3G Unlimited Data Plan

So, in the midst of all the 4S enthusiasm, I pre-ordered the phone online through AT&T. I had been using 3G and couldn't wait to upgrade.

Now I am told that all AT&T customers who were still on the unlimited data plan could be 'grandfathered' into the same unlimited data plan had they gone to the AT&T store and pre-ordered the phone in person!

Is this true? Have any of you experienced the difference in data plans being offered by AT&T online vis-a-vis their stores? If so, what can I do about it? I had a perfectly great unlimited data plan on my previous 3G!! Did I just sign myself up for a paid LIMITED data plan?!

You did have the opportunity to select the new Unlimited grandfathered plan for iPhone 4S when you preordered with AT&T.

i was grandfathered in. IT SAID IT ONLINE?!?! IT was in like bold.

I really hope mine doesn't come tomorrow because no one will be around the house to sign for it. Would FEdex leave it without a signature? I'm not sure if I'd want them to anyway, but would they?

FedEx Must attempt to deliver at your address.
option1: leave not at door with your tracking number and your signature. Then they will leave at your door. Or you could ask to leave at back or side door. "this could lead to stolen package..if you have nice neighbors then they can sign.

Option2;Call 1800 GoFedEx and reserve a pick up/hold at Fedex Location. But you can only do this when they have attempted to deliver.

I'm pretty sure that if you still currently have the unlimited plan active right now you can go to an AT&T store and they will transfer the 4S over to that plan

I ordered mine through the website, and got my unlimited data grandfathered. I doubt the unlimited data will last much longer anyway. Things that are grandfathered only tend to last a few years before the companies realize that there is money to be made there.
 
i cant believe my order is still backordered after preordering in store on the 7th before 5:30 pm EST

Ordered a 64GB Black in a brick-and-mortar AT&T store at 4:30PM Central on the 7th. I had it shipped to me, however.

The AT&T rep told me that he "had" to tell me 14-21 days but that it should be here on the 14th.

Currently still on back order online.

Now the horror story for all those deadline orderers:

Called 611 just now and was told that since I ordered after 4pm Eastern time I am in the "second wave" of shipments which will not begin shipping for "at least 21 days".

Called the store in which I placed my order, hoping they could provide better news, but instead it got worse. The store rep I talked said "It will be at least 4 to 5 weeks before you get your phone". Even after pointing out that at the time of order I was quoted 14-21 days from last Friday, she maintained that 4 weeks was the "EARLIEST" I'd see my phone.

Those 90 minutes royaly ********* me.

How about this, On Monday i went to at&t's website and try to see if you order at that point, when it will be ship? Before you check out, there's a line on the bottom saying that your order will ship in 21-28 days. So order it on Friday would definitley be early right? feel better buddy, we're on the same boat. or isn't?

I ordered online and the confirmation email shows:

Data Plan for iPhone $30.00

So no changes :)
 
That's it, can't read anymore about tracking numbers. Will come back for the activation drama on Friday!

I was quoted "14-21" days when I purchased, and even that was explained to me as a formality. And yet here I am being quoted 4 to 5 weeks. As the new reps maintained, they reserve the right to change the shipment time frame for any reason. It's all about the fine print & asterisks. The devil is in the details, as they say.
 
I ordered my White 32GB iPhone 4S at 7:30PM on Friday. As of today, my status indicates that it has been shipped via UPS and I have received a tracking number. The tracking number doesn't work yet, I will give it some time :) So, for anyone that ordered their phone "a little late" don't freak out, you'll get the thing soon enough. At this point I think it is entirely possible that it might arrive on time. :cool:

I might not be home when it gets delivered.

So, what exactly do I need to do to make sure they will leave it on my door step?

I read, leave a note with tracking number and signature. Is that all?

That's what I'm doing, and if they still don't leave it, I'll take off for the shipping facility as soon as I get home from work.
 
As far as I can tell, nearly everyone who ordered online has their shipping numbers and everyone who ordered on phone or at store doesn't?

I ordered online at 1am and am still backordered...
 
I ordered my first iPhone ever, and it is a preorder. I have always had the original Samsung Solstice, so this is a considerable upgrade for me. :rolleyes:

Anyways, I ordered the White iPhone 4S 32GB on Friday the 7th, at 3:45am CST. I was worried about my shipment all week, probably too much, lol. Today I finally got an update stating "shipped" and I have a tracking number. My carrier is obviously AT&T, but I do not have a premiere account. Originally, there was a pending charge on my account, but now it is gone. There are not any emails saying anything is going wrong, so I figure they will pull the money as soon as it actually ships or I recieve it, hopefully.

As you can see, the information is not available on the UPS side, yet. Hopefully that changes soon!

Has anyone's charge hit their card? I understand from reading here, it should show the charge once shipped. The website says it shipped yesterday, yet no charge. I guess "shipped" isn't really accurate? I guess this ties into what i read on here about overnight shipping and it will hit my card tomorrow. I still think it's odd it says "shipped" and you have a tracking number, and no charge.

As others have said, wonder why it's shipping UPS. I thought FedEx was standard unless you work for UPS?

All this stress and I probably won't get it Friday because I have to work. Here's hoping I can pick it up from UPS either Fri night or Sat am.
 
A few people earlier were talking about the strange fedex tracking #'s that started with 5, then some revealed more: 502, now a couple posts back I saw someone's number that was 5023xxxxxxxx
mine is 502321xxxxxx
I thought I saw someone else say they called fedex and they said that their number was part of a bulk order and that we'd get new numbers later this afternoon. I was just checking to see if anyone else's number followed this same pattern... to confirm fedex's story....
(I just want to stop hoping the fedex site will update, and get a REAL tracking #)

The first and only tracking number I got is 502381-------
 
it really isnt the end of the world, but i sure as hell do not want to wait 4 more weeks. heres to hoping i will get a mysterious package with a mysterious 32gb white device inside on the 14th
