Still on Backorder. The last few days I have been considering whether to go to Sprint and try to get one, and just tell Att to **** off, but Sprint kinda sucks here. I'm pretty much stuck with stupid att. NEVER ordering from att EVER again, for anything. Not even a **** case. If I don't get it today, I will be calling and cussing at someone until my tongue bleeds. I'm hoping that it goes like last year, where I heard of a bunch of people who were backordered and clueless ended up getting a surprise iPhone delivery.

I'm hoping that as well, but I'm not getting my hopes up too much until I hear the first story of someone with a backorder status getting theirs today.

----------

Was in in same place as of this morning so went to ATT store at 7:30, have iphone in hand :)

Would suggest to try...if a store is nearby.

Just a side note, for anyone thinking of asking if you can swap your order for one that's instock in the store I was told "no".

same here! I've had my fingers crossed every night that i'd wake up to a change though and nothing has happened, so i'm losing hope.

Eff this. I'm in the AT&T store right now. I'm going to cancel my order and buy from here. If they don't let me, I'll buy full price then return the others when they arrive in a month. Or, sell them for $900 on eBay or Craigslist.

My black 64 GB iPhone 4S just arrived. It arrived at 9:15 AM EDT, rather quickly after being "Out for Delivery".

It is like this thing that happened to me the other day. I went with my fiance and 3 friends (5 of us total) to eat at a local restaurant for lunch. We got to the restaurant at 12:30 and the restaurant was very empty. There was maybe 2 other groups of people there eating lunch. We saw there was one round table large enough to fit 6 people and the rest of the tables were 4 person tables. Instead of the restaurant hostess seating us at the 6 person table she put us on a 4 person table and brought up a chair to put on the side of the table. The restaurant chose to treat us 2nd rate because they wanted to keep that 6 person round table open for a group of 6 people rather than make us 5 customers who were already there feel satisfied because lets face it, we were already there. About 40 minutes later and they are still empty and a group of 3 women come inside and get seated at the 6 person table. Thats like a slap in the face to my group of 5 people who were cramped at the small table. I know I will not be eating at that restaurant anymore.

Just curious, but why didn't you just ASK to be moved? I mean, really, if you just ask they will move you...because if they don't, they know they risk losing a tip. I do it all the time. I'm a crotchety old bag that doesn't like (noisy) children, so I ask to be seated elsewhere if there's a particularly annoying kid. I've even requested a particular side of the room because it was freezing cold on one side of the building. They honestly don't seem to care if you aren't an ******* about it.

The problem with changing services is that all of the carriers who have the iPhone are bad, just bad in different ways. Pick your bad. For me, ATT is the least evil of the three. I had way crappier customer service from Verizon and Sprint than I do at ATT-- excepting the iPhone fiasco, of course. I'm just angry-- I want to switch services, it's a reflex reaction to the situation. When I consider the logic of that idea I understand it's not logical or practical to switch to a service I know will be worse in the long run.

My iPhone is still backordered.

looks like ups messed up on my order  :(

Hate Fedex...

Fedex just delivered my phone at 8:00am. I had already left for work but, luckily, someone else was home because they just left it on the porch. The box was also all banged up which is rare for air packages but oh well, at least it is here!

AT&T sucks...

Placed my order 1:45pm EST on AT&T's website on Oct 7th.

Got a confirmation email at 1:48pm EST that my phone is scheduled to be delivered on the 14th. With an order number and a order status page. Order status updated to the 'pre-order' stage on the 9th.

Visahold held on my CC on the 9th. Checked my AT&T account and it says my order is pending shipping.

Checked my AT&T order on the 13th, says status is backordered, same with the order_status website.

Oct 14th visahold on my account expires money back in my account, and still no status on my order other than backorder...

This is HORRIBLE, I am seriously considering walking into the AT&T store asking to cancel my pre-order and get a Galaxy S2. They've done this now for several years they have to know what to expect... and this year the iPhone was late they had that much longer to prep for the onslaught...

You can't make this assumption across the board. I ordered in-store on Friday morning and my iPhone is out for delivery as we speak.

I agree with your first statement. I don't agree with the second statement because I have never seen anything but complete and utter awesomeness on the part of my local AT&T store. I bought my 3GS from them at release (upgrade from 3G). I waited in line for my iPhone 4 and the manager even recognized me from previously doing business there and held a 32GB aside because they were running out. I pre-ordered my 4S in-store and it is out for delivery. AT&T has treated me great over the past 4 years.

I'm happy to hear that you have a great local store that goes above and beyond. This still doesn't change the situation that the corporate policy does not allow customers to make in store pre-orders for in store stock. It is a policy that caters to getting as many customers as possible while giving the people who pre-ordered the shaft.

I myself pre-ordered online and will be receiving my phone today but I still feel bad for all of the people who thought they could go into the store and pre-order and still get their phone on time. If I was in their position I would be upset too.

My Fedex stuff says Departed from FedEx location but that's in Indianapolis. I live in baltimore. That was at 4:15pm yesterday. That's the latest thing i have. Hopefully it changes soon.

Mine departed Indianapolis at the same time and arrived in Dulles, VA at 4:15am. It's now out for delivery. I live sort of nearby you (metro DC area) so ours may have traveled together at least partway. Maybe yours just missed a scan somewhere?

I was told that my backordered phone would be shipped in 21-28 days and that I can't cancel the order, I can only wait for it and refuse the delivery. I can however go to the AT&T store and buy it for full retail price! LUCKY ME!

Exactly

Just because some in-store manger's did the right thing by some of their customers does not change the fact that there is a differnt cue altogether from the online/phone in orders. That fact alone is absurd and I have yet to see this refuted by an AT&T CSR or store manager. All you get is spin and lies. Ridiculous policy that wasn't known by any customers at the time. I would have just gone home and ordered online if I'd known.

My phone is out for delivery, but i have not been charged for my phone yet on my credit card. Is anyone else in the same boat? I ordered from AT&T, maybe free?! haha :D

Me too, I also just received my new credit card in the mail, I wonder what will happen if I activate it, and AT&T can't run the card? $200 charge on my next AT&T bill?

Still wondering if anyone expects a delivery today if they have been in my boat. Ordered the 7th wth email confirmation for delivery on the 14th. Status page as of now still shows pre-ordered (Priemier site). Last year I think this was the same crap but the phone was delivered and it never appeared on the defex or UPS site. I sold my iPhone 4 on ebay, I have to ship it today. I'm not sure what to do.

same boat I'm in. The order status page says I ordered the 9th though so that screwed me over according to AT&T now I'm waiting 21-28 days according to the lady on the phone.

Ha! i would try it if i was you. Maybe you can slip through the cracks! enjoy your phone today, cant wait to leave work and rip open that box. :p

I completely agree with you. It is a very absurd policy that is centered on profit margins rather than customer satisfaction.
