I don't believe they try delivering ANY day. My UPS guy's idea of trying to deliver is knocking as softly as possible and then running back to the truck as fast as he can. I swear to God, if I'm not sitting there by the front window watching for the truck, I might as well not be home.

You're right especially if they are busy and its a Friday and they want to get home for the weekend.

I orderd mine from the ATT store at 9am on the 7th and just got my tracking number an hour ago. UPS doesnt have it but even if I dont get it tomorrow thats better then the 4 weeks the store told me.

I had called ATT and they said it is reserved at the store, the store said that is not true and I'll have to wait since I orderd it through them and not on-line

I say, they are &$%@# idiots but happly it appears to have turned out OK in the end.:D:D

So sick of ATT's ### if it wasnt for the faster data I would tell them to stuff it and stick to the 4 till the end of the contract.
 
So basically I order my phone on friday at 9:30 am got a confirmation email and saw the dollar come out of my acct then reversed which I know is all normal. Waited 3 days for the status on the order to change from received to pre-order. Called Tuesday they said wait 24 hours because they could't find my order even though I had an order number. After 6 different phone calls and being hung up on 3 times I get someone that says they are going to escalate the problem and got me to someone that spoke english " a premiere support specialist or something. This guy tells me that somehow my order got lost in the system and that I could either reinstate my order and wait the 21 to 28 day waiting period or cancel my order and go wait in line tomorrow morning. How wonderful is that. I know its not the end of the world but damn it took 6 days to get someone to just say "the system screwed you."

This is the only screen I get when I look up my order number. Nothing has changed in 6 days and none of the other places for checking on the status works
 
My phone has reached its second to last stop. Next stop, my house....tomorrow. :)

I haven't been able to get a single piece of information about my order, and I ordered over the phone at 8 AM EST on 10/7. The CSR I ordered with assured delivery on 10/14, otherwise I would not have ordered at all. AT&T has screwed this up in a big way. I've had every iPhone on launch day and never had problems like this, even when waiting in line for it for hours.


I ordered at a similar time over the phone and chatted online with AT&T today and they said it has shipped, and that carriers are 48 hours behind updating and now when I track by reference on UPS by my cell number (under mail innovations - which is their bulk shipment branch) I can see I have 1 package. I do not have any tracking # information, but I can see it. (I tried this trick for the past 2 days and it didn't work until today)

So you may want to try that. (and try fedex the same way since they are sending them through both carriers).

And I didn't get my T&Cs until Saturday at noon despite checking very regularly until it came. The official order confirmation came about an hour later.

What? Not camping @ Knox??? Totally w/ you...I was VERY close to switching to Verizon this time. Good chance I will when we get an LTE phone.
 
I looked at the other carrier threads... this one is so much angrier by comparison.

Much is caused by the brainless, inexperienced CSR's that ATT has hired for the iPhone 4s launch. Rather than giving out actual facts all we get are excuses, and lies that are pulled out of someone's arse. Call back again and it's another load of BS. Call on the phone and the voice status is something else entirely. Emailed status is even different. And it changes every time you call.

I just want the truth for once...

Hey guys,

Been following this for a while now and decided to sign up and make my first post. Anyway, I ordered my 16gb white on friday 7:30 Est from a AT&T store. It has been on backorder this whole time and I've been freaking out cause my old phone is now gone in anticipation of getting a new one tomorrow. So, after reading this for a while I decided to call up the store and cancel my preorder and just take my chances waiting in line tonight. After talking with the rep and getting everything cancelled, I was told that any orders in the store after about 2pm EST would not be arriving for 1-2 weeks. He also said that they would have " a little over 100 phones available tomorrow. at least thats all I'm aloud to say. but yeah probably a lot more then that."

Pretty ridiculous if you ask me. But just reinforces what most people think, AT&T is putting most preorders on backorder and saving the in store phones for people waiting in line. Just so they can maximize sales. Oh well guess ill be waiting in line tonight. Goodluck guys.
Anyone that ordered in the store is at the mercy of the store manager to get back ordered behind people that are ordering online and on the phone days later! Ridiculous. And notice the language. "That's all I'm allowed to say." Obviously they are not being up front about it. I'll have a conversation with the local manager at some point, just to let him know I'll be telling everyone I know in the area they are not to be trusted.

Because all my friends are pounding on his servers and so he can't look up my order number?

The AT&T guy i ordered from at the store just replied to me with this:

"I looked into it a little bit and this is what I came up with. There has been some cases of apple not sending or sending a blank tracking number. This doesn’t mean you won’t receive your phone. When we did the pre order the estimated shipping dates were 14-21 days from that date. However there has been confirmations from other people who did order the same date as you for the 14th or within days of that. The probability is you will receive your phone before that 14-21 days that was estimated."

This makes no sense. Why did I go to the store and pre-order then? I could have just walked in tomorrow.
 
Ordered mine at the att store on 10/7 at 10am when it opened. It's said this since I got the email confirming my order. I had that email about 15 mins after I left the store. Doesn't look good for me tomorrow. :(

YESS... Ordered on Friday at 4 am on AT&T website. White 64GB. Only just got a working UPS tracking number. Shipping overnight from Memphis TN.. scheduled delivery tomorrow (on schedule)
 
Just did some digging around using my tracking # and determined my iphone is on this flight http://flightaware.com/live/flight/FDX746

Plane is landing 20 minutes away from my house, so I think my iphone will be delivered on time tomorrow after all :)

I used that site to check on my iphone too! I typed in FDX for the airline and then typed the departure airport as KMEM and then my home airport. Looks like it's on it's way!

Actually AT&T is doing it's normal fantastic job.

The one I ordered for my wife, arrived this morning at 9:48am.

That's five years in a row that AT&T has brought our iPhones on release day or a day early.

I really appreciate that AT&T uses FedEx, since it's such a reliable service.

So the summary of my experience is as follows.

1) Order phone the moment the web site opened for AT&T pre-orders.

2) Received order confirmation email within minutes of placing order.

3) Next day received email with estimated shipping date

4) Following day received email with tracking number & estimated arrival date (10.14.11)

5) I waited the suggested 24 hrs for the tracking number to post, then confirmed it.

6) Followed via tracking number to see if it got stuck or cleared customs in Alaska.
(had a MBP get stuck in customs for 15 days once, customs fault)

7) Noticed it sailed through customs (Alaska) quickly (PHEW)

8) Arrived in Oakland last night, still says delivery date of 10.14.11

9) Checked this morning saw updated to: out for delivery.

10) Before I knew it I heard the rumble of the truck, phone arrives.

11) Hop in the car, take to wifes work so she can set it up and enjoy.

You just can't beat AT&T..

The key is you must be ready to order the moment the site goes live or it's a total crap shoot. Too much demand.

Mine shipped out of DFW this morning to Louisville, KY. Departed Louisville, KY at 3:20pm. On schedule for delivery tomorrow before 3:00pm to 28025.

Ordered 5:45am on 10/7 via ATT.
