I got multiple emails as well. I got 1 confirmation of order, 2 "processing" emails on 10/7, and then another "processing" email on the 8th.

I am a fairly low key guy. I wont get bent if the phones are late. But DANG... I have never been this amped up for a product launch, and I dont know why!
 
Well it seems Sprint has done a great job handling tracking and order status and they are the underdog who is inexperienced in the pre-order area versus ATT and Verizon who have already done this several times now.

I think its reasonable to expect a little more status update than a pending shipment and being told by customer reps that they have no idea when I will get it, could be several days from friday.

Seems how? Sorry, I don't have Sprint so I don't spend time in that thread.

Oh, and how many did they sell?
 
I can't believe they actually ship directly from the factory instead of shipping them in big containers over to deliver from a central distribution point in each continent. Perhaps it keeps them from guessing stock needs in each country?

FedEx and UPS ship those large containers. They track your shipment as part of that large pallet and break it out and package it when it gets here.

I ordered around 8am CST Friday morning. My status has looked like this since then. I'm hoping the "backordered" status will be removed soon. My credit card has been charged.

My backordered status was removed today.

I think the backordered status could have something to do with the capacity you ordered.

I ordered a White 32GB and i'm no longer backordered. I noticed three people saying they're still backordered ordered 64GB phones.

Somebody prove the theory wrong.

I ordered a black 64GB and it is no longer showing as backordered.

The weird thing that I saw was that the first email I received from AT&T on Friday said
Thank you for your recent order. Your iPhone will ship in approximately 14 to 21 days

but it is now showing as not backordered so I'm hopeful that it will arrive on Friday.

Its probably because > 1,000,000 people are checking the online status every 5 minutes ... that will take any system down :eek: ... just keep reloading the page until it works (and make everybody else get an error)
 
Pending Shipment!!

Woot! Can't wait for some tracking numbers! I'm hoping it'll
be FedEx, which is 100 times more reliable and consistent than
UPS...
 
I placed my order via Premier online. There are separate order numbers in Premier and on the regular site. When I check my order with Premier it says it was placed on 7th, that its been processed and is awaiting shipment. When I check with regular At&t, they say the order was placed on the 8th and I'll get it in 21-28 days.

Anyone else getting this run around. Of course Premier phone support is overwhelmed and can't talk to anyone there.

That can be the problem i have another account and i put that info in the order status and its comes up just fine but its in backorder now.

so you don't get confuse the one that not coming up is my aunt account on my account it comes up we order about the same time.

Seems like I'm at the same spot as everyone else who preordered from AT&T.

Also, is anyone else getting their confirmation email sent to them multiple times? I've gotten FOUR completely identical confirmation emails from AT&T.

First: October 7th - 2:10PM
Second: October 7th - 2:43 PM
Third: October 8th - 9:20AM
Fourth: October 10th - 9:12AM

All saying completely the same thing with all the same info (phone number & order number..)

Anyone else?

Placed order when AT&T site was opened for pre-orders.

Completed order in approx 10 minutes, then received confirmation email.
Next day received email from AT&T with FedEx tracking number and approx ship date.

Following day received email from AT&T with est date of arrival. (Fri 14th)
Yesterday received email with confirmation of delivery date, 14th before 10am

Tracked it via FedEx this morning and we are on schedule.

If this goes like last year it will be here early on Thursday, as I got my iPhone 4 the day before the official release date for the Apple Stores.

What model did you order? This may come down to the model selection as to when they are shipping out. Im just surprised you got a tracking that fast, nobody on here has a tracking yet! Lucky you ;)
 
If I log in and check through this:

I get "In Progress", and "Pending Shipment" as the tracking number.

If I log in through the main at&t website front door, go to "My Orders", and check that way..
I get the same thing.

This is a change from about four hours ago when it said just "processing".

NOTE: Ordered from AT&T directly around 10 or 11AM on Friday.

NOTE 2: I noticed that the AT&T site is noticeably slower than it has been in the last 48 hours or so. I wonder if too many people are doing this same thing. :)

I called AT&T and she was no help at all.

I wouldn't expect them to be. All they're gonna do is look at more or less the same info we are looking at in this thread. At this stage of the game, there's nothing a customer service grunt can tell you that you can't find out yourself.

I don't know but am I the only one who feels that ATT has really fallen off their game. I would have expected this level of customer service from a prepaid company but not from ATT.

Basically, everyone who has pre-ordered from ATT has gotten a big middle finger and a response of "You'll get it when you get it".

How do you figure that? Because their system doesn't update about a million pre-orders with absolute up to the second info? The only conceivable way you can say what you said is if you don't get it on Friday *AND* you have an email promising Friday delivery. Short of that, you're just doing random foaming from the mouth on an internet forum. I want my phone as fast as anyone else, but I have a realistic perpsective. So many people sit there and think that companies and the Internet do nothing but sit there and think of ways to PERSONALLY screw them.

I hear conflicting information about this ... I also hear that Apple orders are already shipping but will be on hold at the UPS/FEDEX facilities until friday morning ....

That wouldn't be the first time that happened. If you remember when iPhone 4 first shipped, Fedex was instructed to hold orders so they actually were delivered on the day of release, and not show up early.

Rep confirmed delivery on the 14th

After noticing AT&T had completely messed up my rate plan. I started an online chat with customer service. They did fix the plan. But when I asked about delivery of my iPhone 4s he said I would in fact receive the phone on the 14th. Anyone who ordered the phone in the first round would get it on the 14th. He said the first round of orders sold out Friday night.
Here is the quoted text from the chat:
AT&T: You get it on the 14th.
AT&T.: You preordered in the first batch.
AT&T: You will receive it that day.
ME: sweet are they sold out now?
AT&T.: The first batch sold out Friday night.
AT&T: Now they have a wait.
AT&T: Because of high demand, the ship date for your pre-order device is expected to be: iPhone 4S – 21 to 28 days iPhone 4 8GB – 10 to 14 days To get an iPhone 4S as soon as October 14, AT&T retail stores will have inventory available for eligible customers while supplies last.
AT&T: But for the First set of orders you are good!
AT&T: You will have it on the 14th.
AT&T: for the other people they have a nice wait.

I keep hearing about these confirmation email from last Friday. I never got a single email from AT&T regarding my pre-order. Can anyone shed some light as to what was in that email?
 
What I think is funny is that people who ordered the 64GB (like me) seem to be having "backordered" issues, but most of the orders I have seen posted here are for 16GB or 32GB phones. I would think that with the 64GB unit being in such lower demand, we would be getting our phones first.

Then again, maybe all the storage whores have never heard of Mac Rumors. :cool:

That's not what he did. He said he ordered on the AT&T site and got an email from AT&T with a tracking number.

All the threads about people getting tracking numbers have been ordered through the Apple site.
