One thing to consider is iPhone 6/+ had a week to process and deliver the largest iPhone pre order sales in history. The 6s/s+ has two weeks!

Most people who frequent this forum got their phones on the day. I'm well aware of this. I've been following these boards since the iPhone 4 launch. I stand by my statement 100%

The forums generally reflect people complaining. Those who get their phones fade away. Also your 6+ specific. Not everyone ordered a 6+. Apple was selling the 6 also.

No offense but I've been on macrumor forums since 2005, way before the original iPhone came out. I worked for AT&T and currently with Verizon. I'm pretty sure I know what I'm talking about. You are partially right. Some will get phones on launch. But most? Not so fast. It depends on the phone you ordered. Gold Rose is what's hot and Apple will fulfill orders made on Apple.com first and carriers get batches when Apple provides it. YOU got your phone but many didn't. Some people will get phones in Oct. even if you ordered at 3am or even before 3am.

I'm not just saying that. Many folks didn't get phones on launch last year.

Telling people they most likely will get phones on launch day creates a false sense of hope and makes for huge disappointment. It is just a phone but don't provide something that isn't factual.

Here's a link to the forums for last year

I've read those forums. I was a contributor of many threads. Those posts don't account for the majority of people who got their phones. People are done posting when they get their phones. Like every forum. The discontent are the most vocal. Hell 90% of iPhone pre orders probably don't even get on Macrumors. I stand by my post. You can do likewise. I'm not arguing about it.

Not arguing. You are basing your statement based on personal experience because you lucked out. My statement is backed up with proof from last year's thread on here for the hot phone which was the 6+ at that time. Some people got phones but many didn't. Same thing happened with the 5s. I was unfortunately in that group both years. An a former AT&T employee and a current Verizon Wireless management team member, I know that Apple hasn't provided carriers enough 6+ Pink Gold phones. Apple is going to fulfill orders from Apple.com and the App Store app and will def. try it's best to fulfill carrier orders.

Pretty sure Apple offered no pre orders for the 5s.

I am optimistic about ATT getting it right this year but they don't have a good track record. You are correct that the disgruntled are the most active on the forums but it was many last year. I was very disappointed with getting my phone a week after launch since I ordered my phone before 3am. I hope everyone the best but with AT&T, it's a tricky road.

I don't blame you. It's a goat rope for sure and I'm not optimistic they'll ever figure out how to get it right.

I'm hopeful that with the 2 week lead time it'll help but who knows.

As of now, AT&T's website still says 10/19-10/26 for 6+ (except Rose Gold). I think by the end of this week, we will see a more optimistic ship time for pre-orders that happened around 3AM EST.

Well, I had to wait until to get my phone ordered. While I pay for my device, I'm on a corporate plan and the phone has to be ordered through work. Looks like the order just got placed about 30 minutes ago and the estimated ship date for my silver 6S+ 64GB is 10/19-10/26. What an incredible bummer. Was not planning on having to wait until a full month after the release of the phone to get it.

Talking about quantity of phones, not pre orders on the 5s. And deliver dates after the phone went on sale.
Remember when the 5s accidentally went on sale for in-store pick-up a week early? I was one of the lucky ones to snag one before they took it down. That space gray was beautiful...really wish they had carried that color forward.

To those saying the day will probably move up as we get closer to launch, will AT&T actually update the shipping date in the order status page? or will we know just by a tracking # that gets issued?

This is the first time I order from AT&T (due to the 2-yr contract option). In previous years, when ordering from apple, there was a way to lookup the tracking numbers days before apple gave them to you (using the phone number, etc). It's probably still too early for that but was wondering if the same thing could be done for AT&T shipments.

IIRC, AT&T didn't update my order status page until after my iPhone 6 Plus shipped last year. I only found out that it was being delivered the day before it was supposed to be delivered from the email (tracking number) I received.

GOOD LORD y'all have been chatty. I have read it all and to summarize:

None of you know for certain when the phones will arrive, when they will ship, or what not. Not even the guy/girl who worked (yes, worked, not works) at AT&T and who now works at Verizon knows for sure what is going to happen.

So looking at order numbers, statuses, estimated ship dates, past history...it's all an exercise in futility. I work at a company that deals with the public and our public is very chatty on message boards and on social media too. And guess what--they are almost always wrong, about most things.

Every company has changes internally each year--nothing happens this year exactly like it did last year.

So relax. It's a phone. We all got our orders in and the phones are on their way. People fleeing Syria don't even know where they are going to sleep tonight or where they will spend the rest of their lives. Lets put this in perspective.

*Self righteous rant*

I guess I don't know why, if you were worried about the Syrians, you even came to the thread and read it in the first place? We're all here to get as much info as we can to make our own educated guesses, it's half the "fun" of playing apple's "we didn't make enough iPhones AGAIN" games. Your post didn't help, and neither did this reply but so be it. I almost called you a troll until I saw you've been around these forums since 08', figure you already know how these pre-order threads work, but that's a long time to be trolling.

I was wondering when this post would show up! Same every year lol! Surprisingly people care about what's affecting their lives. I'm sure everyone hear feels for war refugees but I see no correlation between that and the wish for a product one orders.

Hey everyone, don't enjoy your life because some people out there have it worse than you. Prove your guilt by not posting on web forums!

I'm assuming most people posting here are from the US and if there's one thing that'll bring a US citizen to their knees it's a guilt trip even when there is no proof of guilt!

...but this is the best part, Buzz Killington. Listen, don't take me or anyone else here to task for enjoying a little group enthusiasm about something we all work hard to afford. We're adults, we have a few bucks and we're ordering and waiting (and waiting and waiting and waiting) for that glorious little ray of sunshine to get hurled at our door by a frantic delivery guy.

Go wag your finger somewhere else.

I have spoken!

It's not that I disagree with the "fun" aspect of checking our orders. What I was responding to--not so well I guess--was the back and forth of people telling others what they *know* will happen, when the fact is no one does.

Perhaps I said too much--my bad then...carry on.

Nothing we write will change what will happen tho!

Cheers!

I was probably too rough so I apologize. We're all enthusiastic here about Apple products :) The impenetrability of the process for us leads to crazy speculation and it's amusing. Anyone that works behind the scenes must love seeing what goes on here and probably considers planting some absurd rumors about what's going on behind AT&T's iron curtain.

No worries, I shouldn't have ranted about the refugees. That was dumb. I'm sorry for that!

But I was wondering that too! Like do the AT&T reps get a kick out of giving vague and conflicting answers B & C when they all know for sure the answer is A but that telling people B & C doesn't do any harm but do it just to amuse themselves? Or are they just too damned busy answering some legit and most non-legit/worry-wart questions to even give a hoot? They probably don't know for sure either--they probably get conflicting info themselves.

They probably tell us what we don't want to hear on purpose to laugh about it later. Im pretty sure they know nothing.

Ok so after past success with preordering through ATT they have finally failed me. My order confirmation came through at 3:08AMEST. I have the page screen capped with the time and confirmation number.
THEY CLAIM THEY HAVE NO RECORD OF MY ORDER! Now they say to replace the order and wait 2-3 months. I stayed up and waiting for nothing. I'm done with them. I'm paying off my other ATT next iPhone and I'm taking my business to another carrier. There was no effort to make it right. Just a word of advice for people saying that ATT has no 6s Plus stock. The reps are clueless and don't know how much stock exists. If your order said Oct 13 originally you will get your phone at launch. This has happened every launch preorder since the iPhone 3 and I have received the phone on launch day. Do not believe anything the reps say.

For what it's worth from this former degenerate of AT&T who isn't providing right information on social media (lol) , BGR and many other organizations are reporting that Apple is providing carriers very limited amount of 6+s especially in pink gold. Here's the link to one article. I agree that we are all enthusiasts using our knowledge and history to better our experience pre ordering as a whole. No need to be rude. Just saying what I know as someone who works in the industry.

I just called att to ask about my delayed order of a space grey 6s+ that i ordered before 12am pacific time. Im sure i was one of the first to order and my SHIPPING date is showing to be October 16, 2015 - October 23, 2015.

They apologized and said that the 6s is available to be delivered on the 25 but not the 6s+.

So, I asked them to waive my upgrade fee and they did it to make me happy. Seems like a easy - no hassle way to negotiate that upgrade fee if you call and complain about the delayed ship date and then make them waive the upgrade fee to make up for it.
