AT&T iPhone 4S Pre-Order Status Thread

AT&T White 64GB. Got a reservation number around Friday at 2:30AM. Ordered on Friday Oct. 7th around 3PM from the Apple Store, confirmation e-mail received (for the purchase order) around 5PM.

Status is still showing "Preparing for shipment". It has been showing this for at least the last couple of days.
 
So I pre-ordered through Apple.com for one 32GB black and one 32GB white. I have received shipment notification email for the black one, but not the white.

Bad sign?
 
Don't know about my iPhone (still says "pre-order"), but the case I ordered shipped. If the phone doesn't come I'm just going to use the case and pretend it's an iPhone.
 
Ordered 10/7 5:30am EST from Premier site. Was showing backordered today. Just got the email saying should be delivered by 14th.

No longer showing backordered from regular AT&T order status site (Premier site shows no status info just "Pre-Ordered".

i want to know the estimated delivery date

Guy Ford: I'll be glad to address that as best I can. Your mentioned pre-order timeframe falls into the group whose orders will be delivered or shipped by 10/14/2011.

You: o ok, but why does it still say pending shipment when i check the order and it says back ordered?

Guy Ford: Mr. *****, because the device isn't officially released until 10/14/2011, it would definitely display "backordered".

You: oooo i see, but for some people it doesnt say backordered and they already received their tracking number?

Guy Ford: Please review your tracking and shipping information tomorrow, as you will notice more details displayed. If someone else ordered through Apple, this would occur, as Apple manufactures the device and would logically have more inventory than anyone else.

I think (anecdotal evidence) that the white iPhones are experiencing more delay than the black ones in shipping. However, some people have posted having received shipment notifications for white iPhones. Anyway, I ordered through the Apple store and although it still says preparing for shipment it also still says "delivers Oct 14", not after, not before. It doesn't says "ships Oct 14", it says "delivers Oct 14". There is still hope. I would assume that when they took the orders they knew what inventory they had on hand and what they could build in these few days. No reason for them to take orders and promise delivery by Oct 14 if they didn't have the phones in inventory or a reasonable expectation of having the phones ready.

My new Iphone 4s has been shipped and is awaiting a flight from Chek Lap Kok, Hong Kong on UPS to the USA with a scheduled delivery on October 14th.
 
backorder -> processing!!

mine just updated from backorder to PROCESSING!
hopefully, i'll have a tracking number by tomorrow :)
