I preordered on the 7th in store. I went back into the same store today and they still have no idea when i can expect to get it.

I hate ATT. I cant cancel or do anything about it. They just have my money and order and are dancing around with it.

Not true. You can cancel, but at this point, your pre-order is probably the quickest way to get your phone. If you are already eligible for an upgrade, go to Best Buy or Apple and try to buy one. Your pre-order may not even show up in your system.

I assure you if you keep calling and asking for either a manager or retentions, you can cancel. Check your credit card balance-they don't have your money.

Or email:carefollowup@att.com and try to get it cancelled from there.
 
Is something wrong with you? I was replying to a post that stated as fact that they had to stick with AT&T because their only option was AT&T or Verizon if they wanted an iPhone 4S.

  1. That is factually inaccurate.
  2. I have had Sprint service in the past and was very happy with it. In fact, the only reason I switched back to AT&T in 2008 was because I wanted an iPhone.
  3. Judging cell phone service nationwide based on how it is where you live is about the most ridiculous thing you can do in this situation.
  4. I've been accused of working for AT&T earlier and now you're accusing me of working for Sprint. Are you that ignorant that I can't even post an informational link disputing what someone says without having to work for them? Also, if you had applied even the smallest bit of logic you might have asked yourself if you really thought I might work for Sprint why would I also post the c spire link? Answer: because you're ridiculous.

I am not implying that you can only get an iPhone from Verizon or AT&T. I think everyone on this site has a good knowledge of what the market place has to offer. The lack of competition is regarding service plans and this is an individual decision depending on where you live and work. I am bi coastal and Sprint is not an option for me. It should also be noted that it is widely accepted that AT&T and Verizon dominate the market and there is concern that proposed mergers and acquisitions would exacerbate this further,

Please stop the personal attacks "because you're ridiculous' is not a constructive way to contribute. We can agree to disagree, and laugh about it, but there is a line of common decency that should be respected. I also think that we should avoid personal rants and not hijack thee thread, we are talking about AT&T shipments of the new iPhone. Thank you
 
For those checking under UPS Mail Innovations, entering any reference number and six digits in the area code produces a package that is unable to be tracked. Seems to be just a glitch in the tracker, that is why the ship date keeps pushing up everyday.

I was wondering about that, thank you. Seemed like any combination I treid was working for me so I didn't really know how reliable that was.
 
My order was at 2am on October 7th through the AT&T website. I ordered a White 64GB phone. The order confirmation clearly stated "Your order will be delivered on October 14th, 2011."

The system still says "Backordered" and there's no ship date or estimate.

I called AT&T today, and they apologized and offered to cancel my order. (which I think is a new thing.)

They also said that if I can find a phone at an AT&T store or Apple, I can buy it, and call them and they will cancel the order without any problem.

I looked around Hilo, but the only AT&T store was sold out of all iPhones.

I have a few trips planned in November, and was hoping to have the phone by then.

I guess if I would have known that AT&T really wasn't going to Deliver a phone on 10/14 that I would have waited in line.

The Delivery promise was in writing in two different places on my order confirmation -- so I trusted them. My mistake.
 
Ordered on the 7th via Premier at about 7pm at night. My confirmation email did say 14-21 days.

No movement on my status page until yesterday when it went off backorder, today I got ship notice.
 
so on my way home i'm calling around to see if any stores have a 16g black. all of the at&t stores are out. apple store? they have one (or more, hard to say). i say i'll be there in 20 minutes. meanwhile i'm dialing at&t to cancel my order(s).

first i call premier. sorry, the only order we see is through national business. ok, what order number is that? it starts with n-something he says. ok, ok. what's their number in case i get disconnected? he gives it to me and hangs up on me. i call the 444-4410 number and after arguing for 25 minutes about my order she tells me in the wrong area. ok, i'm in the apple store and i've just wasted 30 minutes talking to you. who do i need to talk to get the order(s) cancelled? she tells me premier and sends me their way. while i was on the phone with her i was getting extremely agitated and was raising my voice. i warned the guy next to me i might make a scene, and clearly i was because people started staring at me. i ask him who his carrier was. at&t he says. all i say is "switch when you can." so i call premier back and give them the order number. after explaining to them, yes, my wife's has been delivered and she's happy. mine has not, which was placed immediately after hers. are you sure you want to cancel? at this point, yes, i'm so freaking sick of being passed around and blah blah blah. they cancel it with the disclaimer it could take up to 72 hours to show cancel and eligibility reinstated. thanks for your help, bye.

next stop that 444-4410. this lady was so sweet and she put me on silent hold and i said outloud "i don't like this lady, i'm having trouble getting angry." she heard me. anyway, after i ask her to cancel it she tries telling me i accepted the t&c. be that as it may, you haven't shipped it, i haven't paid for it, there's no reason it cannot be cancelled. she kept saying she couldn't cancel it. i explain to her it shouldn't have ever been placed. i ordered through premier on the 7th. when i called on the 10th to sort out the credit card mess you all said "oh, this is individual" and i ended up in your area and this order was placed. supervisor please. she actually goes to the retention specialist and voila! order cancelled. i told her so far you're the sweetest and most honest at&t employee i've had and i truly appreciate your help. i asked for her supervisor's email so i can tell them how great she is.

and now i'm at home, still without yuna (i renamed siri) but now at least i have the freedom to go to the apple store or at&t store, wherever i can find what i need and not worry about the proverbial at&t handcuffs.

hopefully apple will still have the 16g later tonight and i'll kick off my weekend with some jameson and yunie! either way i see the prospect much better now.

p.s. oh, and i should add that they did not offer to cancel my order but at least they did say "ok we can do that" when i mentioned cancelling. i explained to everyone i talked to that the supervisor i talked to on the 10th told me i could NOT cancel.

This says you can reserve a 4s and pick it up tomorrow.

ATT 611 closes at 10pm local time so tonight, at 9pm, I'm gonna log on, reserve a 4s close to me at an Apple Store, call up ATT, cancel the preorder, and go pick one up.

Hopefully this works. :confused:

if i were you i'd cancel now. it's quite liberating!
 
I had toyed with the idea of canceling and just buying it from Apple. The only problem is that I would have to pay the $250 upgrade fee as I am not eligible until 11/25. I could always use the Apple trade in program of $200 to make up for the upgrade fee. AT&T has already credited me $221 to my bill already.

But...if I wait $299. Sell my iPhone 4 and make more than $200 and the phone will be free. Decisions, decisions...:confused:

Same here. Ordered the same 64g white early morning online on the 7th and got the same conformation with delivery scheduled for the 14th. As of today im also still backordered. I called yesterday they gave me the 14-21 days and today they gave me 21-28 days. I actually went to the store near my house on the 14th and they had plenty of white 64g in stock and although they were very helpful trying to cancel my online order so I could just buy it there, the person on the phone would not let them and kept saying it was processing already and they would NOT cancel my order no matter what the rep tried. Today they offered me to cancel my order which just makes me super :mad: because of course all the stores around me are all sold out now. Unbelievable Att

Today was also day 14 for me. So far my iPhone 4 is still working...

That goes for me 3 with it being day 14 today. I have 2 orders placed on Oct 7th at around 11am in Cali. Order number in the 80s and still "Pending Shipment" on both.

Called and tried to cancel, but since I ordered at the store, AT&T said I needed to cancel at the store.

Went the store, tried to see if they have any 4S's left (obviously not), and then wanted to cancel and just reserve through the Apple store. Then they said they aren't able to cancel either through their system. So I guess either I'm retarded, or I'm given contradictory information.

So tempted to just switch to Verizon when the 5's come out. But then there's that thing where you aren't able to use Safari when talking on the phone..... FML. I'm so sick of AT&T
 
Not to throw gasoline on the fire, but tonight after worked I walked into one of the five local Apple stores here in the Twin Cities, got in line and 30 minutes later had a 64 gig white iPhone 4s. No reservation.

Preorder means getting it before the masses. Someone at AT&T should be fired, shot, fired again and then left out for the vultures.

call the store. i think they all say that until 9 local time and then some open up. the leawood store in ks has the red unavailable but when i called this afternoon, and in about 10 minutes, they said they had at&t black 16g.

our generation (assuming you're in the 25-40 range) relies too heavily on the internet. i learned this last weekend. i live in kc, inlaws in dallas, we were visiting last weekend. i had been toying with going to game 6 and my brother-in-law said he was going, i'd just have to scrounge up a ticket. everywhere i looked online was absurd - $75 for standing room only. my father-in-law says call the box office. sure enough, i get upper deck for $70. never made it to the seat - wound up in diamond club with some folks my parents' age from junction city, ks. then i met someone who went to a rival high school. awesome time, awesome game. sometimes it's good to do things alone and see what happens!

I have to push it in the right direction and multiple times before it'll actually sleep my phone. Takes like 5 seconds to pull up a text message, wayyyy too long to open Instagram and Facebook.. I wanna rip someones hair out. :(

Which store? It probably won't matter to me because I won't be home until Sunday but it would be nice to know.

Can't help you with the speed, but a tip for the home button:
Plug your sync cable in. Carefully push the cable upward. It will move the connector and that may help. Be careful though.
 
Long story short, because I don't want to talk about my at&t preorder nightmare.

Just FYI, I called premier support at 866-499-8008.
Simply asked the first level support representative to forward me to a department that can cancel my order. He did, and the next one answered simply
canceled my order and did an upgrade reversal for me.
