I noticed they changed my order date from October 8th, to October 7th. So that is some progress.

I'm in progress and pending shipment. Also, the hold on my account has cleared.

Shipping Thursday

ATT's order status page says this:
Pre-ordered devices will ship on or around Thursday, Oct. 13, 2011.

I ordered 2 16GB White AT&T 4S's via the apple store website at about 6:30A and 7A CDT respectively. This morning, I got the shipment notice from Apple for the first order - showing it has shipped with UPS, and is scheduled to arrive 10/14. The second order still has not shipped, but has "Preparing for Shipment" as the order status in the apple online store order status page. I tried the UPS reference number trick, but no results for that phone number.

So let me get this right - everyone who ordered DIRECTLY THROUGH AT&T has not received a shipment notification correct?

Pending shipment doesn't mean much in terms of when the device ships. I means you will receive a tracking number "Pending Shipment" of the iPhone.

I have my 32GB White 4S on backorder, In progress and I will get my tracking number "pending shipment" of my phone.

Anyone else get a confirmation email that came hours after pre-ordering.

I ordered at 830am and didn't get the conf email until 320PM
I got the approve conditions email around 832Am

Not sure if the cut off is when you ordered or when the conf email came out and also not sure why it took almost 7 hours to get the confirmation email.

Does your order show a "1" under the backordered column on this site?

No. It does not.

Seems that way. Based on the status I've been seeing today, things are moving. Mine just hasn't "shipped" shipped yet. It'll come. They have three more days to actually ship it to get it here on the 14th. I'm not worried about it.

Definitive answer on iPhone 4S Shipping times from ATT.com.

I just spent the last half hour on the phone with Premier, then the escalations department. They found a manager in the fulfillment department who gave me the following information. He says it's from a memo that was just released in the last hour.

If your order was placed:
Before 4PM EST on Oct 7, Delivery starting on Oct 14
Between 4pm EST Oct 7 to 12AM EST Oct 8th, Delivery in 14-21 days
After 12am EST on Oct 8th, Delivery in 21-28 days
This is great news if true. I'd be well under the 4PM mark.

Ratz! Mine are all still showing a 1 in Backordered. And I ordered four phones (2 iPhones and 2 dumb phones). That makes me think its a website status update issue....

I'm hoping it's just a website issue. I definitely ordered before the rumored 4pm cutoff but still have 1 in the backordered column.

Yes... As far as we know.

So let me get this right - everyone who ordered DIRECTLY THROUGH AT&T has not received a shipment notification correct?

I haven't seen a single post yet with someone who ordered through AT&T directly and received a shipping number. People who went thru the Apple store have begun to get them. att.com users have not yet. At least I know I haven't. If you ordered early Friday morning, I'm sure it will arrive on the 14th. :D

Did you order through Premier? I was told there was no "approve conditions" email.

That 4pm cutoff sounds like an attempt at damage control. I guess someone figured they could easily meet the orders put before that time with the stock they are expecting, but there are other issues affecting individual orders (like credit checks) that makes that an iffy place to hang your hat on.

Ain't speculating great?
