Apple sold 4 MILLION iPhones in that first weekend. So 4 million people got the iPhone that they wanted, which beats the previous record by MORE THAN DOUBLE. And yet you and others are acting like there is some grand conspiracy to keep people from getting their phones.

Apple may have sold 4 million phones, but 4 million phones were not delivered. Preorders not yet delivered still count as a sell, as the providers have locked customers into contracts and can count that as a unit sold. I've been reading this post since 10/8, most people on here are not claiming a conspiracy, although, I think we can all agree that AT&T did put the majority of their in-store preorders to the back of the line and then preceded to take care of web and phone orders first. I will agree that some of theories while a little over zealous and ridiculous in their claims, but I think the fact that AT&T put people to the back of the line to sell more phones is true, it was not first come first served as advertised.

you are going wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy tooooooooooooooooooo far man, no body hate those who got their phone and im positive that those of us who didn't received our phone did not HATE those who received it. You're doing too much harm the community. you've acrossed the line.

Please explain how I've gone too far when I've been called a liar, paid by AT&T, AT&T's number one fan, and a bunch of other rude stuff. All that I've been doing is calling BS when I see someone making weird generalizations about AT&T execs hating their customers, laughing it up while you all wait for your phones, etc. I'm not saying you shouldn't be upset that you haven't received your phone. I'm just saying that you are making it weirdly personal.

My iPhone 4S pre-order is to be shipped to my work directly, not the AT&T store... Same as my iPhone 4 in June 2010. I'm still back ordered.

I don't think local stores factor into this... AT&T corporate may be pushing in-store inventory ahead of pre-orders though.

I only pointed that out because some were saying that they thought that in-store stock was being held for sale instead of being used for delivery to pre-order customers.

Didn't spell check or review it again :)

Of course this was planned. You think it wasn't because you can' see your status online. Thats just ATT's dumb corporate structure. I've been to the huge ATT facility in San Ramon, CA a few times. Everyone who works there has random letters and codes assigned to them as their email, not initials. No one knows the person sitting in the cube next to them. There is no sense of camaraderie in that company. When I used to work for a smaller software company in Palo Alto, I knew every single person's name in the entire company. And everyone knew mine, as well as everyone elses.

A company like ATT who functions like this, is certain to have the same type of structure with their servers. Which they do. I've seen some of the structure and its not organized at all for the National level.

You placed your order somewhere in the country, but the server that is supposed to tell you your status, is somewhere else and the date perhaps never got to it.

Another funny thing, I ordered a Satechi CR -3600 for my iPhone which hasn't even arrived yet at 1am this morning, October 18 Pacific time. I get free 2 day shipping because Amazon is free. The product is in Arizona, same time zone. 3 HOURS later from my order, the product is shipped and will be delivered a day early. They did this because they have stock available. Hmm... ATT has Iphone 4s stock available.

Its the honor and the integrity of the company thats the problem, it is a private entity yes, controlled by a few men. They are the ones who we should be angry at. They can change the entire thing if they wanted to, give us phones, make call centers correspond geographically to calls, give us all a phone, and extra phone at that for our troubles, change the corporate structure and hardware/software infrastructure. Whole thing can be accomplished in less than 6 months and ATT would be sure to be around for the next 1000 years. As I mentioned before, they will probably still be around for that long... because we need them.

Check out the attachment for proof.

Frankly is right in a sense. Good that you got your phone. I'm happy for you, still waiting on mine. I don't really care what ATT did anymore, as no one here should anymore. Its done, it happened, they screwed up. They did deliver many phones on time. Good. What about the ones that they didn't? Why are they not correcting this situation. They are just waiting on new stock like a bunch of *******s.

I CARE that a huge corporation who last year (2010) made around $54 MILLION DOLLARS NET PROFIT PER DAY every day for the year isn't correcting this problem that THEY caused.

They have stock in their retail stores.... If your local store doesn't have one, have them ship you one from a store nearby or out of state that does have one. We thought we are their loyal customers, obviously they don't care about us. ATT say's we want to have stock in stores for people who want to buy a phone. HOLY ****, let them WAIT. We preordered for a damn reason. LET NEW CUSTOMERS WAIT 2 weeks for their phone, THEY WILL CERTAINLY AND DEFINITELY UNDERSTAND AND BE OK WITH IT.

"Oh it was sold out, must be a popular phone, will come back in 2 weeks" - Is what a new customer would say... They expect the phone to be sold out

"I preordered mine on the day they started taking preorders and still dont have mine, but my neighbor who is switching from Tmobile got his today in 1 hour, but they won't let me do that"

As Frankly said, yes they delivered many phones on time, but they are not correcting the mess that they have made. The only reason I'm stuck to ATT is my Unlimited Data plan. Now someone might say, oh, so then ATT is a good company because they let you keep that. Again, BS, everyone could have unlimited data, they are just greedy. So what if the corporation made 53 or 52 million net profit per day for the year. Everyone gets paid in the end.

They just don't give a **** about us.

Another long one, I don't know which is longer haha

Riddle me this - I ordered my wife's phone and my phone at the same time on Friday, October 7th, 2011. I received a confirmation email from premier at&t at 2:36 pm CDT for my wife's phone. Mine followed at 2:49 pm CDT. Her phone arrived on October 14th. I called throughout the week of 10/10-14 and was consistently told "If you ordered before 4/5/5:30 pm you should receive your phone on the 14th." Of course when I asked what time zone they were referring to they couldn't answer - they assumed central. Regardless, mine is in backorder purgatory.

So boy wonder, how come mine didn't arrive on time and isn't even showing the slightest sign of being delivered?

I did some rudimentary Googling and found a few phone numbers of AT&T Mobility corporate offices.

These numbers can be freely found on the internet with the search engine Google. They are as follows:

210-821-4105 - Ralph de la Vega (AT&T Mobility CEO) #1
404-236-6000 - Ralph de la Vega (AT&T Mobility CEO) #2
404-236-7895 - Peter Ritcher (AT&T Mobility CFO)
877-707-6220 - AT&T Corporate - East
800-498-1912 - AT&T Corporate - West

I am unsure of any of these numbers and have not called any of them. I do not believe they are personal numbers. Call and let them know how well your pre-order experience is going.

I was getting that when I entered my phone number, but not via tracking number. Weird system. Have you tried calling ATT?

----------

Since quantity backordered is now 0 for all items, expect your tracking number tonight. They usually ship overnight!

The ATT person did say it would ship out today, at the latest. But I'll just wait and see. I'm more or less pissed because I'm gonna have another Sprint bill to pay (But I'll sell my Nexus S, EVO and 2 Samsung Vibrants to make up the difference;)).

I hope you're right....

Yeah, I feel really bad for this. I honestly think ATT had different batches as some people who ordered later online are getting it earlier. I hope this doesn't happen next year......

My pre-order iPhone is still on back order. (pre-ordered on oct 7). I went to the at&t store I pre-ordered the phone and they told me that they could not cancel my order. I called up customer service and after about a 25min call they spoke with the sales rep at the store and suggested that the only way to reverse the order is to have it waived by the district manager. Well that's what happened and they were able to cancel my order and give me a new phone from there stock. they only had 64gb, but thats the one I ordered.

I am lolling at the people who preordered in store on Friday 10/7 who thought they were going to get their phones on 10/14. Clueless to the hundreds of thousands that ordered before the AT&T stores even opened.

....wait......

wait, so there are still iphone4s at AT&T stores? Last Sunday many of them were completely sold out and they told me they would not be getting anymore shipments until weeks later.

Which is why I'm not sure if I should call to cancel my online pre-order.. I don't want to be left with nothing.

Sorry I'm a newbie to the whole US cellphone carrier thing but does anyone know, as a new customer of ATT (just signed up during the pre-ordering online), would I be able to get an iphone at the Apple store? do they accept new ATT customers to buy it from there?

If this is possible then I am cancelling .. (assuming I can get them to)

News from AT&T....

For those of you who "PRE-ORDERED" iPhone 4s 10/7/11, Sometime someday in the near future, you WILL get a iPhone before years end...

I have no idea what happened to your second phone. You don't think they had something personal against you though right as many are claiming in here? I am curious, did you order the same model (color/size) for you and your wife?

I pre-ordered mine in store at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, 10/7 and received it at my house at 10:48 a.m. on Friday, 10/14. Still lolling weirdo?

I'm going to say this as respectfully and politely as I possibly can. You're incomprehensibly stupid. There's tons of people that pre-ordered in store hours before people who placed pre-orders online. However, those in-store preorders were (without anyone's knowledge) being put at the end of the line and those people who preordered online AFTER us have already received phones. I'm laughing out loud at the fact that you really just said "lolling"--this indicates you're either a 13 year old girl or have the intelligence of one. Stop acting like you know something.

=(

I waited too long!!! All the iphone 4s are sold out where I live!

Does anyone knows how long does it takes for apple to iphone get back in stock??

Thanks :D
