AT&T iPhone 4S Pre-Order Status Thread

I ordered around the same time and am in the same boat - 1 e-mail and no credit card authorization yet and showing backordered
Straight from the text of my order confirmation e-mail:
"As previously stated, debit cards may not be used for pre-orders. Because your account would not be debited until the device is ready for shipment, use of a debit card could result in AT&T having to contact you again to get the card number, overdrafts and bank fees that AT&T will not refund to you and a delay in shipment of the device."
it makes no difference to At&t whether it's a credit or debit card. A debit card can be used a CC for ANY purchase that you make. The only thing is that a debit card pulls the funds directly from your checking account. If the funds aren't there, you will be denied. But if the funds are there, it can be used EXACTLY as a credit card. There is NO WAY that at&t is not accepting debit cards. It really makes NO SENSE. People panic way too much. Everyone needs to take a deep breath and RELAX! And this is coming from someone who checks my order status 20-30 times a day
Here is the quote directly from my order confirmation about credit/debit cards:

I received a confirmation email and none of that is in there - and I have not had any issues regarding my card.

You have a point but any company has the right to refuse any type of payment. They have the right to not accept credit, debit, or cash if they want to. Besides, when does AT&T do anything that makes sense
This originally came up when replying to Bmms8. He used a CC and his pending charge has dropped. I used a CC and there is still a pending charge. You used a debit card and have no issues. Again, everybody's situation is different it seems and AT&T has their own way of doing things.
not to be rude, but have you read any part of this thread?
orders on saturday are expected to be shipped 14-21 days. i do not think youll receive your phone on the 14th.

1. you should get your phones friday, barring unforeseen issues.
2. you will not have to re order. i havent read anyone having to.
3. true, folks who ordered over the phone cannot check the status (from what ive read)
i ordered friday just like you, just got my terms email yesterday, and shipping order number email today. you are ahead of me as far as communications go. i think youll be fine
Thanks. It's only a few days but my phone is literally impossible to use right now. 2 week delay would make work difficult.
I ordered mine through premier at 2:19pm est on the 7th and I am in the same boat as sillyrabbit137. It is saying I ordered October 9th and I'm backordered. So what are your answers for that?
So, if I had a pending charge of ~$450 for the past two days and it disappeared today (without being charged), I shouldn't totally freak out?
I believe when they say debit cards here, they mean debit cards without a VISA or MasterCard logo. As long as the logo is there, it can be charged same as a credit card.
Hey guys, do you guys see the MacRumor Home page? SAMS CLUB is getting iPhone4S too!!! and they are starting to pre-order today, and they will get it at launch day!!! lol. If sams club people order today and can get their iPhone4S on launch day that means we're screwed~ BIG TIME. lol But again just like many people say here, hope for the best and we should get updates by Wed if not Thursday.
Error Messages
It seems to me that the folks truly panicking are the ones who ordered days ago and are still seeing error messages on the order website despite getting a few emails.
Shorter: Customer service says the orders were placed and I have an email that says I will receive a tracking number but the website for ATT still doesn't acknowledge that I have placed an order.
That's my concern. The website is at least showing order status for some folks and not others.
Or is that not right?

I used a CC in store and my pending charge showed immediately and it's still there. It shows my CC balance as "0" but the credit limit has dropped by $215. It will go through when my phone ships.
This kind of stuff happens year after year after year, and for 99.9% of people everything gets straightened out. Sometimes you don't even get a shipment notification before it shows up on your doorstep.
If you're TRULY freaking out, go wait in line at an Apple store on Friday morning. If they can't upgrade your line, that means you need to go home and wait for your iPhone because it's on the way.
As I just said a few posts ago, there is a delay between transferring from Premier to the main AT&T order system. Same thing happened with last year, and with the 3GS. I have been through this twice now, freaked out both time when on backorder the day before the phone was supposed to come, yet both times have had my phone on launch day.
Hell, for the 3GS, FedEx screwed up my delivery and a manager personally drove it to me in his car after hours
This must be sarcasm.
I am a huge fan of Costco or Sams Club. I wouldn't be surprised it if they already have the damn phones.
