Currently chatting with Roderick Brown.

Ahaha I chatted with him too! He wasn't helpful. He gave me the AT&T order number which was even less helpful after they transferred me to the premier line.

I've provided all my other order details up until this point. What more proof do you want than a screen cap of the chat? I'll provide it if I can.

I can attest to the validity of this conversation, as I just had a similar one. I'm somewhat convinced, however, that the representative thought I ordered from the phone. So far as I can tell, there is no reason for anyone to have to sign a T&C document after ordering online, since you have to agree to all that before you can even place your order.

I have a premier account, and the order number that came with my e-mail confirmation brings me to the first screenshot, showing an order date of the 7th. However, when I go to my order status through my online AT&T account, it takes me to the second, with a totally different order number, an order day of the 8th, and a backordered status. I think AT&T is just dealing with too much right now to get everyone's order status updated properly. All we can do now is wait and see!

Definitely ordering from Apple next time...my buddy had a shipment notification 2 days ago!

I'm not sure if they changed it from last year but Premier at least was overnight delivery. It shipped on the one day and I had it the next. I don't remember the exact shipping location but think it was TX and I live in a residential part of CT.

This kind of sucks because we are out of town. I ordered my phone Fri AM and entered in an alt shipping address, which the system accepted no problem. On my order confirmation screen it then gave my home address. I call ATT RIGHT AFTER I placed my order and they said "too late, we already processed your order, call FedEx when you get the tracking#" to have them hold it at the building". That's all well and good if I can get the tracking number in advance and not 3 hours before it's scheduled to arrive at a house I am not AT!!!

I actually ordered one from AT&T and one from Apple. Ordering stopped for a while on the Apple site so I had to order my wife's on the AT&T site. Mine is already in Kentucky. Her phone is who knows where like the rest of yours. Apple's was harder to get an order in, but it is the way to go I guess.

I would have LOVED to order from apple. I usually do. This time, it wouldn't give me the option for unlimited data unless I ordered from premiere (when it was finally possible.)

I dislike AT&T.

Wtf?????????????

Roderick Brown: Thank you, how can I assist you today?

you: Well, I've been seeing multiple people with tracking numbers for their iP4. I would like to know if this is possible, and if so, has my device shipped yet?

Roderick Brown: Due to availability and high demand your order can be delayed. Expect iPhone 4s orders up to 21-28 days for delivery.

you: Even though I ordered within 30 minutes or pre-ordering first opening?

Roderick Brown: This is the current information I have on the delivery status. You can call our online management for more information. The number is 866-391-0749 Mon-Sun: 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 a.m.

you: Well that sucks.. Also, is their any significance to the pending charge on my credit card disappearing?

Roderick Brown: I am sorry you will need to confirm the payment with our online management center.

you: Ok thanks. I believe that is it. Thanks for your time.

I completely agree and fully intended to order from Apple, but unfortunately I got caught right at that moment you mentioned when Apple stopped taking orders and started issuing reservations. They issued me one, and after 90 minutes had gone by and nothing happened, I completed my order on the AT&T website because I needed to get some sleep that night.

Now granted, everything appears to be on track with my preorder and even though it hasn't shipped yet, every indication is that it will get to me on schedule. But clearly the experience with AT&T is a lot more nebulous and confusing than it is with Apple.

The (potential) good news, though, is that I live in the DFW area and I believe AT&T ships from around here...

This thread..I truly hope most of you are very young. So much impatience.. There is no reason to continually call ATT about your order. If they say the item will arrive on the 14th, it will arrive on the 14th it just causes frustration for the ones answering the phones, having to answer the same questions, asked over and over. They are not given specific times in which your item will be shipped or when all of them will be shipped except that they will arrive on the 14th if you ordered before the cut off date.
Many of you may or may not realize this.. but it's just a phone. Perhaps you all should find some hobbies instead of endlessly refreshing your order statuses and posting your complaints on this thread..

Oh? I'm on McKinnon...work on McKinney. You?

At first I read that you live on McKinnon and work in McKinney and I felt seriously bad for you having to drive on that horrible highway every morning.

Anyway I live just up the road from you, on Maple near Medical District Dr. I work in Las Colinas.

Not young...and wasn't calling...started bugging chat reps when I saw another guy get his shipping #.

I agree, just a phone, but I'm sitting at work with little to do after our merger (and waiting for MS resources to move forward on the migration). Until I have a manager that actually talks to me more than once every 2-3 months, I'm surfing MR. :p

Yeah, my commute is murder. 9/10 of a mile. :p

What part do you not understand? Basically, they are saying that when my iPhone is ready to ship, I will receive an e-mail stating a) it is ready to ship, b) I will have 72 hours to reply back as an acknowledgement and c) if I don't do "b" within 72 hours they will cancel my order.

Sounds like bureaucratic crap to me! I'm just asking if anyone else heard this one, it's one helluva doozy even for AT&T. And if this is true, that's even worse!

I understand it just fine, thank you. So you don't have to be rude about it. I ordered early Friday morning, and I have not recieved an e-mail like that, nor have I ever heard of that. THAT is what I don't understand. If you didn't want the thing, 1. you wouldn't order it in the first place, or 2. you would cancel the order. That's just dumb and doesn't make any sense.

So why are you on this thread exactly??

Ahaha I chatted with him too! He wasn't helpful. He gave me the AT&T order number which was even less helpful after they transferred me to the premier line.

He wasn't helpful for me either! He was telling me based what he was seeing, I should expect 21-28 days for delivery. That sure as HECK better not be true since I ordered at 3:11 AM central time, and I got my conformation e-mail about an hour later saying my order has been processed.

So yesterday I posted one conversation with an AT&T rep, who told me that USPS would be delivering my iPhone. That was just confirmed again today:

you: Hi Ms. Young

you: I was wondering if you could tell me what shipping carrier will be used for my order?

Felecia Young: Good Evening! I see that you are inquiring about the status of your order.

Felecia Young: How did you place your order? Online or over the phone?

you: online

Felecia Young: You will have to contact eCom at 866-391-0749 for further inquiry.

you: ok, thanks

Felecia Young: Is there anything else before you go/

you: can you access my order status? I'm having difficulty accessing it from your website

Felecia Young: It just shows that your order is in "Progress".

you: ok, just real quick, do packages shipped by AT&T ever require signature for delivery?

Felecia Young: Not sure, as it is being shipped by USPS.

you: ok thanks!

20 pages later still no answers or progress, just the same old response, got my confirmation email(s), status hasn't changed, and the occasional Apple 4S preorderer that doesn't know how to read the thread name. Oh and just to add, I got my third email that was the same as the second email like hundreds of others who have ordered through AT&T that say my order has been processed. Ordered at 2:00 am Friday morning through AT&T's regular website not Premier.

Hang tight, I am sure everybody who got a pre-order in last Thursday, especially those who did it in the early AM will get their "shiny new devices" on October 14th. :) Don't use up your energy trying to figure out your tracking number or order status until this Thursday because this thread obviously shows that refreshing and checking every few minutes out of your day will only prove to show you that most AT&T pre-orders are stuck at "Pending shipment" until this Thursday when they are supposed to be shipped overnight at your door on Friday.

You'll only get a T&C email if you ordered by phone, online T&C is part of online process.
I'm pretty much screwed then I never got one :/ maybe we don't get one for premier

But I did agree over the phone with the lady I talk to that placed my order

I pre-ordered a 32GB Black iPhone 4S as soon as I could get the order to go through on Thursday night and received my confirmation.

Over the weekend I received an e-mail from Apple stating:
Due to an unexpected delay, we now anticipate shipping the following
item(s) as follows:
MC919LL/A, IPHONE 4S BLACK 32GB AT&T-USA
Ships by 1 - 2 Weeks
Delivers by Oct 24 - Oct 31

I checked my status online and it showed the same 1-2 week time.

Now, I just received an e-mail from an Apple EMPLOYEE stating:
Dear Apple Customer,
Thank you for pre-ordering your iPhone 4S with Apple.
Your order will deliver on Friday, October 14.
For the most up-to-date information on your order, please visit
<www.apple.com/orderstatus>.
Thank you for shopping with Apple.
The Apple Store

The e-mail looked so supicious I thought it was spam or a hoax, but I checked my account again and now it shows a delivery date of the 14th.

Very strange!
