Just a reminder to anyone without a tracking number, Fedex can also look up packages based on destination address. It's not 100% (a Fedex rep told me nothing was in the system for my address even after I had a confirmation number), but it's another way to check if you haven't heard anything official.
 
Well, I solved my problem. Went to ATT store. 2 people ahead of me. I told them rep my problem and that I wanted to cancel my preorder. She said that couldn't be done from the store. Fortunately, the 2nd line on my family plan was eligible for upgrade, so used that one and swapped phone #'s. They told me to bring the pre-ordered one in for a refund and reset of eligibility once I get it.

Actuallly a pleasant experience and they seemed to have plenty of stock. Phone in hand.

Im on a family plan and there is another line that is eligible for an upgrade. So you're saying that i can upgrade that line and then at&t can swap the phone number?

can you look it up online using your address? or you have to call or go to the store?
 
Did yours say backordered online? or yours said shipped but you didn't have tracking information?

My order status page still shows it as pending shipment, it was backordered on sat-sun, but then disappeared on Monday

I called Fedex, no record, what a shocker.. Went back onto a live help and they telling a completely different story now.. Im sorry but this level of service is ********* b**lshit - How can you specifically tell a customer one thing, ask a confirmation and then they utterly lie to you

Bogus man.. bogus.. better come today or I need to cancel this order, 14-20 days Im not waiting

I noticed there is no option to turn of the 3G like there was in previous models. I dont know if this means that the signal will be better or what but for heavy users like me, 3G kills my phone

Call 1-800-GoFedex and just say "operator" until the automated system transfers you. Tell the CSR that you don't have a tracking number and they should ask for your address.

I don't believe you can do it online, and while I do assume that you can ask a store associate, I've not tried it.
 
I'm right there with you, who knew that trying to preorder it to get it on time would backfire?

It sucks honestly and leaves a bad taste in my mouth...Ive been with TMO for about 5 years now NEVER an issue like this...customer service is awesome never had a problem with reception..now I have rude reps, long wait times, and a useless preorder...

i doubt i'll be as lucky as you then, mine still says backordered when I was told it'd be sent last night or this morning for delivery today or Monday. :(
 
JUST got this message sent to my phone. Shipping hasn't started in Cali yet, as it is only 9:28 am. Did anyone else receive this just now? Or receive it earlier? I really hope this means that I'll be expecting a phone today.

I got one of those about an hour ago. I think it's mostly meant to keep people who pre-ordered from wandering into the local store. Otherwise, it's meaningless.
 
I'm on the same boat as you I ordered a white and black 16 gb iphone at 7 am PST. The black iphone has shipped but the white still says pre-order.

i'm the opposite, the white one has shipped n black is not... feel sorry for my husband... he was the one who laughed at me when i set my alarm on the 7th..., now he will get his phone couple of wks later then me lol~
 
I ordered my white 32gb on 10/7 @ 9:30 AM CST over the phone, accepted the TC on the 7th as well. My credit card has been charged the full amount and so far my order status is still "in progress" according to numerous CSRs I've spoken to. No shipping email or tracking number and I see people who ordered after me getting their actual delivered phones.

Being bummed is an understatement.

I am in the same "exact" boat, and I mean, word for word, exact!

I am on the phone rt now for the last 30 minutes, and the chick even tried to call my local store (8 times) to see if they had one in stock she could set me up with, (they refuse to answer the phone).

I am on hold and she is seeing if there is something her manager can do.

All I wanna know is when i'm gonna get my phone, and she tried everything but just dont know -

That was a waste of an hour, I still know nothing, (well, I DO know that there is $212.08 in my checking account, that I know) -
 
I'm excited to get my phone today but I know it's going to be a hassle trying to activate it.

For those who are getting the text message: did you order in-store, online, or by phone?

i ordered in store at 145pm Eastern time on October 7th, and JUST received a text message saying "thanks for your iPhone order! remember, no need to visit a store. Your device will ship directly to the address stated on your confirmation e-mail."

I was given a website to track my shipment and it still says 1 quantity back ordered.

Looks like i am not getting it today

I also called the ATT store i ordered from, they said they have phones available today but not many, and it will sell out fast. They also said that they won't have any more after today for a long time, and that i shouldn't cancel my pre order, and just wait because since i DID order it on the 7th I should get it before 15 days.

I wish i just didn't pre order and went to the store today and picked on up.
 
For those who ordered in store

I ordered in store 10/7 - same 'backorder' issue as everyone.

Called the store today as a 'potential' new customer and asked if they had the phone in stock - they did.

Went up to the store, CALMLY explained my situation to the manager who then CANCELED my pre-order and I got my phone / upgrade right there.

He mentioned they were just informed how to do this (cancel pre-orders).

So if you really want it today and it hasn't shipped it's worth trying this route.
