To those with tracking numbers: Is your cell number (or order number, or anything recognizable) listed as one of the associated reference numbers?
Nope.

I didn't say it was true, I just said that's what was relayed to me
I knew many other people had received tracking info for in-store pre-orders so I chalked it up as another clueless CSR lol
The summary of this entire thread is: It doesn't matter when, where, or what you ordered from AT&T...you were not 100% guaranteed of getting your phone tomorrow. It seems like AT&T just drew pre-orders out of a hat lol
They will not hold it for pickup even after the first attempt. They will ONLY deliver it to the address with a live signature. Pickups will not be honored on AT&T phone shipping via UPS.
Nice! been checking my status from Fort Worth but didn't see an update.![]()
I saw that it departed too! It'll be in Ontario CA soon!
UPS just told me AT&T is not letting people put the packages on hold. Rather, I will have to wait until the first delivery attempt to do so. Looks like I won't be getting my 4S until Sunday unless they come before 10:30, which won't happen I am sure.
Anyone else passing the time by flirting with Charlie, the virtual expert? I wonder if anyone reads those chat logs.![]()

I just think that it's funny when people say "I will never order from AT&T again!!! I hate them!" because I believe AT&T is doing the best they can as far as getting out orders. Their communications with CSR's could be better but as far as pumping out orders they are doing a good job. It is nearly impossible to make hundreds of thousands of people happy.

Same here, we opend up our account on the 6th and ATT has been great. They set me up with a nice loner phone and have everything set for my iphone to arrive tomorrow morning. Mine shipped via Fedex Tuesday night but was held at the local distributing center until tomorrow for delivery, could have got it today if they didnt hold it.

Sunday? None of the UPS hubs are open to customers around here on Saturdays or Sundays. UPS also told me that under no circumstances would a UPS center give out a package, that is had to deliver to the house. I was told by two separate UPS supervisors on the phone. I was pressing hard since no one will EVER be at my house during a normal working day.
My suspicion is that you are at the discretion of the store policy and manager. If they decide to release some of their allotment to pre-order people they can. I am pretty sure the store in Westfield NJ where I went is keeping all their allotment for walk in sales. Which is why I'm screwed. They were very explicit that it would be 2 to 3 weeks when I ordered. Now I realize why. Let's start naming the stores we went to. Perhaps we can see a pattern develop if there were enough people on here??

Wow! Nice to know the system worked for someone! The only reason I even ordered through ATT is because I get a discount with them through work and wanted to get all of those benefits. Otherwise I would have just ordered through Apple like I wanted to. Not the end of the world, just frustrating.
They only had 200k phones to handle. Apple is handling at least 5x that volume (probably more) with little problem and with informative and knowledgeable CSRs, as usual.
UPS amigo
PM me your addy, and I will come over and wait for your delivery![]()
Mine says, and I copy-paste-quote:
"Your iPhone has been reserved and is expected to be delivered on Oct 14, 2011. "
THE DEVIL IS IN THE DETAILS! does this mean something?
