Anyone know how we're supposed to get Applecare+ seeing as how we haven't gotten our phones yet?

Do I have to wait until it is delivered, resist the urge to open it and then drive to an apple store to get my applecare+?

I ordered my 16GB BLK at noon ofhe 7th, got my confirmation E-mail immediately. It had been in BO since then until Oct. 21st, when QTY BACKORDERED changed to 0, while QTY Shipped is also 0. No change since then. I'm wondering if QTY BACKORDERED becomes 0 means my phone is produced, and it just takes a while before they ship it.

You will likely get shipping information this evening.
Possibly tomorrow.

I cannot join in on the fun though. When I ordered, they told me straight up that it would be 21-28 days (ordered on the 12th though).

Fair enough... I actually was a avid political activist throughout my twenties. Then when you see just how powerful corporate lobbying is, it becomes disheartening to see one's efforts be so futile. Now, I fight the battles locally. But I do appreciate your comments about sociopolitical issues warranting more attention and passion by citizens.

OK everyone its looking good! I ordered a 32GB black iPhone 4S in an AT&T corporate store on 10/8 at around 10:30am central time and my backorder status just went from (1) to (0). Still no shipping notification yet, but I'm hoping it will ship today with a delivery for tomorrow. Keeping my fingers crossed. Does that sound right? Should it ship today with overnight shipping?
 
Same here at Apple stores online but that's normal for Sunday night.Best Buy Mobile had them this week.

I tried to order early on 10/7 and saw that AT&T was trying to make me change my unlimited data plan (or so I thought - either way, it was early and I wasn't sure, so I thought best to do it in store after work). Placed the order at roughly 5pm EST on 10/7 IN STORE and told 14-21 days. Got my e-mail shortly afterward.

Still checking my status every 20 minutes, still no change in the back-ordered column.

I'm glad yours is on the way, but I have to say I'm a little enraged (ok, a LOT enraged) that a) people ordered after me and are getting the phone and b) people are walking into Apple stores and walking out with phones while I'm sitting here twiddling my thumbs.

AT&T has until the full 21 days are up, so 10/28. Once that happens, what are my options for taking out my frustrations on them?

I'm sorry to hear this. I do agree it's BS and you should have gotten your phone already. While I don't have mine yet, or even a tracking number, it did move from backorder (1) to (0). Whether that means mine will ship, who knows. You can definitely submit a complaint through the BBB. I hope yours ships ASAP.
 
Several here,myslf included,will be registering our frustration with the BBB,state attorney general,Justice Department and the CEO of course.Also you may want to ask for concessions from AT&T.I will wait through the 31st to cancel and buy locally.I ordered online on 10/8.Apple Stores had a shiteload of them this week as did BB Mobile but that may have dried up.I sincerely hope this weeks shipment is headed to us and NOT the 22 new countries coming online.:mad:

Similar situation here. Ordered a 32gb white and 32gb black online on 10/8 around 11am EST and they're both now showing as backordered: 0

Yep, they all ask me what carrier and when I say AT&T they say no sorry, we don't. There were a few sporadic ones i saw on apple last night after 9pm, but not the white 32g or anything remotely close. Guess I'll just keep trying.. no one seems to have these things!!!

I'm in the EXACT same situation as you. Had to go after work as well.. my order wasn't placed until about 2:30PM PST and I got my confirmation e mail immediately. That was the fastest thing AT&T got me, was that confirmation e mail. Haven't been moved ever since.

As for what I'll do by this Friday, if i don't have my phone. I will be demanding high compensation all over their CSR's and being directed from supervisor to supervisor until i get to someone who can do something that calms me down. Thoughts in my mind=half off my phone, next bill free, possibly even free phone. I will escalate this as far as it needs to go. Not because I'm a little kid who wants my phone, but because I felt like this company is just tossing me and many of us around. They dont care about us, don't care about us pre ordering something. People order after me and they get their phone first? This is absolutely ridiculous. Especially for a thriving company such as AT&T.. they should be on top of their game. This company is going to get HELL on a phone if my order isn't here by Friday.
 
I understand those pre-ordered before the cut off time frame and haven't received their phones to be very upset. If you ordered after the cut off time frame and you were told 14-21 days AT&T could easily say we informed you of the wait so therefore they wouldn't owe you anything. My suggestion at this point would be to cancel the order and check Apple.com for local stock every evening about 8:50PM. I'm hoping everyone gets their phone soon.
 
The problem is that they always will have the fine print and * to back out of anything. In the email you got from AT&T, it says
*The actual shipment date and receipt of your order is not guaranteed and may be subject to delays for reasons that include, but are not limited to, product availability, inventory, credit issues, and completion of other required AT&T business processes

It doesn't matter how long it takes, they aren't going to do anything about it.

Same here. After work, about 6 pm Eastern, on the 7th. Confirmation said "approximately 14-21 days." No movement since. Store refused to cancel and let me buy in-store stock on the 14th, despite the demonstrable falseness and obvious stupidity of their argument. That's when I resigned myself to waiting instead of trying to jockey for the occasional stray phone that pops up somewhere nearby.

I'm not looking forward to the call later this week when a dimwit csr attempts to lecture me on the difference between "14-21 days" and "approximately 14-21 days." I will have a hard time not losing my cool.

Oddly, order 61 looks weird, numerically it's in the midst of 10/8 orders but listed as a 10/7 order, which I guess makes sense that they'd receive their 16 GB black before lower order numbers. Still seems odd, though.

In total, I've got 18 4s's yet to ship prior to mine, but only 6 16 GB blacks specifically yet to ship before mine (#72), with a couple between mine and my wife's (#75).

Was hoping a little more action would happen over the weekend, but sadly not. Sigh. Still more waiting.

Got shipment confirmation

Just registered to provide an update:
I was also in backorder hell (Ordered a 32GB, black in AT&T store in San Mateo, CA on 10/7, 7pm PST).
Saturday morning my order status was finally not showing as backorder, got a shipment confirmation email at around 1pm and the phone is now in the FedEx truck in the way home.. Yay! :D
 
called apple they said they ship out new orders every 5 days and that is thursday...if you havent gotten any different updates then wait until thursday..
im stuck in iPhone 4S 15gb white purgatory

Placed my order on 7th, received confirmation email in 30 mins....
On 10th, got an email said my cc didn't go through, called and solved problem...got an email said the order was pending shipment...
On 11th, another email said had some issue while porting my numbers and asked me to go online to finish the porting process...did it and been able to track my order since then...of course backordered....pending shipment....
Today i got an email stated that my order had been cancelled!!!i wasted all my time waiting on these phones and after 3 weeks they cancelled my order!!!
Called crs, they said I didn't call them after I transferred my numbers!!!wtf....I used the link they sent me and they didn't say in the email I have to call.....fine, they really don't care anything about new customers even I was opening 4 lines....
I just placed my orders with Verizon, at least now I know when I will receive my phones...

This is a great resource - how are you doing this? Are you just plugging in different order numbers and checking the status for your same zip?

So glad I cancelled my AT&T order after they put a hold on it for credit card issues. I actually ended making a 2nd order on AT&T after I got an email around 6 am saying credit card needed to be verified or whatever hoping this new order would go through.

Ended up ordering from Apple at around 11 am on 10/8 after I didn't get a confirmation email and called to cancel my 2 orders on AT&T afterwards (both were on hold for verification). I was surprised I was able to make all 3 orders for the same phone lol.

I could have easily just fixed the CC issue on at&t when I called but something didn't feel right. Hope you guys gets yours soon. If it makes y'all feel any better, I've been out of the country and don't get my phone until next week even though it's been sitting in my house since the 14th :)

Uh oh, 15gb? Never even heard of that one... I'd check to make sure they even sell it.
