I haven't seen a single post yet with someone who ordered through AT&T directly and received a shipping number. People who went thru the Apple store have begun to get them. att.com users have not yet. At least I know I haven't. If you ordered early Friday morning, I'm sure it will arrive on the 14th. :D

Are all the devices being shipped by Apple?
ATT is just acting as the middleman?
Could it be that ATT is waiting on a batch job at Apple to run and send ATT the updated statuses?
 
I placed an order for an upgrade to an existing line on my account for an iPhone 4S:

Date: 10/07/11
Time: 5:30AM CDT

I checked my order status today and received this message:

OS001: We apologize for the inconvenience. We cannot complete your request at this time. Please wait at least 24 hrs from placing your order, before checking the status of your order online. If the problem persists, please call us at 1-888-333-6651 for further assistance. NOTE: An email may have been sent to your email address on file. Please check your email which may have additional information about your order.

I called 5x to customer service and got 5 different stories as to why my order number isn't in their system. One story was that "Because Apple does not accept debit cards you will be not able to order the phone through them or AT&T." What? I've used my VISA debit card to purchase 1000's of dollars Apple products in an Apple store and on the Apple website. Regardless, she stuck to her lame story.

The last operator I spoke to informed me that they are aware of an issue with all orders that begin with 1401xxxxxxxxxxxxxx, SHe informed me also there will be an email sent out to all customers with an order number beginning with 1401 explaining the delay. How long of a delay? Of course, no answer provided. This could be pure 'put the customer off and tell them anything to ge them off the phone', but my credit card has a $1.00 hold on it at this moment by AT&T and my order is MIA.

I'm in AT&T HELL.

I will second that story...Had the exact same problem with order # series 1401xxxxxxx placed about 7:00AM 10/7 (EST). Got a confirm email minutes after the order went through but it has been showing the not found 24 hour blah blah blah error since.
Called this morning and was told I would have to reorder as there was no record anywhere of that order #. Placed a second order on the phone and immediately received a terms and conditions email which I agreed to. Cust Serv offered no guidance as to shipping but obviously I am in the second wave and therefore relegated to waiting. Fairly dissapointed...would be interested to see if I get the purported email explaining wtf happened!
 
Definitive answer on iPhone 4S Shipping times from ATT.com.

I just spent the last half hour on the phone with Premier, then the escalations department. They found a manager in the fulfillment department who gave me the following information. He says it's from a memo that was just released in the last hour.

If your order was placed:
Before 4PM EST on Oct 7, Delivery starting on Oct 14
Between 4pm EST Oct 7 to 12AM EST Oct 8th, Delivery in 14-21 days
After 12am EST on Oct 8th, Delivery in 21-28 days

This jives with what I heard Friday on this forum. Someone from AT&T CS said orders after 3:30PM Friday were being backordered. I ordered mine about an hour before that. Crossing my fingers.

Try going to the other order status page and see what it says there. There are two places to check your order. On your my account screen and then via the link in your ATT email.

I checked both. That's what I was referring to.

I got a shipping order number in my confirmation mail from AT&T (the second email). I ordered from AT&T by phone to a rep.

It was not a shipping notice and tracking number, though. The mail said I'd get a tracking number in a 3rd mail at point of shipment.
 
That 4pm cutoff sounds like an attempt at damage control. I guess someone figured they could easily meet the orders put before that time with the stock they are expecting, but there are other issues affecting individual orders (like credit checks) that makes that an iffy place to hang your hat on.

ATT sends the iphones out themselves. I ordered from them last year and from what I remember, they ship a day or two before the release date from a location in the USA. For the iPhone 4, Apple announced the last minute that they were gonna ship the phones to be delivered a day early and ATT followed suit.
 
Anyone else get a confirmation email that came hours after pre-ordering.

I ordered at 830am and didn't get the conf email until 320PM
I got the approve conditions email around 832Am

Not sure if the cut off is when you ordered or when the conf email came out and also not sure why it took almost 7 hours to get the confirmation email.

It has been 77 hours for me and still haven't received any emails. :( At this point I'm hoping my verbal approval to telesales when I ordered means there is no terms and conditions email...hoping.

The bottom line is this: If you ordered via the Premier website, DON'T use the standard AT&T order status page (it will give you inaccurate info). You should only use the Premier order status page.

Background: I placed a pre-order on the Premier site on Friday morning and received a confirmation email stating that my order will be delivered by Oct 14th. My Premier order status page shows "Pre-Order processing". I tried checking the standard ATT status page and my order said "BackOrdered"...
 
Did you order through Premier? I was told there was no "approve conditions" email.

We called AT&T directly from the phone *611#

This phone line/lines used to be through att biz and then converted the phones to our own contract, but we do have an employer discount.
Not sure if it's through att premier.
My order # starts with EXTP if that helps any.

In a same boat but thats helpful to know and makes sense too. When I call Premier support number it says its will be shipped shortly. No Backordered there though.
 
So i'm a premier customer, but the premier site does not recognize any of my order numbers.

the regular site(the one in my confirmation email) says that I am fine. nothing backordered or anything.

one of my numbers started with a "n" and the second email had a number beginning with a "extp".

I have an email stating I should be recieving my iphone on the 14th. and like I said, the regular status site says everything is clear. Thoughts?

If you ordered through the phone, that explains why they needed a separate email for you approving the Terms and Conditions. If you ordered online, you agreed to the terms and conditions during the sale.

In other words, thanks, you cleared up a question I had.

i could be wrong, but it just seems illogical to think that AT&T is receiving separate batches for regular customers vs. Premier customers. I'm sure all of AT&T's iPhones will be shipping/arriving around the same time depending on the time of the order. Perhaps Premier is just a diff. department/web site and is not updated as frequently?

You need the order id# that was emailed to you in the confirmation email. There should be a link in that email to:

Possible but ATT Premier (nothing special but just different) order eventually show up on the ATT.com status site and shows incorrect information i.e the order date shows Oct 9th but Premier shows Oct 7th. So there is definitely a question about the accuracy of the information.

My Order

I ordered from an actual ATT store Friday at 11am. Money was placed on hold from my bank account, but then received email stating shipping 14-21 days and on backorder. NOW my money is no longer on hold, nor was it taken from my account, and still says backorder. Anyone know what this may mean? Should I just wait in line on the 14th and hope to get one?
