flipping credit card placed a fraud alert on my order and denied the charge. I didn't find out till Monday 10/10 and lost my place in line. I even placed the order at 12:45 am PST Friday morning on the AT&T website for 1 black 16 GB and 1 white 64GB. I'm now backordered until god knows when. I'm so sad! :( :( :(
 
I loathe AT&T. They're all a bunch of nimrods. A Debacle (that's right, capital D) since day one. Y'know, last Friday.

The end.

Because we are captive audience due to pre order lock in. Meanwhile stores can use the "in stock" mantra to garner new customers or re up people who are thinking of switching. I can so see a corporation like ATT doing it.

Has anyone checked their AT&T/UPS tracking numbers and received tracking info yet?

I forgot about the upgrade fee for my 4S, and called AT&T about my Oct 26th bill being high, and they gave me a $45.00 credit on my account. I feel so bad about the whole thing...NOT! :p
 
I ordered 3 phones within minutes from each other around 5:03-5:08am on 10/7/11. The black 32G ip4s says shipped with a ups tracking number that doesnt work; payment cleared my bank account. The white 16G ip4s says shipped with a fedex tracking number that doesn't work; payment dropped off my bank account. The white 32G ip4s says "backordered", payment cleared my bank account.
There doesn't seem to really be any consistency with AT&T premier. I'm excited about getting my phones but not stressing either! lol
I got all three of my otterboxes delivered and ready though!:cool:

Agree but you should see how execs from companies like ATT sit around and discuss things like this. You will be surprised. Not much different than generals in war talking about potential troop loss and such. Just the way it is. What is the best way to maximize rev and margin.
 
Well the premier site says 10/7, my email says 10/7, they say 10/10. buh-buh-bullsh#$!!! Here we go again. Let's see if I can break my 7 hour record that was set Monday.

My premier site says 10/7m my email says 10/7, and the main ATT order site says 10/11. Because there was a problem with their automatic payment processing, and they had to contact us to get it fixed. The CSR we spoke to there who was processing payments by hand said the order priority was still fine, and I should still receive it on 10/14.

The CSR we spoke to at the general Premier line before this was as clueless as sin, and insisted we didn't even have an order. I'll take the word over the later CSR, since clearly the former didn't know what they were talking about.
 
Nope. This is a normal banking process. It's like how the gas station authorizes $1 to pump gas, but then charge more later. The actual charge from AT&T is just coming much later...so the original Auth is falling off. This is absolutely normal.

Thanks for the info. Same thing happened with me, checked my online account this morning and the hold was disappeared.
It's funny, you usually freak ou when you get charged extra, but this one freaked me out because I wasn't charged at all. :D
PS: My order status is Shipped via Fedex with a shipped date of 10/09.

It's a good idea to call your CC company before you make a fairly large purchase like a couple of new iPhones. I also got a fraud notification on my Saks CC, but I heard about it right away and was able to resolve it by Friday afternoon to avoid any holdups.

No Phone for Friday from ATT Unless...

If anybody ordered a phone from AT&T you are not getting it Friday UNLESS they ship them overnight which I highly doubt they did. I just talked to FedEx. My phone went into "pending shipment" status late last night. The tracking number does not resolve on their site. He said they are sitting in Texas and will not be shipped until tomorrow. The absolute earliest if they send it overnight will be Friday but he said most likely the 17th. I suppose if you're near Texas then maybe you'll have a better chance of getting it Friday.
I ordered the phone through AT&T as soon as their site opened up which was around maybe 4 AM Eastern time the day the went on sale.

Every phone for every at&t iphone release has been shipped overnight, afaik.

Please, stop harassing these cs reps.

WRONG. They ship overnight all the time (and again last year for the iPhone 4).
 
Hi -

I ordered a white 16GB phone on the 7th, over the phone. The call was completed at 4:45PM EST. I immediately received the T&C email and accepted. I received the order confirmation on the 8th, with a notice that my order would be shipped in 14-21 days.

Showed as back ordered until yesterday.
This morning it has a tracking ID (FEDEX), with a ship date of 10/11. Tracking ID is not available on fedex site yet, but I'm not concerned about this.

I live on the east coast.
