AT&T iPhone 4S Pre-Order Status Thread

if you look back through the thread, you may notice that no one from AT&T (direct) has had seen "shipped" on their status. Also several people are speculating that AT&T ship from US warehouses and are simply waiting for the CHina shipment that is currently in AK to hit the AT&T (direct) warehouses to ship to you. Should (as speculated) see shipped changes in the next few days. does this help?

AT&T is likely not shipping from China. If the iPhones are somewhere in the United States, it will only take 2 days to get to your door. The reason no shipping numbers are out is because they haven't shipped yet!

Why people are listening to CSRs boggles my mind? Conflicting info obviously means they don't really know anything. And I could argue the wording "ships on 10/14" could mean released and delivered. I dont want to parse words but I think people on this thread are way too anxious because trust in AT&T is very low.

Wait until tomorrow, even Thursday. If you don't have a tracking number by Thursday morning, I'd say you'd be right to worry a little. If there's nothing by Thursday night, worry alot. Hey, it could still arrive on Friday despite all that.

My iPhone4 shipped from china last year via AT&T. I got it a day early. I remember waiting for a tracking number even after everyone that ordered from apple already had theirs. FedEx had system issues and by the time fedex or AT&T even had my package info in the system the phone was already stateside and out fir delivery. I wouldn't expect anything different this year. I fully expect my order to be fulfilled on time by AT&T as they did last year eventhough my order is still in progress, backordered and pending shipment.

I do remember tracking someones apple order last year only to see it at the local hub for 2 days "at shippers request". That's the difference between apple and att, which is why I went with att again. Hope I am right!

I ordered same last year as this year from att.com pretty sure same is happening for me again too. Ordering 2 4GS this time in "WHITE" I was concerned the backorder status might be for real however since my order status just changed from backorder to processing I expect to get them puppies Thurs a day early like last year

I just checked the status of my 4s and it's off backorder. I ordered around 0445 EST from ATT premier, my bank account has had a pending charge since last Friday.

The other is still preparing for shipment, and the track by reference number trick isn't pulling any results. The apple store order status page does still show delivery by 10/14

I'm still waiting paitently.

I ordered from premier support at 5:30 AM EST and received the confirmation email within seconds. At 8:00 AM, I see the charge on my credit card for the phone amount.

When I look on the premier site, the first two checkboxes are marked complete. When I look at the AT&T site, i see backordered.

I don't know what to expect but I hope that come Friday, I will have my new phone with no issues.

Dont pre sign and let FEDEX take it back to their facility, pick it up at your local FED EX facility later that night. I have received notices that said I could pick up a package after 7 pm that evening in the past (with FED EX). just a suggestion. call your local fed ex and talk to them... or just stop by this week sometime and talk to the manager.

So my iPhone 4S has shipped and will be delivered Friday - but I will be at work. I live in an apartment complex so I will not be able to sign for it.

I know apple lets you pre sign - but I don't want them leaving it in the mail room either.

Any suggestion?

I spoke to an older sales rep this morning....

She told me that the information they have is if you placed your order before 5:30pm on October 7th that you will get your phone on Friday.

She also let me know that shipment emails probably won't start going out until tomorrow.

So the info is basically the same...

I ordered the iPhone 4 last year and some did get their orders early but the majority received them on friday, I am sure some will fall through and get delivered early - after all no system is perfect no matter how much you plan ahead... I will cross my fingers for you but I would expect it Friday. Expect the worst hope for the best. But if you think about it ... friday is not exactly the worst but it is right on time!!

Yeah, I just caught my muck up of a sentence. I meant when the phones get to the U.S., they'll probably pop up. My whole point is in complete agreement with you. The shipping orders will not be 100% correct until it arrives.

im one of those who ordered over the phone and didnt get a TC email until yesterday and still no order status online.

i had no idea ATT phones were in a warehouse (makes perfect sense for them to be) since i ordered through apple last year.

Actually that was the smartest ATT rep so far... not committing to any information that could be wrong ... just the facts - first come first served and you will get an email when shipped.

I pre-ordered by phone on 10/7 and I barely just got my T&C email today. I go to check the status on AT&T's site and it says "Date Ordered: 10/10/2011" and backordered. I'm not worried about it being backordered by why the heck does it say I ordered the phone today? I hope this doesn't mean I'm getting my phone in 1-4 weeks! What do you guys think?

That's such a big "if"! I'm in the same boat and I'm taking a glass half empty approach. Also, I get clueless CSRs whenever I call. They all swear that ALL iPhone preorders had and have a 21-28 day delivery window, even the very first preorders. Haha, I don't believe that at all, just found it amusing. That would be a PR nightmare for ATT if true. I am worried that I got the shaft on the order date vs process date though.

I have nothing on my CC (the same one I pay my bill with) nor have I received any emails regarding the order other than my order receipt showing my purchase and estimated ship date. What have you received from AT&T?

Actually I can do both the premier email or att.com. My premier email link just has 2 boxes checked processing has been that since Friday AM however att.com order status just changed few hours ago from backorder to processing

those of you who got your TC email yesterday after ordering over the phone friday, check your eligibility, mine no longer shows i can upgrade.


if you look at your account overview and go to upgrades, under your phone info should have a "more details" link

under that it read this: Contract upgrade has been initiated. Parked agreement exists. TsNCs have been approved.

i think its for the people who ordered over the phone. how was your order taken?

the TC email gave you a link to fill out your order email, number, and zip code. i am sure you would have remembered doing that.

look at my post above and check your upgrade status on the ATT site, that link might give you additional info.

I believe the T&C email was sent to people who ordered by phone, if you ordered online the T&C approval was part of the ordering process.

I figured it out - go to ups.com - and click on tracking. from there you need to sign up for My UPS - wait 90 minutes - and then you can go in there and change the address to any other address or to be held at the UPS plant.

I will pick mine up at the UPS store on friday.

On paper this sounds great. But your a better man then me if you would risk trying to change something on your order at this point. These pre-orders can become a mess real quick (as many already know). If I were you I would leave things alone and try to make arrangements for someone to be at your place. I don't know how anyone (whose orders seem to be processing fine) would even consider trying to change anything.

Totally agree. I'm tempted to have it held at the local UPS warehouse since deliveries usually get to my place around 6 PM but I think it might be a bad idea. I know Fed Ex and UPS had to hire extra drivers for the iPhone 4 last year - can't imagine what this year's going to be like.

i just got my order confirmation email with a shipping order number as well.

it looks like ATT charged me 9.95 for shipping. did anyone else see this charge? hopefully itll automatically be taken off.

did anyone who ordered over the phone see such email?

i still cannot check the status online though.

glad to see things are moving along. i was freaking out because i thought my phone was coming from China, nice to see itll be from a warehouse in the USA. definitely makes sense why ATT orders havent shipped out yet
