That's what I figured also. I got a UPS tracking number also but no status as of yet. No worries now. Should be here by Friday or before.
You're a genius!!!!! That did it! I found both of my phones listed that way. Yet, Apple says it's Preparing for shipping.

I think the ship date means the date our box went through the giant AT&T conveyor belt machine that loads it up with an iPhone, stamps it with a ship label, and then scans it. Then I believe they move onto another step where they're registered with the shipping company, and then finally shipped soon after. They've been boxing these up all week.
Who knows, though.
Im with you, ordered went through at 3AM.. still nothing but the email saying it will be here by the 14th....
UPS vs. FedEx
Anyone else notice that the black iPhone 4s ships via FedEx while the white ones ship via UPS? I have one of each coming to the house and was suprised to see the different carriers. I assume this is why there has been discrepancies between the white and black iPhone shipping information updates...

Yes, Applecare+ is different, it has to be purchased at the same time with the iPhone.

I ordered my black 16GB from AT&T online at 6:00 AM EST, on 10/7. Since then I have received three separate e-mails telling me that the order has been confirmed, and is processing.
I just checked my order status via the AT&T website, and it says that the iphone has shipped via Fedex. There is a tracking # listed that does not work yet.

Same here, Keep the hope alive guys! i have seen many post that have their iphone shipped already that they ordered them late on the 7th so for us i think we still have a chance, wait until tonight and/or tomorrow morning! Cheers

I ordered 2am PST on the first day, yet to receive a tracking but I am suspecting it has something to do which carrier you are assigned. Looks like Fedex got handled first, then UPS, maybe USPS is up next
yeah, i ordered mine at 2pm. I saw some people who ordered Friday night and still have tracking information before me.
ordered my White 32GB on Friday at 4:40 AM Eastern Standard Time, about 1-2 hours after preorders went live/started working. Just got the tracking number this morning, through the att wireless order status website. (not premier) It's shipping UPS.
I had checked last night since a lot of people with Black iPhones were saying theirs had shipped out. Mine was still pending shipment, and I figured it would ship this morning if anything. Guess I was right.
