AT&T iPhone 4S Pre-Order Status Thread

The iPhone tracking information FINALLY updated to show that it's at our local FedEx hub in Miami. Ironically, the Otterbox delivery, which was scheduled for delivery by noon on Saturday, now shows that it arrived at the exact same time as the iPhone (7:20am) and will also be delivered today. I guess I got lucky this time around!

Nope, and my card hasn't been charged as of this morning. I had a lengthy (and frustrating) discussion with the manager. They were told that due to the high demand of store volume last year for the 4, that AT&T changed their stock allocation to be mostly toward the stores and available on launch day.... those that ordered online before 4pmEST are in the first wave and will get it today, The next few waves go to the retail locations to have stock today. Then lastly, those who ordered in the store or after 4PM are pushed to the end of the line as low priorities. If you ordered on the store fairly early, expect it the week after next, by 10/28. if you ordered at the end of the day, expect it the first week of November.

In-store is low priority. I don't intend to frustrate or incite - just the info I was given and so far it looks accurate from this thread and the state of my order. 32GB Blk.

As much as i hate at&t now, listen my friend... i never call any rep or anyone just because YOU CANNOT TRUST THEM!!! if you look back the previous 100+ discussions, they were giving out totally different answers to everyone. as many approved here that even order late, they still have the phone and some even order early still waiting.. so it's insane~

I pre-ordered a white, 64gb phone at a local store around 9:05am CST on the 7th. I experienced all the frustration and conflicting information as everyone else up until yesterday evening.

At about 5:00pm I received a tracking number and my phone is now scheduled to be delivered by the end of today.

At least it isn't all the stores...

...though from everyone I talked to, the store employees were definitely the worst.

IDK, I ordered at almost 5PM on Friday and mine is out for delivery. I think there is more to it than that, almost an element of randomness.

I agree. but you can see certain themes that have come to light... such as the 4pm/5pm cut-off for online orders. I've seen multiple posts on this, and I heard it myself from both in-store & chat reps. The other one we'll see if it comes true is about store stock... if my AT&T store has more than 50 iPhones, I'll be really pissed.

In my case I had no choice, my FAN account requires I order in stores.. I tried at 3am for both the 4 & 4S and I just get errors to go in-store... even phone-premier can't help... so I'm stuck dealing with the stores.

This mgr is a decent guy... he was a little pissed because he's been dealing with some angry people this week, but I did feel like he was trying to be honest in delivering the bad info and having to reset expectations for many people that were led to beleive they would get it on 10/14 by being first-in-line.

Yay, my iP4S is officially in the same city as me! I know there are many who have been able to make that statement for a while, but it *just* happened for me and I'm stoked. Delivery probably won't be until 7pm-9pm cuz my UPS sucks like that, but, I'm still excited about the progress!

That's just as good as out for delivery - on-truck scans are the most common to miss especially for small packages.

Basic 16GB black. They probably have a bazillion of those, which might have helped.

i think its left the main hub, but has not been sorted near you for the local truck delivery.

At least we know where we stand. I'll let them know they are now a low priority for me. It's pretty obvious now that these manager's were given the choice to use their allotment of phones to fill pre- orders or to back order their pre-orders and get the phones in store to sell today. Most chose the latter option. Why AT&T ever forced this Hobson's choice on it's local store manager's is a mystery, but maybe they get more profit by cutting out the middle man. Well, I plan to cut the store out in the future. No soup for you next time, Mr. local AT&T store manager!

Well the strangest part is that it arrived at the main hub in memphis yesterday morning at 8am. Then it said "in transit" all afternoon and then this morning it said "departed fed ex location" also in memphis even though I live about an hour away and there is a smaller fed ex facility about 15 mins from my house.

Those who already received tracking info from ordering in store.. they proof that ordering in store doesn't necessarily mean you're auto-back-ordered. it's just luck draw. order online, in store or whatever doesn't matter.. i believe (not fact) that they just handle orders according to time it actually order and sign T&C. store orders might process little late. But for some of them who ordered late night and even saturday to get their phone.. that's unacceptable for at&t to mess up something like that~~

This thread should be closed to any who have any status beyond back-ordered... yours shipped, you have tracking info... go back to home/school/work or what ever and you will get your phone, even if it doesn't show until Monday... at least you have info and progress...

Do you realize how many people ordered early AM on 10/7 and are stuck in back-order as of this morning while we see people who ordered on 10/8 getting delivery.

Mine just says "at local fedex facility" It went from my local "sort facility" to "local fedex facility" at 6:20 AM still no "out for delivery"...

That's just as good as out for delivery - on-truck scans are the most common to miss especially for small packages.

I guess that makes me feel better... maybe it just missed the scan.

My Fedex stuff says Departed from FedEx location but that's in Indianapolis. I live in baltimore. That was at 4:15pm yesterday. That's the latest thing i have. Hopefully it changes soon.
