I found one at a store near my house, hesitant to jump on it heard the upgrade reversal takes 24hrs . It may be gone by then, Anyone else notice there upgrade take 24hrs tp reverse?
 
Well, so much for the folks who were told that things might update last night at midnight. Still backordered, in-store order 10/7 10:30 AM EST. I was told at the time that I had missed the deadline for 10/14, and that it would be 14-21 days, which now means sometime between this Friday and next.

Is there anyone who
-ordered on 10/7 in-store, and
-was told they had missed 10/14 delivery, and
-therefore has been on backorder since the 7th
-that has seen any change in their order yet?

I've GOT to be one of the first in line once the backorders start shipping. Just hearing that someone has seen movement would be nice to hear.

I didn't even try to cancel - no stock anywhere in town.

I ordered from at&t (non-premiere account) online on 10/7 @ 6AM PST. My order # is 1301******. Over the last few weeks I've called customer services at least ten times about my shipment status. I was lied to several times about "it's on the truck right now sir!", but I'm not surprised. One helpful gentleman was able to tell me almost everything about my order, even what position I am in the backorder queue (around 4000). He assured me that I would definitely be "one of the first" shipments once at&t has been restocked, whenever that is.

I was about to follow the cancel the pre-order trend and just go down to my local at&t store and pick my phone up, but they sold out before I could get down there.

I do believe at&t has handled this poorly. What is the point of even calling it a pre-order if we can just waltz down to our local store and buy the very same phone? At&t had a week between 10/7 and 10/14 to crunch some numbers and make an educated guess that their pre-orders were larger than first expected! They should have allocated the phones for the stores and applied them to the pre-orders. Seems fair to me.

Anyway, enough ranting. Bottom line is: If I'm charged for anything extraneous on my upcoming bill related to the iPhone 4s, or if I see an "upgrade fee", the CSR's boss's boss's boss's boss is going to hear about it. Yes, I've escalated that high before.
 
I waited too long!!! All the iphone 4s are sold out where I live!

Does anyone knows how long does it takes for apple to iphone get back in stock??

so i finally found a supervisor from att to be able to cancel my preorder. Was supposed to recieve a text message once done.

have yet to recieve that text.

hoping it gets reversed soon.


You will now prolly miss out on the 2nd batch of phones, and will be stuck waiting for the x-mas shippment -
 
for the people who pre-ordered in store. try to contact the person that SOLD you the phone. don't try to get some random person because they won't know the details that the seller told you personally. I went to the store today and spoke to the lady who helped me. She felt very sorry about the situation that happened and specifically told me. "You should have your phone by FRIDAY 10/21, and if we get an earlier shipment before then, I will reserve the two phones you pre-ordered and I'll personally call you to have them picked up and CANCEL your pre-order." Then she went on and on, about how sorry she was that this happened. So if no shipment this week or friday, she's going to give me 75 dollars off BOTH phones! I don't know if all AT&T stores are like that but I wasn't walking in there furious. I did before, but with another person which had no detail whatsoever and told me I couldn't cancel my pre-order. She admitted that their CSR could in fact cancel their pre-order. But they said if you cancel it and unluckily not get a phone, you will not be guaranteed a phone. With this pre-order you all have that is backordered, keep your calm. You are ALL guaranteed the phone, whether its 2-3 weeks or longer. Just think about the people who haven't pre-ordered.. they have to keep calling to see if they have a new shipment. Just keep your calm and you'll have Siri in your hands in no time. :):):):):):)

I ordered online on the 7th still backordered

It's not just in store orders that didn't get their phone Friday. I ordered before 7AM central online. My credit card got messed up because AT&T hit BofA about 7 times and it turned up fraud alert. By the time I got that straightened out it was 11AM. I have my original confirmation email saying I would get a phone on the 14th. I went to the store Friday and they had plenty but the CSR on the phone told me I couldn't cancel my order.

Yesterday I called the folks at online orders. I was told they could cancel my order anytime. However there are nophones within 50 miles of me.

Now I am upset. I can survive without the latest and greatest. But I don't understand being punished for pre-ordering and making things easy for the folks at the local store.

i ordered on oct 12 from apple.com, now my order status says "preparing for shipment, when do they usually ship out the iphone after the status changes to "preparing for shipment"? is it the next day or it could take a few days in that process?

Totally agree. at this point waiting for few days or possibly 1 week seems to be acceptable (kind of)... but it's the whole PRE-ORDERED thing... pre-ordered in store thing to be exact, and pre-order people will get later than actual walk in on launch day... and etc etc.. lol, im repeating myself 1000000x times.... lol~ again, no news

Been reading and lurking since around page 130--about Tuesday of launch week. Initially wanted to know what "in progress .. Backordered 1 .. Pending shipment" meant. Preordered replacement for this smurfin' iPhone 3G at at&t store, for delivery to my house, right after work on 10/7 in us eastern time zone--store on balltown Rd in niskayuna ny. (Forgive sloppy diction--typing on SLOW old 3G.) I know this was late on preorder day. That's cool--my fault.

Status hasn't changed since then. Upgrading customer with grandfathered unlimited plan. Josh who took preorder was helpful and honest (so far)--will take approximately 2-3 weeks. And that's what the confirmation email said. I feared a rush on the stores, and given my need to work all day, opted to preorder. (Newbie that I am, didn't think to try online order--and would have worried about losing Unlimited plan if I'd tried online order.)

On Saturday, with no phone, I tried going to the store. Asked helper girl if my model was in stock. Yes. Okay, then, I know some stores are allowing cancellaton of preorders--can I do that? No. Seriously!--You have what I preordered in the back room, but won't sell it to me? Yep.

I am not a confrontational guy. I let it go, but that was the insult that keeps me coming back to this thread and reading your-alls' stories. AT&T still hasn't lied to me or misrepresented--approx 2-3 weeks haven't passed--but it was quite a slap to be told I couldn't cancel and buy what a walk-in could buy. Alas.

Other data points for you all: when they told me I couldn't cancel, the girl mentioned that (helpful) AT&T employee Josh hadn't gotten his phone yet, was back-ordered, and also couldn't cancel. I suspected this was BS, so later ran his mobile number (from his business card) under the assumption he'd have the phone shipped to work. Order status for Josh's mobile turns up the "try again another time" error. And status for all iphone 4s orders linked to his work number--the AT&T store (518-381-7130 ZIP 12304) in niskayuna--is "in progress, backordered, pending shipment."

So I guess we provincial rubes are all in the same boat.

Good luck to all of you. PS--anyone have any thoughts on the lifeproof gen2 case? My 3G iPhone is in bad shape. Looking for something sturdy but sleek to protect the new toy phone--if it ever arrives.

Technically Schenectady, but my toy phone store is near the 5 Guys in Nsky. Hope your phone comes soon! (but that mine comes a little sooner--Friday vs Saturday and all...) Grin.
 
Ordered on the 7th, ATT cancelled it, ordered successfully on 8th. ATT rep said my order was active and ready to be picked up by FEDEX on the 13th. Still no phone. Called yesterday and got runaround by foreign CSR, useless.

13th my credit card went from a $1 AUTH to a full $335 charge. Today (18th) the charge expired and was refunded. Not a good sign. I don't care if it takes long, I just want a straight answer.

ATT premier order status still says pre-ordered, last updated the 13th. White 32GB, new customer. ATT sent email yesterday "reminding me" that I ordered and should expect it in 14 days. Thanks, I forgot I spent over $300 and pre-ordered an iPhone, things like that slip my mind you know.

Well said. This is the crux of the preorder debacle. Still not sure how ATT could screw this up so badly. You're a bit ahead of me in order date. Keep us posted. Good luck!

That would be getting into 'pass on this version' territory.

Holding my preorder, but if it's not delivered by Nov 7 it's being refused.

A used iP4 to patch until fall 2012 is a better situation for many.

I haven't gotten any notice either. I told them it would have been cheaper to update my on-line status than to talk to me for an hour a day!

I'll wait it out, but past November 1st, I'm going to a store and getting one (earliest the store can move my upgrade).

That is exactly what mine said Oct 8.-just pending shipment.I ordered online.


My order that I placed on the 14th (confirmed the terms and conditions on the 16th) went from backordered "1" on all items to "0." Does this mean my items are allocated for and ready to be sent over?
