I had a package delivery attempt today, but missed it because I was at work. The notice stated the package was being held because "A. [My] written authorization is required to leave package(s)." The reason written authorization is required is that a few packages were delivered in the past, but someone stole them and now I have to be present or pick up at the service center. No UPS packages will be left at my door.
I went online to make alternate arrangements for the Amazon package. When my local service center called, I provided my iPhone tracking number and asked what will happen when delivery is attempted and I am at work. The lady looked up my tracking number and address and said, "You will have to come to the service center or meet the driver at the UPS Store just like you are today."
The extreme exception to the rule. I am sure the vast amount of people here have not filed a missing package claim or are in the situation you are in. However if you know the driver personally or know someone in the center, you are probably fine.
