I called to check on mine again and thy told me that it will not ship until I accept the terms and conditions???? I told them I ordered online and went on for 10 mins about my issues thus far and she said sorry sir but I can resend you the terms and conditions to accept. I gave up and just went to a store this morning and got one.:mad:
 
At last! UPS just dropped off my 4S. No signature was required! Glad I was camping out here waiting for it. Good luck to all of you who are still waiting on yours!
 
Ordered 3 phones (32W, 64W, 64B) online at 4:30AM EST on 10/7
Online information says order date was 10/10 (apparently due to a delay porting our numbers)
All phones are still listed as backordered and "in progress."

Despite all of this, I was reassured by an AT&T rep yesterday that since I placed my order in the wee hours of Friday morning I'd still be getting it today, maybe by Monday, even though I don't have any shipping info on it.

Just watched the UPS truck whiz right past my house, though, so I'm guessing that won't be happening. Such a disaster--if there were a way for me to cancel my order now and buy from another carrier, I absolutely would.

I also have been getting the feeling that AT&T reps are straight-up lying to customers to make things easier for themselves--it seems like everyone I've talked to has taken the line of "Oh, you're fine! Wait and see if you have it by Monday!" to avoid actually having to know what's going on.

did you really CAMP outside in from of your house? as in set up a tent and sleep?

Not always. I've definitely gotten many packages in the past where online tracking hasn't shown anything until after my package is delivered. But, yeah, obviously I wasn't expecting that it had shipped, which is why I've been trying to call to see WHY or find a way to cancel and get it in-store only to be lied to by AT&T reps that it very well could be on its way and I should just wait patiently and see.

It's just so ridiculous, since there are clearly other factors at work determining when you get your phone besides the time you ordered it. I literally waited up all night trying to get my order in for Friday morning, and only resorted to AT&T when Apple seemed to be having serious issues--huge mistake.
 
i doubt i'll be as lucky as you then, mine still says backordered when I was told it'd be sent last night or this morning for delivery today or Monday. :(

Originally from guaranteed on the 14th, to 14-28 days, then it turned into guaranteed by 14th again, then it became 14th or 15 (had to stop them there and cross-examine about saturday delivery, still have yet to see aone other person mention this, another BS remark from CS)

Today I get told its shipped and with fedex call them and give your address, I do that and nothing is found, I go back to live help and they say no you crazy it hasnt shipped yet. Call them same thing. hasnt shipped yet

Just a bunch of BS constantly churned by CS, I understand they may not all look at the same info but thats some serious contradictory information saying its shipped get it today as opposed to its sitting in our dusty warehouse and we will ship it when we feel like it..

AT&T response is inaccurate

I just received a response to my email about the in-store pre-order "direct fullfillment" hell many of us have been placed in. Here it is:

"Based on the information I have regarding iPhone 4S pre-orders, the method used by AT&T company-owned retail stores is the same as that used by Customer Care or for orders placed online. iPhones pre-ordered in company owned AT&T stores are placed into our order system at the time they are processed where we can track the progress and they are delivered by mail.

I can see that your phone is currently on back order and will be shipped once the inventory is available. Unfortunately, this is the case for many people due to the large demand for the new iPhone. I am very sorry for the delay and for any concern or frustration this has caused you."

I just responded that this is inaccurate and invited her to visit this forum. We'll see if we get anywhere through this avenue, keep you posted.

The online tracking page is still showing back-ordered '1', and no tracking # or email yet.
However, I just got the following text from AT&T about 30 min. ago:


AT&T Free Msg: Thx for your iPhone order! Remember, no need to visit a store. Your device will ship directly to the address stated on your confirmation e-mail.

We'll have to see what happens.

Just wanted to chime in and let you know that I was able to have ATT cancel my 'backordered' 21-28 day phone order and reinstate my eligibility so I could pick up a phone today in store.

They call it a 'order reversal', so if anyone is frustrated because they are on backorder, but stock is in store, you can definitely go this route.

I actually had them do this twice, the first time they did it to correct an inadvertently canceled pre-order, and then today they did it to allow me to purchase in store.

I actually got my in-store purchase BEFORE my preorder. The irony!

Sorry to tell you. but changes of you seeing a phone this week are near zero, and next week may even be a high-luck factor... that message is because you won't be getting a phone. they are trying to block a wave of people going to the stores and holding a riot, wait till 4-5PM rolls around and UPS/Fedex deliveries are wrapping up meanwhile the store is open until 9pm but will probably be sold out of (your pre-order they took to sell others) and there are going to be a lot of pissed off people...

That email is essentially salt on the wounds, they are just trying to push you away.

Not knowing 100% is entirely different from not knowing ANYTHING. It's ridiculous how much misinformation AT&T has been spewing out with this release. And, telling people to "hold tight" and that their order could very well have shipped when they know absolutely nothing is certainly not an informed response to give a customer who's waited two hours to get information on how to cancel an order.

This whole thing is just such a mess. Seriously regretting switching to AT&T.
 
AT&T just botched this. Again. Whatever their metric was (existing customers under contract, in-store orders, etc.) they oversold their allotment and had to screw somebody. They reversed my credit card hold and placed me in backorder, even though I placed my order on Friday morning 10/7 and had received a reservation confirmation email. I don't have the time to sit on hold or run to a store, so I'm going to wait this out. Something tells me its going to be like a watched pot.

I got the text and so did hubby. Rots- we ordered from the AT&T retail store at 11:22 est.
So I guess they have gotten so many irate calls that they are trying to apease all of us.

For iPhone 4, I received my phone about 10 minutes after I got the shipping confirmation by email. The CRs are aware of how ****** their system is and are trying to put a positive spin on the oversell.

So let me get this straight: They have the phone I want IN STOCK at the store, but since I 'pre-ordered' I have to wait 21 days? This is stupid. My official upgrade date was 11/25. If those time estimates are correct, I will not get my iPhone until then? What BS!!:mad::mad::mad:

You can have them cancel your backorder and re-instate your eligibility pricing and buy in store.

No. That'd be rather silly, since I have a bed here and all. :p

Decided to work from home today just to sign for the thing, turns out it wasn't even necessary. But I'm glad I was here anyway, lest the phone sit on the front porch all day.

What about if your order is not on backorder?
I called the store they claim they cannot cancel the order there they say I must pay FULL retail price on the phone and only when I get the preorder I can return it and pay regular upgrade price

Has anyone done the in-store purchase with a pending shipment status?
 
I am in the same "exact" boat, and I mean, word for word, exact!

I am on the phone rt now for the last 30 minutes, and the chick even tried to call my local store (8 times) to see if they had one in stock she could set me up with, (they refuse to answer the phone).

I am on hold and she is seeing if there is something her manager can do.

All I wanna know is when i'm gonna get my phone, and she tried everything but just dont know -

That was a waste of an hour, I still know nothing, (well, I DO know that there is $212.08 in my checking account, that I know) -

Nice to hear I'm not completely alone in this :)

I might attempt to head to a local AT&T store after work and try to hash it out over there.
 
This is now driving me crazy :eek:

I look outside there is a big giant tractor pulling one of those 8 ft x 16 ft mower plates accross the field next to my house LOL. So loud I cant tell if Fedex is here or not but wait I heard something its a darn UPS truck accross the street :confused:

Hahah same here. First it was a USPS truck then it was a Sparkletts water truck.
