White 64GB and Black 16GB, ordered around 4PST in store. Both are still on backorder. I called ATT and complained and got so much misinformation (i.e. 14-21 BUSINESS days from the 14th, not from the 7th). Eventually a manager straightened it out and said I should get it within a week (14-21 DAYS from preorder date), which is a week longer than the in-store rep told us when we bought the phones, and gave us a $100 credit. Still, I'd rather have gotten our iPhones on the 14th.
 
After being set to "Processing" late last night, I have a tracking number! FedEX overnight, will be here by Monday! Here they come!

Really happy you are going see your phone soon. But this is where AT&T loses all credibility in this preorder fiasco. Still waiting on two 32gb black phones, ordered in store, 10/09.

By now, we all know what first come, first served means.
 
i feel angry after seeing people getting tracking number who ordered after the 8th and im still on backorder when i ordered on the 7th... arghhhhhh damn it att. quit draggin! haha
 
This is depressing, I per-ordered my white 16GB 4S on Oct.7, and I'm checking the status on my phone constantly with no change, and now I'm the running joke at work, (I work at the Apple Store in the Arden Fair Mall in Sacramento, CA) the joke is that I'm THAT guy who per-ordered with AT&T. Shame on me.

I want my 100 credit too. My complaint to the BBB better give me at least that. :cool:
 
Final update. 24 hours later my order was still not canceled and my eligibility still not reversed. Called up a CSR, told him, talked to his manager, got it canceled and my eligibility reversed in about 20 minutes. I told him about all the woes I've experienced for the past week and he credited $40 to my account. I then went right down to the Apple store, stood in line for 45 minutes, and picked up my reserved black 16 gb iPhone 4S with no problem, from whence I type this message now.

My guess is that in store orders are getting preferred status and on-line orders will be in the next round of shipments - I am completely bummed as I never ever thought it would take this long on a pre-order

Adding insult to injury, you actually have to fight for a credit from AT&T. What ever happened to doing the right thing ?
 
Black 32 finally went from "backorder" to "processing last night around 8pm PST. I got a tracking number today about 3:30 PST and estimated delivery is the 24th before 3PM!

The US Justice Department​ has sued to block AT&T's acquisition of T-Mobile, Bloomberg reports. A Washington, DC court filing charges that the absorption of T-Mobile would violate antitrust laws. "AT&T’s elimination of T-Mobile as an independent, low-priced rival would remove a significant competitive force from the market," the document reads.

E-mails to the Department of Justice, including the Attorney General, may be sent to AskDOJ@usdoj.gov. E-mails will be forwarded to the responsible Department of Justice component for appropriate handling.
 
I'm back. Just wanted to send you guys to Boy Genius Report.com. They FINALLY have an article about this. When you read the comments by those who already have their phones, you'll flip! Plenty of 'how were they duped' and the usual 'its only a phone' comments. Even if I wasn't involved in this drama, I'd still have more compassion than these people! Unbelievable!
 
Ordered in the store before noon on the 8th. Still on backorder. Was at the AT&T store today and the csr says Apple blew it, not AT&T. Delivery was promised as one week by sales lady.

32gig black & 16gig white on order.

thanks, GMan...we need this info - regardless whether you got your pre-order or not, tsunami of email, testimonies and everything needs to be sent.

even for the "wise" who walked into the store on launch day to order and pickup their phone, the "turn of the screw" is fickle. att "played" their pre-order customers to lock-in and boost up "iphone refresh" sales to make up 3rd quarter loses.

att announced that over 1 million phones were sold soon after availability on 10/14. they also announced that over 200,000 phones were sold within first 12 hours of 10/7. that's 20% of phones were sold by pre-order on 1st half of 1st day! and they made 20% plus anyone else who pre-order up to 10/14 to wait for their phone - locking in their sales without delivering the product!!!

yes, it's all "business" - the type of stuff we've seen before.

but the justice department needs to know what type of practices att engages in when they are in a "competitive" market. what will happen when they gobble up others and there aren't too many standing.

congrats to all who have received their phones. patience and more yelling for everyone who are still waiting!

update: yay! there is movement and it's going fast! hang on, everyone...they are coming!!!

2-16gb pre-ordered in-store on 10/7 1:30pm, email confirm at 3:59pm same day. tried to cancel but denied (of course)

got my email tonight for 16GB black with tracking number. shipping out via fedex, picked up from memphis at 2:05pm and shipping info entered at 3:02pm. got att status email at 3:59pm. 2-day fedex service. eta by 4:30pm NoVA.

no status email yet for 16GB white. but looked up status order page. changed from backorder to processing around 5pm. around 8pm got tracking number. checked tracking number - same eta and shipping as above.

i will not forget what happened with this fiasco and it needs to be known. "justice" is looking for evidence of how att behaves in the marketplace and treats their customers.

i'm sending them my story. send yours.
 
Yeah, I've called AT&T twice about the phone they said in writing would be delivered on 10/14...

Each time they pushed the expected date back.

They're now saying Mid to Late November.

I ordered my phone October 7th at 2am (after trying a dozen times for their website to accept my order.)

So, by "Pre-order", AT&T actually means they'll lock you in and deliver your phone after nearly anyone else who wanted one is taken care of first... LOL
 
Looks like i'm gonna have to wait about 3-4 weeks, based on other peoples statuses here. All 4 of lines on my plan was due for an upgrade, so we ordered 3 black & 1 white 16gb iPhone 4s's.

Maybe I will get lucky this year, and get it a week later after placing a large order. Last year, 4 iPhone 4's on my plan were ordered from ATT one week after official launch, one week later they arrived while many other people still haven't gotten theirs from a pre order.

pre-orders were left hostage wo chance of cancellation. this is ridiculous to wait for christmas deliveries...it's not apple, it's how allocations were prioritized and distributed.

given overwhelming and unexpected demand, wouldn't be surprised if carriers are thinking about stockpiling incoming allocations for black friday!!! and we'll still have people waiting for pre-orders from October!!!

gotta make some noise.

Oh and btw, did you order 16GB? because 16GB (black or white) seems to have higher demand and moving slower. Mine is 16GB White.

I ordered a 16gb Black and my wife ordered a 16gb White. We ordered on Friday the 7th right after the store opened. Received the order confirmation around 10:45 PST on the 7th.
 
Thinking about reserving one from Apple. If I reserve one, am I obligated to pick it up, or can I just not show up? Do I pay when I reserve it? Not sure if I will have time to go to the store tomorrow.

I too pre-ordered my iPhone 4S white 16gb on 10/09. It's been two weeks tomorrow since pre-order date. There are units in store. What's the hold up ? I'm going on vacation around the 28 day mark and I fear that it will be coming in right as I am out of the country.

thanks AT&Terrible. Great business model. You should let your people with "back orders" go in store to pick up models that are available.

I ordered 2 white and 2 black 16g on 7th, still waiting. They don't care about how large the order is. Probably gonna take longer since they don't have enough phones to fulfill big orders! Sigh........:mad:
