AT&T iPhone 4S Pre-Order Status Thread

It's ridiculous how excited I get when I see another person's order gets a tracking number.

Haha I'm in the same boat. Excited that the guy who ordered a 32gb black (10/08) in front of me just had his shipped. Hopefully I'm next. Encouraged to see the 10/08 orders move. I still think I won't see my phone for a week though. We'll see...

Except I'm now nervous because I was 93, wife was 94, and a guy way down at 101 also had HIS 16GB WHT order fulfilled. They have all shipped and mine hasn't. Any chance my BBB complaint could have stalled mine?

Wouldn't that just be something?

It looks like I might be in that boat as well. I'll try and stay hopeful for something on Monday.

Most of the orders from my location have shown tracking numbers about one day after going to "0 backordered". A few were 2 days (still showing a few on my list that went to "0 backordered" on 10-26 like you), and one was 3 days. Sorry if that's not much help.

No this was very helpful, in fact more helpful than the CS agent at AT&T who just said she didn't know why its still processing this long *sigh*

Will cancel AT&T preorder from 10/10 and today went to apple store and picked up Verizon 16GB black.

Ran some head to head tests Verizon versus AT&T. If anyone wants to know the findings let me know.

The saga continues - AT&T 1800 CS told me that I should call the store about why I was skipped, the store told me they couldn't get any more information on my order other than it was "in progress" and recommended I try the 1800 number. The next AT&T CS Rep pulled up my wife's order and said:

"it's strange that you'd both order on the same day and she'd get hers and you wouldn't get yours. I wonder if they're on the same shipment - but you'd think your status would change from 'in progress' if it was. Why don't you wait until Monday and see if yours arrives with hers..."

Really? That's the solution? ...and why can no one seem to look up my order?

To all of you that ordered last week and are wondering where your phones are - take note of this tomfoolery. If you're not wedded to AT&T I would make the switch now and save yourself a lot of pain.

My phone has finally shipped , and will be arriving on Oct. 31 before 3PM. Thank god! This is all almost over.

I got a tracking number but when I click on it the page says that no information has been received by their system yet. Fedex is shipping it. Is this normal? I got the tracking number about 30 minutes ago.

Give it some time for fedex to get tracking information in their system. Just check back later tonight.

Nope. If anything, your BBB complaint is going to speed it up. You think it's a coincidence that my phone came off of back order the day that I filed my complaint? (I filed in the morning, and it came off back order that night)

Today, I got an e mail from BBB saying that my case is being handled. I also got an e mail saying that my phone has shipped.. coincidence? I don't care if any one thinks so, but the point is that my phone is finally on it's way.

Glad you got your phone. I should do the same but I'm holding out for my shipment. Crazy, I know but now you can't find any phones in my area anyway.

I would be interested in hearing your findings with Verizon vs AT&T. How does data speed compare? Do you think you'll miss being able to surf and talk at the same time?

All 10/7 and 10/8 orders have now shipped. Only 10/10 orders (and after, I'm assuming, but I'm not tracking those) are left.

19 hrs for me on Tues.Rec'd it just after noon today.I ordered online and that may make a difference.

How long does it take to get a tracking number again? I've been off backorder since Wed and my order is still "In Progress". Just when was starting to look at AT&T in a different light. Any info would be helpful...

Data speed means nothing if the test was done at the apple store.I don't know anyone who lives there.

I guess I'm fortunate I live in NH. The first day release of the original iPad, my husband stopped in Best Buy on his way home from work and waited for less than 10 minutes with 3 other customers. The release day for the 4S I got to my AT&T store at 11:30 AM. They had 5 sales reps and 2 other customers and me. I had my new 4S and was out the door in less than 10 minutes. No sales tax and no wait in NH.

16gb white came off backorder last night and has shipped this morning. FedEx when I first checked the tracking number had a estimated delivery date for Monday before 3pm. Now there is no delivery date and I'm unable to see where the package is. Hope that means a Saturday delivery!

Ordered 10/8 before noon in the AT&T store.

MY credit card was billed a day before it was shipped from the AT&T warehouse. Then it show up on my online statement the day after I received my phone.

Same thing here, mine came off back order after BBB handled the case...and shipped 2 days later....

Just checked and I got my tracking number!! So it took about 24 hours in order to go from back ordered to getting a tracking number. Hang in there everybody! It says It'll be here Oct. 31 by 3pm

Whooo! My phone not only has a tracking # but it's been picked up and should be here by Oct 31 by 3PM. Yeeees. I wounder if it hand anything to do with the phone call I made to AT&T this afternoon.

I tested inside the apple store but they have cell repeaters in there so I won't count those results. At my office, using the speedtest.net app, Verizon was getting d/l of 1.1 Mbps and AT&T was getting .45.

Upload was .96 Verizon and .2 AT&T. I'll run tests again from home and post the results.

The biggest difference for me wasn't Verizon was over double the speed, it was the subjective test using tango.

Tango app on the Verizon phone was more steady with voice and video than what the at&t phone could handle with voice alone. Stunning difference. Also, with AT&T I first got two warnings that the connection quality was too low.

Today in particular I had no issues with surf and talk. I'm keeping both phones for a while before deciding but I seriously doubt I'll ever be back on AT&T.

I believe in selling your existing phone as soon as eligibility is granted for a subsidized upgrade and getting a new one. It is my hunch that AT&T will be a problem in getting the i5 and i6 and so on. I'm guessing Verizon will always be easier than AT&T. It costs the same. And has a better radio signal.
