Based on what I've read over the last few weeks, I am NEVER pre-ordering at an AT&T store again. Online (and especially Premier) are CLEARLY getting preference over us in-store fools. Which is completely unfair. When I see someone post that their order which they placed DAYS after I placed mine has shipped... well, I think a lot of you can understand how I feel.

This is indeed the lesson to be learned. The in-store people are being completely screwed.

I hate to be the "squeaky wheel" but I called and complained a few times and was able to get a $25 credit. I plan on going to my store and similarly complaining, and you may want to do the same. Watching people's orders get fulfilled that came after mine is bad enough, but watching other people get credits/free stuff for complaining while I sat around being the "good guy" was the final straw. Eff this company and eff their business methods.
 
This is a load of crap for people who actually preordered at the store. Yeah i ordered on the 9th but AT&T is a load of crap. I tried canceling but the store said they can't until the phone arrives and the sales rep on the phone said they can't process it for a week. Is a freaking white 64 gb that freaking rare??

I've been lurking about for a few weeks here but I just got my phone off backorder sometime around midnight last night eastern time.

I ordered on the 10th over the phone with AT&T. It was processed on the 13th b/c of an error CS made with my email address. That took three CS people to realize the email I said and what they had was wrong. Annoying but I fixed it. My phone went on backorder only a few days later so I hardly saw anything else.

I'm hoping to get my tracking order soon and my phone by next Mon for the latest! I've been on backorder for a little over two weeks so I'm super excited!

I agree.I am a 10/8 online AT&T order person who is scheduled for delivery tomorrow.In-store orders seem to be lagging and I know this is stating the obvious but maybe AT&T will get there act together next time around and actually ship in order.FAT CHANCE!:eek:
Next time,it's either from apple online or wait until 1st 10 days of bluster blows over and order online for next day pickup.Hindsight is almost always 20/20.

FWIW, I've not seen a "0 backordered" flip back to "1 backordered" as I've checked all these orders, they've always gone forward to "shipped", usually within a day or two.
 
I noticed not many people getting their 64gb phones, but they're shipping out the 16gb more often, and rarely the 32.. i havent seen anyone from att forums or here getting their 64gb white at all.

I ordered my 64gb white iphone 4s from att.com and still on BO, Order was placed October 8.

anyone here who ordered same day as me, and got a 64gb white?
 
Off Backorder

My husband and I ordered the 16 gig and 32 gig white iphones in store (zip 75035) on 10/08 after we had issues with the preorder online 10/07 (wouldn't process at all after many attempts).

They are off back order as of today. Hoping to have tracking numbers by Monday as I highly doubt we'll have them before the weekend.
 
An update on my order (below). My 32 white went off backorder yesterday afternoon. This morning it was shipped out overnight and I should get it by 4:30 tomorrow. That makes it 21 days from the (original) date of preorder.

I've been reading this forum since the first post and now can finally chime in.

I ordered a 32 white on 10/7 at 7am (CA time) online. Order number 1502...

Shortly after, Chase flagged my card and called CSR to fix. They fixed the problem. Had same order # but now dated 10/8.

Has been backordered ever since.

Was debating canceling and trying my luck at apple now that people are able to cancel but worried about no local stock.

Just checked my status again and finally out of backorder. Waiting for delivery info, hopefully in the next day or two.

I would have gone crazy without knowing so many others were in the same boat here. Thanks, guys!

MINE JUST WENT OFF BACKORDERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!! After 20 days, finally!! There is hope guys!!!!! How long does it usually take before I get shipping information???

Mine went off backorder yesterday afternoon. Early this morning I had a tracking number but no info available from fed ex. About 2 hrs later fed ex had my info. Delivering overnight from Fort Worth Texas to Cali. Will be here tomorrow. :p

Never got an email from ATT. Had to keep checking my status for updates.

I ordered the same as you (64g white) on the 7th online. I tried cancelling for a while and finally was allowed after I called again 2 days ago and they kept telling me 21-28 days bs. Go on apple.com at 9pm and be persistent until you get through. I live in phoenix and almost every apple store around me has the 64g white for about 20 mins every night after 9pm so Im sure other States should have similar stock. I did this on Monday night and was able to get through in about 5 mins and reserved a wht 64g and picked it up the next day at the apple store closest to me. Att can cancel your order now without a problem and they will re-instate your eligibility right away. So try and reserve one tonight, and if you succeed, cancel your order tomorrow morning and enjoy your new phone. I have a feeling I would have been waiting until mid November otherwise:eek:

I ordered a 64GB Blk on 10/11 through ATT on line Premier account. Still on BO. I am considering canceling and trying my luck at reserving one at my local apple store.

I ordered by 64gb BLK on 10/7 and had to reorder on 10/12 due to a cc issue ... still on backorder. Also, I'm in zip 08809 and am wondering about others in the NYC area with their backorder issues.
 
ordered on the friday, didnt accept terms and coniditons til sunday, order date was moved to the monday, i canceled it in store so i could buy a new iphone. they canceled it,

had iphone ever since, and yesterday chceked mail, i had receieved a 2nd iphone.
it says order *NULL* on the packing slip, but they still sent it to me, wonder if il get charged lol
 
Is at&t eligibility for phone upgrade the same as the contract length of two years or is it sooner?

I was under the impression that eligibility was after only one year but I don't know where I got that.
 
It seems to be somewhere between 1-2 years. Our initial 2-year contract is not up, but our upgrade eligibility went into effect some time in September, I think, which would have been around 17 months I think? Not sure of the exact timing.

I can't help but be puzzled about that whole Apple store reservation thing. If these phones are in such short supply that we're looking at weeks out for shipping estimates, even for those of us who pre-ordered prior to 10/14, how can Apple have enough stock on hand of each kind of phone to offer all those reservations at all of the many Apple stores they have every night at 9pm? It seems like they'd have to have a bunch of stock rolling in to be able to do that every night at all those stores.

(I know *how* they can do it, they're Apple, it's their phone, I just meant, if they can get that amount of stock to play with, why are they not getting more phones allocated to customers/vendors who have pre-orders they've been waiting for for weeks?)

Not just any vendor either - AT&T was arguably one of their primo vendors up until they opened up the floodgates. You'd THINK they would keep them flowing to a place that can distribute them at the pace that AT&T can.

Alas, I'm out in the middle of nowhere and there isn't an Apple store within an hour and a half of me, so AT&T it is.

An update: 10/7 in-store 16GB WHT, backorder change from 1 to 0 last night. No shipping notice yet.
 
Yall are making me very anxious. But given yalls shipments...mine should be coming soon. Since it was the 18th and processed the 20th
 
Update on my order

I am so done with AT&T.....
Placed my order on 7th, received confirmation email in 30 mins....
On 10th, got an email said my cc didn't go through, called and solved problem...got an email said the order was pending shipment...
On 11th, another email said had some issue while porting my numbers and asked me to go online to finish the porting process...did it and been able to track my order since then...of course backordered....pending shipment....
Today i got an email stated that my order had been cancelled!!!i wasted all my time waiting on these phones and after 3 weeks they cancelled my order!!!
Called crs, they said I didn't call them after I transferred my numbers!!!wtf....I used the link they sent me and they didn't say in the email I have to call.....fine, they really don't care anything about new customers even I was opening 4 lines....
I just placed my orders with Verizon, at least now I know when I will receive my phones...

I filed a complain with BBB after the cancellation, a lady from AT&T office of president called me after the complain, and she said they didn't cancel my order...and that night my order was out of backorder. Now I have the shipping info and tracking number, expecting deliver on Monday. So if you are still waiting(especailly those who ordered on 7th), file complains, it works!
Btw, to cancel Verizon order was so easy, even can do it online! Shame on AT&T...
 
Question: I ordered a 32gb white IN STORE on october 10th. ive been driving myself crazy waiting. when do you guys think it will ship? its looked like this forever:

Finally got off of back order last night, now just waiting for a tracking number. Please hurry, my 3GS is starting to do some really weird things, and my 4 has been broken forever.

Ordered 10/8 in-store, order number is 197. I had difficulty finding other order statuses since there are many possible zip codes for customers from the store I ordered from but order 190 was also ordered on 10/8 and is off backorder. They ordered a 16 GB white, I ordered a 16 GB black. Soooooo close......

Update: Off of backorder! Woohoo!

Received the same followup call from the BBB complaint. No change in status. 10/9 from ATT store, 16GB white still on backorder.
 
After giving up home of seeing any updates today, one further order went to "0 backorder", this time another 16 GB black (same kind I ordered). If this means imminent shipping, then there's only one more 16 GB black on backorder before me!
